  1. I use an old Samsung 970 Evo 2TB. Long discontinued. But I'm not having any performance issues with that. So anything more modern is likely to be even better. The only caveat / advice I would give you is to go bigger than 2TB. My DCS folder is about 0.5TB with maps taking about 350GB. And that is without Afghanistan or Kola which I intend to add. I am running out of space what with all the other things my PC is used for. And I've got pretty much all the DCS maps which take up considerable space. And the other thing about SSDs is that they work more reliably when you don't overcrowd them with stuff.
  2. That is a crazy amount of work to get done in only 5 days! Did you sleep? One design comment, the choice of rail driven pedals is likely to result in relatively high friction / stiction. High grade bearings would alleviate this but in my experience flight sim kit gets covered in dust and grime over months of use and I'd imagine the rails to get some of this. Hopefully constructive. This looks amazing. I am looking forwards to a FF stick and once I've experienced that I'll probably be looking for FF pedals too. I'd love a way to convert my Slaw pedals.
  3. I was thinking the same thing. I am here after checking the store to see if it was still listed for sale and surprised to see that it is. I also sunk some cash into a Winwing F-15E throttle. And while the throttle is not useless going forwards, I would not have bought it if I had known that Razbam was going to throw toys out the DCS pram and let down all the customers that had pre-ordered its content.
  4. Will do guys. Thank you for your understanding.
  5. Disappointed. But not entirely surprised. Thank you for the explanation. And I hope your colleagues are well on the way to recovery of their health issues. There is a huge amount of goodwill towards Heatblur given the high quality of previous modules. Meanwhile, will T-shirts be received by pre-order customers on time? I've seen some customers receive T-shirts, but despite ordering on day 1 of pre-order I still have not received anything. (Location UK).
  6. No sorry: it makes more sense to sell as as a package. Everything is all checked to be 100% complete with all washers, bolts, nuts and cables and packed ready to go for a new DCS pilot.
  7. Fellow pilots, I've been asked whether I would send this package to the EU. Pre-Brexit I would have said of course, but since Brexit I've had a lost package sending something to the EU so it is something I'd really like to avoid. So for the time being I'll only send to UK addresses or hand deliver to any DCS pilots visiting the UK that I can meet somewhere convenient like London. Sorry to all my fellow EU wingmen.
  8. An alternative would be to go for the VKB Gunfighter base and Ultimate grip which has move on stick axis and buttons and has modular / removable axis switches (5 way and X-Y+push). Check it out. Very nice quality also. I use VKB for stick and Winwing for Throttle. You can use both together without compatibility problems.
  9. For sale a Winwing MIP. The MIP works perfectly. And there are no cosmetic marks. (Selling as I've now fly DCS 100% in VR). All original packaging, boxes, accessories (bolts, threads, washers, clamps, USB cables, stickers) are included. Only exception: I threw away the low quality, stamped tools so you will need some basic tools like a screw driver and hex wrench to set things up. I am based in Hampshire, UK. We can either arrange a pick up in Hampshire or I can drop off in London. Or I will include a delivery service in the price to UK only. (I am reluctant to sell outside of the UK due to customs complications). Currently for sale on Winwing's website for £850.68. I am looking for £638 (75% RRP) for a unit that is essentially in "mint" condition.
  10. Some positive feedback to you Eagle86: I just completed this AV-8B campaign having flow about one mission each day. Overall I really enjoyed it. I'd recommend it to AV-8B noobs like me. I'd only just learned how to operate the Harrier and obviously the learning curve is quite high with all the VTOL aspects as well as plenty of systems and sensors to understand how to employ. The way the campaign developed was well judged with gradually building complexity and difficulty. So it helped get your systems fluency developed. I move from janky do something, pause and figure out what to do next into click, click, click, boom quite rapidly after doing (and failing first time) a few missions. Then you added in the difficulty of night missions which added another layer of challenge to the mix. So it was a really good build up for someone that just learned the Harrier to really develop the muscle memory to fly the Harrier with some degree of fluency. The most difficult task was mission 8 hitting the moving target with other things going on. (Don't want to spoil the nasty surprise for people yet to try, so being vague here). The storyline itself was decent. Overall the triggers worked for me and things were bug free. (One exception already reported on here already). Two minor criticisms: 1) The voice acting was a little cheesy. But not a big deal. And 2) the music was naff. But you allowed a feature to switch that off in settings so that was not a problem either. So it was worth the money and time to complete. Very enjoyable. Thank you.
  11. Yeah, sorry mission 7. In my case the helos did destroy the APC. I was then asked to report on APC destruction and I checked that I was still on radio Ch 10. (I was) and I could see the option for 1) Radio 1) Helicopter Group. But under the helo group there were no options to report APC destroyed. So technical mission draw 50/100. Even though everything got wrecked and I landed OK. Please check triggers for radio comms.
  12. Completed all parts as follows: Column 1 and 2 vehicles and helos all destroyed Camp SAM destroyed Camp APCs destroyed. Says contact helo and after tunning to Ch10, does not give report destruction. Hence stuck. Thanks for checking this out.
  13. I said "more reasonable" in comparison to the €10,000 Varjo XR-4. Not just "reasonable". You misquoted me. Are you a politician by any chance? Justin Trudeau... is that you?
  14. Licences are tied to accounts, not to computers. So provided that you log into the same account on both computers you are good to go. I imagine that you can only have an account active on one computer at a time however so you still need more than one licence if you are planning to multicrew with a human.
  15. Were and when do we / can we enter our pre-release licence keys purchased? I can't figure out where to enter this code. Is it too early?
  16. VR technology is advancing very fast. There is a large premium attached to cutting edge technology. Therefore you see disparities like the $500 Quest Q3 as affordable, second tier (but still very decent) technology. And you see products like Varjo XR-4 at €10,000 if you want the full DFR and eye-tracking version. Certainly in comparison to the Varjo, Apple's Vision Pro looks to be both more impressive screen, external and internal tracking technology and more reasonable price at $3,500. (Plus it has an M2 iPad computer OS operating inside it for those that actually have a desire for that).
  17. Unless I don't fully understand Apple's tech specs (which is possible), I don't understand the generally negative reaction to Apple's Vision Pro. For sure, I will not buy one because it is tied to Apple's own OS and cannot be used for DCS. But that is not the point. Instead let's see the positive technology developments for what they are and hope that the rest of the VR industry will start to adapt some of the solutions used by Apple: Micro OLED screens that I've read have been supplied by Sony. So OLED (Sony / Apple) > QLED (Pimax Crystal) > mini LED (Varjo XR-4). I hope that Apple does not have exclusivity on Sony's mini OLEDs. Even though they will probably hover up demand for them over the time being. Use of mobile chips to enable in unit processing of eye and external tracking. Useable video pass through of the outdoor environment. This could be very useful for VR DCS pilots needing to fiddle with home cockpits or keyboards. I've not had the opportunity to try the Apple headset myself, but I imagine that they've done a nice job on the eye tracking which with DFR will allow next generation video cards to keep up with the ppd and FOV demands of next generation mini screens. A massive jump in build quality. And while I don't expect the PC consumer electronics industry to start making things as well as Apple, hopefully they can learn a few things from Apple's approach without making the headsets too heavy Better quality optical lenses compared to what we've been used to so far. Does anyone know if WiFi 7 will enable video feeds between headsets and PC at anything decent enough image density, refresh rate and latency? I imagine not, but I wonder if this is something for the future too.
  18. At the very least, I'd like to see Razbam investing the resources to create "single missions" and "instant action" situations for the South Atlantic map for Razbam developed aircraft modules. Is this something that you have planned for your final release roadmap for "South Atlantic" map?
  19. 1) It is great that a feature to pre-set MPCD gain and contrast settings has been added to the current DCS AV-8B build. 2) I remember hearing in a video tutorial (from "deephack") that Razbam is considering expanding this special option pre set to allow MPCD gain and contrast settings to be pre-set depending on which MPCD page is selected by the pilot. While this might not be realistic in terms of how the real aircraft works without this feature you are always wasting valuable seconds with hands off throttle and stick during an attack run to change gain and contrast. The problem is particularly acute for me in VR given the limitations of my headset. For example when you are using the EHSD on the left MPCD and then switch to IR Maverick video feed. So this is not exactly a "bug", but I hope that you can consider adding this quality of life feature to your simulation. Thank you.
  20. Agreed. My attitude was to just get on with something else instead (like getting some exercise). So long as outages are not frequent occurrences (which they are not). And the communication was good while the problem was fixed so customers with paid software licences were aware that the problem was being addressed ASAP. Totally cool with this.
  21. Okay. Plan B... read the phantom user manual and then go to the gym.
  22. Same here. Trying to update DCS after having been offline for a while. Wasn't sure if it was just me.
  23. My message is simply to say "thank you Heatblur". I saw the Youtube Premiere indication last night, but because I didn't have a big screen available to watch it I waited until this morning to watch it on my 55 inch OLED TV. After experiencing your work on the AJS-47 Viggen and the F-14A/B Tomcat my expectations are obviously sky high. I am sure you are all acutely aware of such a high water mark and the pressure to keep it up. But oh my goodness...! It really looks like you delivered. The vapour trails coming off the wings are gorgeous. The artwork overall beautiful. New mid- Cold war weapons. More advanced avionics modelling. The redesign of the AI interface and work you've done on Jester scripting to make him more adaptable to pilot wishes. Cleverly integrated user manual. Smart ideas! Meteor back with a good 70s soundtrack. And even a very neat bonus for pre-orders able to buy a themed T-shirt. Yeah. My pre-order is in. Good luck over the next few months getting everything honed for launch. I a very excited and really looking forwards to experiencing this for myself. Thank you.
  24. I am pleased to see that this was resolved for you.
