  1. I contacted Winwing direct about this. Their reply was no: they will not unbundle the useless switchbox from the great throttle because their cardboard boxes are designed to ship both together. Yes. Really. For me that is a deal breaker. Shame. I keep an eye on the situation as if they change their mind and unbundle, provided that there is nothing better on the market by then I will order a throttle.
  2. This was a problem on review samples sent out to reviewers too.
  3. Oh dear... And my F-14 grip arrives this week. ::sad panda::
  4. LOLs. Yeah... I don't hang around! In fact this was good timing... I recently sold all my Virpil HOTAS hardware and was waiting for a "notified" message from VKB for the GF3 and F-14 grips. VKB had promised July delivery to EU, but it is almost the end of July and still no word from them... so... good timing.
  5. PM sent: I would like the GF3 + F-14 + KG12 combo.
  6. Are you still expecting a shipping container with a batch of products to the EU this month and are EU sales still working in July / August? (ie. factory shut, but not sales?)
  7. For the 2000-series / Turing cards the main limitation was card TDP. The main aftermarket cards main advantage is / was bios rules which allowed considerably higher TDP limits. Often this would shift the limiting factor from TDP to something else (temperature, clock speed or whatever). If I upgrade this cycle I will probably wait for aftermarket cards. Either an EVGA FTW3 or Galax.
  8. :megalol:
  9. Remember guys, the solution to improve frame rates is not just to buy a more expensive graphics card. There are plenty of graphics settings where you can compromise on "quality". And oftentimes the quality sacrifices are barely noticeable. Anti aliasing and shadows tend to be the two biggies where an intermediate sweet spot gives you visual quality without being too much of a GPU resource hog.
  10. The link suggested is a good one. So called Series 8 based on 40mm edge square tubes (ie 40x40, 40x80, 80x80 etc) with 8mm tracks. Universal Connectors.
  11. Red Kite and Growling Sidewinder have done "independent reviews". Well... they were both gifted samples, but we know that and it is common practice. Provided it is disclosed, I don't mind that. Both of these are obviously very well known and well regarded in the DCS community. Both offered generally very positive reviews of the Winwing HOTAS, with some minor problems noted. However the throttle was generally more positive than the base and joystick grip. Noobifier and Jabbers both did previews on samples, but noted various concerns which Winwing said they would try to address in a product update on launch. However, both of these guys declined from doing full reviews. Make of that what you will. There are plenty of guys on here that have Winwing HOTAS and generally have positive things to say about their HOTAS. Issues mentioned by others in various reviews: Set up fiddly with various things to adjust. Button falling off the joystick Some don't like the joystick base "feel" Software gremlins. Software always on connection to China... ET is phoning home. Some early reports of rusty internal parts Left and Right throttle arms bang into each other if not locked (not sure if this has been fixed). Poor quality table mounts with attachment mechanism that involves plastic blocks and is awkward to that on- take off - put back on a desk. Okay if it is set and forget, but less so if you use your desk for office work outside DCS. Overall it is good to have some more options besides VKB, T/M and Virpil. The throttle seems to be something genuinely different and value added. The grip and base has more competition.
  12. $530? Is that A$? They are only €103 including VAT and a table mount in the EU. €37 including VAT without table mount, if you already own a table mount.
  13. Good / useful post. I am on an RTX 2080 Ti and CPU at 4.8GHz. I am in that kinda no-mans zone where CPU upgrades will be noticed, but ever so expensive for a fairly minor performance boost. And GPU... well who knows what Ampere and RDNA2 bring...
  14. Advice: Hold off on any but a low end GPU purchase right now if I were you. I know you can always say that as there is always something new round the block. But really this time and so close to November I would wait if you already have something that works and than keep you going for a few months. AMD is likely to bring a huge jump to their performance and really put pressure on NVidia's pricing.
  15. Sort of, but not exactly. Your Ali Express link is to the TM Warthog adapter which has been available from VKB RU, EU, NA and Asia for a while. Indeed I bought one myself. I was specifically referring to the TM Hornet adapter which is still in development and not yet sold on any of those sites. I looked up the VKB NA post that I referred to earlier: https://vkbcontrollers.com/?p=100972 14 May "The upcoming TM F-18 Adapters are still a couple of weeks out so I was told – stay tuned for those to be available soon as well." That didn't materialise.
  16. Is that Winwing's marketing department asking?
  17. The TM Hornet has not been sold in any of the international markets yet: Russian Fed, North America, Europe or Asian. Still in development. The US did say "coming in two weeks" about two months ago, but as we know with VKB dates are aspirational. And with Corona Virus supply chain issues totally understandable.
  18. The weapon selector switch is difficult to engineer and seems to be the cause of most problems. That is why I am going the VKB route, even though that has minor functional limitations it seems much better engineered.
  19. I am in the same boat as you wanting a GF3 + F14 grip. I believe that they have the grip, but not any GF3 in stock currently. However they are expecting a shipment of GF3 this month to the EU distributor. So be patient a bit longer. Hopefully later this month and we will both be in business. Also, if you don't want to hand around waiting you can always order using their air-freight method, although I suspect that because of Chinese holidays you would be better off just waiting right now. Anyone from VKB Europe able to confirm this?
  20. You might be able to pick a used 2080 Ti for a decent price once the 3080 Ti lands to narrow the performance gap with a G2 somewhere down the line. But I agree with you... the video makes the Rift S look fairly bad, when in fact it is fairly good in real life. But this makes me quite hopeful that given this the G2 will be really significant step up in performance for $200 extra (which in the grand scheme of things is a modest extra cost).
  21. Come on... you should never give away your sources. HP is releasing the G2 next week. Pass it on. LOLs.
  22. Oh ho ho... Your little bird!!! Awesome!
  23. Yeah, from the German seller.
  24. I had a quality issue on a WarBRD grip that I owned: a small thing. Just a stripped thread and bolt causing the trigger to come loose. Pretty unimpressed by their lack of quality control. However, to their credit, Virpil's customer service people were very responsive to send out replacement parts at their cost so that I could fix the problem. No more than they should have done. But they did it, so fair is fair. I have - however - sold all my Virpil gear. I am switching to VKB / Thrustmaster.
