I have this issue sometimes as well. I’m convinced it’s a bug. But its random and I can not reproduce it. I always do my set up the same to get them ready. It will be bugged, I can hit L Shift R to restart the mission and they will work fine. I cant figure out what triggers it it happen.

There are some really good videos on YouTube by RedKite and others showing the landmarks to use. The harrier is actually the only aircraft that I can hit the basket with on the first try like 80% of the time. Without those videos showing what parts of the pit to line up with the basket, I probably still wouldn’t be able to do it. Place the top of the AAR advisory box ( don’t remember the real name for it but the one that says ready etc when the probe is out) with the hose, and put your heading carat between the prop and drogue pod on the tanker. You will hit it every time. I’m sure my description makes no sense, so watch those videos! The link to one of the best vids is in the AAR section of the Chucks guide for the Harrier.

VULCAN FORGE - A Realistic 10 Mission AV-8B Campaign on NTTR
KTFBGB replied to Sedlo's topic in User Created Missions General
I just started this campaign again today. I had the same problem. I tried taking off as fast as possible, and heading directly to WP 2. If you get there fast enough you don’t get the message to RTB. Not ideal but a work around till he gets back. -
I read something about eventually being able to save presets for the Hornet. Like, counter measure programs and some other things. Maybe HSI settings like GPS format will be one of them.

Not a military background but a fire dept career. I am out west so we had extensive experience and deployment for wild land fires every season. We used GPS coordinates A LOT for wild land fires. We had to know how to use different formats because these were multi agency fires. You would think that all government agencies would use a standard format, but they do not. Depending on who you were working mad to know how to enter the different formats based on whatever the home agency used. I would guess that maybe all US branches use the same format, but the US works cooperatively with many countries and I’m sure it’s the same as above. Not everyone uses the same format. And it would be the responsibility of the pilot, like the engine captain, to be a professional, and understand how to input coordinates in different formats to maintain operational effectiveness.

I used the JSOW this morning. Went 8 for 8. 4 in PP and 4 in TOO. 40 miles out, 30K feet. They worked perfectly, and I didn’t experience loosing any coordinates.

Raven One: upcoming DLC campaign for F/A-18 Hornet

I like it -
I wish a tag here cost that. Resident elk tags are up to $148 plus the Hunt/fish license is $57. I didn’t draw a tag this year. Still cheaper than buying that much meat. We have acreage so we typically have hogs or steers going as well. We try to not buy meat from the store if possible.

Nothing wrong with getting a discount. Especially when on a fixed income. I’m glad you’re able to flight sim on a budget like that. My wife is on SS disability so I know how crappy those checks are with the cost of everything these days.

Doesn’t sound like the worst deal. Especially for tv and phone bundled in.

Suddenlink or as we call it Sudden Stink. I think its $90 a month. I get mad at them because we never actually get 1 gig/sec. down. I use my own modem and separate wireless router both are rated over a gig. I understand that wireless wont be close, none of the current wireless cards can actually do a gig. But my Pc with a 5 foot Ethernet cable plugged into the modem, I usually only get 750 - 850 mbps down. It’s aggravating paying for their best product and it always comes up short. I’m only maybe 600 - 700 yards away from the main fiber optic trunk

Since we are all telling..... I have 1 gig service at 7000 feet in the mountains.

LEX Flies the Hornet in real life. I trust what he has to say. WAGS would be able to answer the question about how it is currently implemented in DCS.

Thank you!

I am not a pilot. My logic to explain the nose rising or falling after setting trim was due to changing airspeed. That was just my guess. Is that not how it works in the real world? Just trying to learn as much as I can.

You’re not alone. I agree.

As I understand it, IRL these aircraft have a battery that is dedicated to storing the last known position of the aircraft. So realistically if you are landing on a shore base the last known position will already be in the INS as the IPP. So setting it to pre aligned is a realistic representation of real life. If you are on the boat then you are getting that info through the cable. At least that’s the way a real hornet pilot explained it in a different thread on the hornet INS.

Pronounced slight rolling tendencies (all aircraft)
KTFBGB replied to ApacheDoctor's topic in General Bugs
I don’t think anyone was questioning your ability to fly. We were just genuinely trying to help and make sure the basics were covered. It does seem odd that that it’s worse with one stick over the other. And the way you describe how the aircraft is supposed to work when trimmed out, is exactly how it works for me and others on here. I set the trim and until something changes like firing a weapon and becoming unbalanced, they fly perfectly with no input from me. So if it works for us then it shouldn’t be a coding issue. Have you ran a DCS repair to make sure no files are corrupt? Have you tried updating your USB drivers? Is it possible that there could be a scripting error in the Device software vs. the DCS input lua. File? -
I liked it. Was challenging but fun. I got a bomb on target but got shot down by a SAM in my turn to make a second pass. I was out of sidearms by the time I actually got to the target. I should have kept two for WP 4. Didn't find any bugs, refueling went good. Plenty of time before he starts his first turn. The only feedback is maybe put an explanation in the download page on DCS that it is an intermediate level mission and not really for beginners. They will need to understand basic SAM defensive flight maneuvers to stand any chance. Maybe that will keep down some of the hate messages lol. I have the track file if you want it.

Ok I see what’s happening. I think the unaligned IPP mode has been broken or not implemented. Right after getting the Harrier I read or saw a video or something about that. Since then I have had the pre alignment box checked under the aircraft options. This only gives the IPP when you spawn the aircraft. You still have to do the rest of the alignment starting at the point after entering the IPP lat/long. I have never checked after that, if I can manually enter the IPP coordinates manually.
-
On the same topic, I saw that there is an auto trim box to check in the options now. Haven’t tried it to see what it does. But, I could imagine that if that got checked and you didn’t know about it, that would be as frustrating to figure out as the above problem.
-
You don’t enter coordinates to align the INS. It doesn’t know where it is until it’s aligned. If you are in the ground, after making sure the parking break is set, you flip the INS knob to GND align, you go to data and the A/C to see that the timer is counting down eventually to where it says OK. The alignment is done by the gyros on the Aircraft not by you. It takes 3 min. If you are on the boat, you ask the ground crew to connect ground power which connect the data cable from the ship. You flip the INS knob to SEA Align. The data cable aligns the INS to the ships INS as it wouldn’t be possible to get an accurate alignment with a pitching ship at sea using the gyros on the plane.

Pronounced slight rolling tendencies (all aircraft)
KTFBGB replied to ApacheDoctor's topic in General Bugs
Damn, that’s a nice stick. I’m jealous. I wonder if it is something with the flight model then. Maybe my cheaper stick can over trim or something where the really accurate ones are more realistic? I have no idea. -

You probably have but just in case. Have you checked the axis binding page for your stick where you can add curves etc? Make sure the little black square has the dot in the middle of it. If it doesn’t sit within the box you add dead zone so that it does. Sticks wear out over time or just need the axis fixed some times. I the A-10C and the Hornet and I can trim both out to fly perfectly even after firing a weapon and becoming unbalanced. That makes me wonder if it might be the stick. Would be worth looking at least.
