The FPS always drop the closer to the ground you get. Especially if there are buildings. With the new update while flying the PG ma, with the AMD overlay on to watch parameters, its using 16 - 17 gigs of RAM and 4 gigs of VRAM. I think you are maxed out and probably would benefit from some more.

Did you guys erase the old shader files before running the new update? I always do as well as any time I change setting for video etc. Erasing those will make the first time you load the map take a few more seconds but then will be back to normal after the first time. You should see FPS gain after doing that.

Dang. I feel bad for you guys with the low speeds. I been complaining that we only get 1 gig internet in my area lol. You guys must be really rural?

I don’t fly with VR, I got a Solid 20 FPS gain with the update.

Whoa 7 hours? That sucks! I was getting upset when it took me 45 minutes to install this morning. I only got to fly for 20 minutes after the install but I have a solid 20 FPS gain on the hornet and harrier on PG map. I don’t use VR, so hopefully the VR guys get an even bigger gain.

Hey @Wags, respect for always keeping it professional. I don’t think I could do it. These guys can be brutal. I’m only 2 hours north of you in Flagstaff. If you ever need to get the hell away, especially with the heat coming, give me a PM. Ill buy you a brew at one of our famous micro brews. You deserve it. I own both the Harrier and the Hornet. While it would be nice to get the updates we want, pulling out the pitchforks and torches every single week, accomplishes nothing. ED is leaps and bounds better at keeping us up to date over Razbam. I strongly disagree with the statement that ED is in debt to its customers. It’s very clear that we are buying early release. It would be a problem if they advertised the module as complete when selling it, when its not. Don’t buy early release if you have a problem with patients. Seriously, this is the best game ever made IMHO. Think about it, people on here are flaming mad about not getting an upgrade on a GAME. Meanwhile we have guys and gals from all our respective countries, fighting and dying for us, so that we can live a life where this is what we have to complain about. LOL #Firstworldproblems.

From previous threads and this one, the way I understand it, is that one of the 3rd party devs was not ready with their upgrades to the new DCS 2.5.5. Which includes some big things like improved VR. I would think that an upgrade like that would take quite a bit of code rewriting and testing. So I didn’t take it to mean that a new aircraft is being released. And I kind of doubt ED would postpone a Update to accommodate a 3rd party new release. They would postpone an update if an existing module would cause crashes or other problems.

Usually when I select satellite map in ME it expands to the corners.

Thank you DCS for a great sim! I think the majority of the community feels the same as everyone that has taken the time to post here. Unfortunately there are always going to be people you can’t please, no matter what you do. And, usually they drown the rest of us with their noise. But they are not the majority, and you are very much appreciated!

^^^^ This. I am retired from the fire dept. Every engine carried FLIR, or a TIC as we called it. I was a Recruit Training Officer and trained a lot of guys how to use these. Even inside a burning structure where you can’t see 6inches in front of your face, with a temp differential of 1200 at the ceiling, and 350 at the floor, the cameras auto calibrate and you can see everything. Even when going from say a hallway where there is good temp variation for the camera to pick up, to a room fully involved where there is very little temp differential, all you get is a momentary flash on the camera then the screen updates with the new calibration and you are back in business.

Ok, that’s kind of what I figured. I wanted to make sure it wasn’t me though. I did jump on really fast and check out the rudder at slower speeds. Just like you guys said, it came “alive”. Thanks fellas!

Hey everyone, I’ve tried searching several different ways and I can’t find an answer. Sorry if this is has been answered somewhere else. I can’t find it. With the FC3 aircraft, my Harrier, and my A-10, rudder can be quite severe if you aren’t careful. With the Hornet full rudder barely affects the plane at all. Like its maybe 5% of the other aircraft. Is this just how the rudder works with the hornet? It feels like the plane is trying to prevent you from using much rudder. My axis for the rudder has no dead zone and no curve. Thanks.

I’m in the Harrier and the FA-18. I bought FC3 first but within a couple days I knew the low fidelity planes just weren’t gonna do it for me in the long run. I’m having a blast with the Hornet. The Harrier can be a bit frustrating but I read that Razbam is going to start focusing more on it to fix it.

Hey CHPL. I see you got it taken care of. I’m new to DCS. I just started flying 3 weeks ago. So much good, free info on these threads.
