  1. Hello! Hopefully this will be something simple; years ago I purchased the original Black Shark (on CD I'm pretty sure) and I loved it, then I got it on Steam as well (I can't remember why, I think I misplaced the disk), and then when Black Shark 2 came out I upgraded my Steam BS1 to that and all was well. Then I moved to Australia a couple of years ago and had to leave my computer at home in England, and have just finally managed to get a new rig for gaming and simming. Here is my new problem: I have BS1 on Steam, and I have my code for BS2 Upgrade as well, but now there is DCS World, which I've so far never used, and I am unsure how I am supposed to get BS2 on there without having to re-buy BS1 all over again as a standalone thing, which I'm not prepared to do. I'm sure this must've come up numerous times and I've probably just missed the thread or something, but if anyone has any tips I'd be really appreciative! Thanks guys!
  2. Sounds wonderful! I look forward to the kickstarter going live, I've been waiting for one to come along and grab me enough to support it, looks like it has. There was another thing I wanted to suggest but I'll have to draw something up to explain it. Thanks again for the cool info!
  3. Thank you for the reply, it's interesting to hear from the developer. Is the EFD that holographic looking display aligned to the forward window? That is pretty cool actually, and probably better than my idea. There's just something I enjoy about pressing through menus on a glass screen rather than the MFD buttons around the perimeter. This is what I referred to in Doom 3 Are you receptive to outside suggestions? As it's my favourite genre I have had lots of ideas over the years about what could add to a cool game like this, as I'm sure others here do. I'm stoked to hear you can move about a ship's interior, that's been a long-time desire for me that some games have tried and few have succeeded at, and you know, interacting with terminals aboard the ship would be quite nifty if that Doom 3 technique were used ;) just throwing it out there. But that stuff aside, I really like how the space physics look. Quite convincing from what I can see! On that note, I wonder if you've considered adding inertial dampeners to the array of systems? I've been playing a game called Miner Wars recently, and as it's comparable to Descent in many ways in that it has a lot of interior action; you can switch the dampeners on and your ship will cancel momentum when you remove power, making it easier to navigate tight spaces such as landing bays.
  4. This looks really cool, I think this will tick a lot of my boxes for the perfect scifi game. It's unlikely, but what I'd love to see make an appearance in this, aside from the seemingly already-present ability to leave your ship and board a bigger one, is that neat render-to-texture technique that allows an interactive menu to be located on a touch-screen within the cockpit. If anyone's played Doom 3, you'll get what I mean. Those screens that brought up a cursor within the panel so that you could interact with it realistically, nothing connects me to my environment more than touch-screens that you can touch. It would also be realistic given the current trends with making everything into a touch-screen. I think such an interface would also make damage assessment simpler.
  5. Oh wow, cool, someone went ahead and made something like this. I suggested it a couple of years ago here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=40911 but didn't receive much enthusiasm. Glad to see this! Sry for resurrecting the thread but couldn't resist.
  6. Does anyone else have an easy time using the server list? Before my X52 broke (which I recently replaced with an x65F), I used to play this game heaps online, back before the FC merge. Those were finer, simpler times where every server on the list was guaranteed to be at the very least the same game that I was playing. However with the abysmal lack of filter options I find myself spending hours joining and leaving every server just to see if it's something I can actually fly in. If the server description isn't Russian, and if the ping isn't 300+, and if there aren't integrity checks preventing me from using some small mods, and if there's no password while the player count is above 1 (due to them all apparently having an admin bot), then I usually take the risk to join it, only then to find that there aren't any Ka-50s to fly as. I'm curious why hasn't there been an enhancement? At the very very least to have the option to sort by ping or player count, or even PVP/CoOp would be nice, but in my mind the ability to filter out FC servers should be imperative, it has made playing the game I actually paid for difficult. What does everyone else do to get around these issues? Is there some Hyperlobby equivalent that I haven't been able to find? I'd appreciate suggestions!
  7. Aw yeah, now i can bust some caps
  8. Cor that really does look good, nice work man
  9. You sat without water? Not for too long i hope
  10. Just so you know, press and depress are essentially the same word when used in this context.
  11. PoleCat, wow, what a legend. Incidentally, does anyone know if the blueprints to this thing are floating around? Or does anyone have a repository of the photos from the website? I wouldn't mind having a tinker with building my own for personal use, as i desperately wanted to get one of these for my x52, and have only today discovered all of this stuff due to the website being down.
  12. Oh dear :( I desperately wanted one of those, too. I was within a whisker of ordering one a couple of months back as well. Kinda glad i didn't. If anyone knows anyone else trying to sell off a second-hand attachment for whatever reason, i'd happily take it off their hands =) Thanks by the way, Namenlos, for updating me
  13. Awesome to see a fix for this, it's a bit of a shame to have cloud shadows removed though, but i guess i'd rather not have glitchy flickering going on.
  14. Wow, the cockpit looks so cool with Chinese glyphs. To be honest English is such a boring language when written, anything other than our characters in a cockpit-setting looks cool. It seems to enhance visual interest for me.
  15. Fair enough :) I still really want to get that Leftside-limited leaver attachment for the x52, but having just checked, the site has been closed down :( damnit.
  16. Why would you want to fly with a keyboard? Get yourself a stick and have some fun for crying out loud. If you can afford this game you can afford a joystick. Out of curiosity, what is an optimal speed/altitude for approaching and strafing targets?
  17. Ah right, that's a nice touch
  18. Custom skins are being included in the patch?
  19. Autodescent is essentially (usually) a safe way of losing altitude without settling with power occurring, which can happen very easily while in a hover.
  20. Are those screenshots? they look like they're photos from an actual cockpit
  21. That's cool dude, i didn't really look at it properly. I've just seen people throw the standard skin into photoshop and move the hues a bit to make it black and white, or grey anyway. Nice work!
  22. Did you do anything to this other than just shifting the hues/channels?
  23. lol, hearing the sound effect of that bad boy from inside your cockpit would be epic!
