  1. There must be a way to do this but it's not obvious to this beginner in the Mission Editor. What I want to do is this: place the various a/c I have on a tarmac somewhere but in precise locations that I want to choose. When I use the mission editor they automatically snap in parking locations. Normally that would be great but in this case I want position them much closer to each other and in angles and directions that I choose. Must be a way to do this. Can anyone help? In case you are wondering what I am doing, about a year ago I made a screenshot of F-14 and another of the F/A-18 on my 1440p monitor with all the settings max. I then took those screenshots and used an online service to have 36" x 24" posters printed. They both came out fantastic. Stand a foot or more away and they look exactly like the real deal. I want to do something similar but in a group shot, hence I need to position them exactly as I would like. Any help appreciated.
  2. Thank you all. One thing for sure - this community - all of you are a great bunch of people to interact with. I enjoyed reading all your comments. Thank you so much and you have given me so much to think about.
  3. I know most of the DCS modern fighter modules are in various states of build, some more than others. I own most of them and enjoy them. But I've been a wee bit hesitant to dip my toes into the F-16 (which sits quietly in my hanger as I purchased it) because of all the chatter about its state. Clearly a lot of people are using it, and I've gone out for a few joy rides. My question is, is the radar, weapons and weapons delivery, flight and damage modeling far enough along since launch to invest one's time into learning, or should I keep my F-16 in the oven a bit longer? Opinions? I'm asking this sincerely.
  4. Although not exactly the same thing, getting Vaicom pro with the 'chatter' add-on adds a lot of, ah, chatter in the background that adds immersion yet does not distract. For something like $13 or $14 dollars its a bargain. And of course Vaicom pro does a lot more than that! Note: you also need "Voice attack" for it to all function. Still, a bargain.
  5. Baltic, Thanks for responding. I have some new info. Going by your post, I went back in this mission determined to drop bombs. I actually did drop them, I probably did not realize they dropped before. The reason I did not realize they dropped before is that the HUD never had the diamond, it still had the plus sign cross. This is what I was seeing each time so never thought it had dropped. I have my own mission with the same MK 82's, and I get the diamond after hitting the Weapons FWD button on hotis, then I use the AG designate button, then I get the rising horizontal line and then the drop. But I don't get that in the campaign mission, I get a cross. (see image) . I've probably done this mission 8-10 times now, and my own mission the same, with similar results.... cross in campaign mission 6, diamond and everything as it should be in my own created mission. The bombs are dropping and listening closely I can hear them drop, just did not realize it before because of the + sign vice diamond. I'm just confused why I can do it every time in my own mission ok but in Mission 6 nada.
  6. Thank you so much!
  7. That's what I keep hearing! But I still need help wrapping my head around it. Perhaps an example will help. A ridiculous one. One that isn't strictly about the plane, but will serve to illustrate my confusion. In some of my modules on VoiceAttack I use it's ability to play sound in order to play music on demand. VoiceAttack can play a random mp3 song out of a directory. So my command is "play random song" and I get to have a sound track. Again, ridiculous example. Do I get to keep that command? And I have certain commands that I have chosen to offload to Voiceattack in some modules because I use VR and the keyboard options and some of the hotus button flipping isn't available to me. I'm just seeking to understand, specifically, what happens to these?
  8. I think mine was a different brand. But to answer your question, from someone who has 20/400 vision it makes flying with VR that much more comfortable. There's already enough stuff to strap on!
  9. I have a basic question about Vaicom. I bought it today, and in installing it says I should only use their profile. What happens to all the other profiles I have created for the various modules I own? I'm just confused, any one can clarify that would be great. And if I have to use only the one profile, how do you handle module specific commands?
  10. I don't think this is me, but I am not 100% sure. I've been playing mission 6 for days now, and I can't get the '2000 in AG mode in order to drop the MK 82's. I can however create my own mission, load up with MK 82's and drop them easily on target using CCRP. In mission 6, the hud remains with the "slashes" at the bottom. I've gone back and forth days now - stuck at that point in mission 6 unable to drop bombs, yet can do it every time in my own mission. I'm not say'n it's the fault of the campaign. Man I have a headach over this!
  11. Not to be difficult, but I'd love the canopy to be more scratchy. If you have been in DCS F-14 the effect is amazing. I tried the mod I found on the board but could not get it to work.
  12. JoJo - Wow what an idiot I was. I had been adjusting that, but I was adjusting it based on the larger warning lights, not realizing that the much smaller PCA text was impacted. So glad I posted my question, even more glad you answered. I deleted my post. I had been major league frustrated at this. Turned out it was just me! Thanks!
  13. This DCS F-14 isn't a simulator, it's the real thing. At least it feels that way (especially in VR). Once you are in the cockpit and flying you realize what an absolute stunning job Heatblur has done. Is it worth $80. Absolutely not. Should be priced at $180. But thank goodness competitive forces in the market place have kept it just at $80. Any of the study-level modules require hours and hours and hours to get good at. If you buy every study-level module and don't play them, then it's expensive. If you buy the F-14 and then play hours and hours and hours and hours and hours, then your costs are pennies. More expensive to eat heart attack food at McD's.
  14. I started flying the M2000 a couple of weeks ago, discovered the English Cockpit, and it worked. Used it for a few days and decided to revert back to the French. The tutorials use the french cockpit and besides I wanted to be French. (But it did work for me). Haven't tried it since. Note that there were some elements still in French, not everything changes, but most did.
  15. Thanks all. It worked! Just lov'in this plane!
  16. I have had zero fogging issues, and it is easily adjustable for comfort. As far as resolution goes, I'd call it sufficient to use but could be better and more comfortable. I gravitate between zoom and non-zoom views of the instruments in the M2000. The instruments in the F-14 are seemingly much clearer. So maybe it also has to do with the specific cockpits I dunno. Tracking is excellent for the sims I play. Sound absolutely stinks so it is a given that I wear my headphones which is a bummer but at least sound is good. I always knew the Rift S would be a 1st step for me into VR. Before that all I had use were flat screens. I am looking forward to seeing what 2020 brings for new headsets.
  17. Optional sub titles seems like a feature a lot of people can enjoy.
  18. Just wanted to add my 2 cents. GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR EEEEEEEEEEEEEE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT change. LOVE IT.
  19. The video was a wee bit slanted I thought. Yessir there are things that need fixin', and getting a dynamic campaign would be nirvana. And I do have concerns (expressed below) but overall DCS gives us the tools to craft exciting missions today. It's not a mess. Not by a long stretch. The concern I have involves over stretching the early release idea. That's when the developer gets a cash infusion early that is spent now, while the amount of future work needed to complete the project exceeds the future income expected from it. We have no way to know if this is the case at this point in time, but the issues with the F-16 release, being so blatant, have me concerned that management is essentially borrowing on the future. I'm really hoping it was a decision based on legal commitments etc to release and not to avoid an impending financial crises. Because borrowing on the future generally isn't a fix, it's a delay. Again, this is pure speculation on my part, and there's a good chance I am flat out wrong. Hope so.
  20. Plays well with VR and a mouse. Also suggested VoiceAttack.
  21. I think these should be useful, helpful, fun etc, and no so much good or bad. I posted an example.
  22. I will go ahead and list one. In another post somewhere on the board someone talked about playing music when flying. I've been wanting to do that, but in such a way that it isn't a lot of work to do. Turns out VoiceAttack has the ability to play not only an mp3, but a whole directory of mp3's. And you can tell it to play the files randomly. There's also a way in VoiceAttack to have the song end quickly if you choose another. So I have a voice command that says "Play Random Song" and it does. You could have as many commands of song directories as you want, e.g, Play 80's retro songs Play love songs etc. It's TRIVIALLY easy to set up. Choose: Add the command, choose OTHER > Sound > Play Random Sound > Play random sound from a directory, and I like checking the "This completes all currently playing sounds" option. Enjoy this little thing that is easy to set up and fun to bring into the mix when you want.
  23. Sometimes it's the small discoveries that can make a big difference. In this thread, I'd like to invite flyers to list anything that you discovered or read about/ saw that really help make DCS even more enjoyable. Doesn't matter if you thought of it or you saw it in another post. Acknowledge that and explain why you like it. Try to give enough detail on what it is so the rest of us might try it.
  24. I own the 18, 14, now 16, F-5E and the M2000. Of them all I like the M2000 best. Complex enough to be a challenge, simple enough to have fun. One thing that stands out I've noticed is the visual damage and crash modeling. Ranges from spectacular to frightening. Noticed the hand up when the pilot is dead in the cockpit? Scary. I am just into the 2nd mission of the campaign. I thought it clever how they worked in training into scenario. I was flying with the English cockpit but switched to French for the realism. Well done!
  25. Thank you so much for posting this. I have a Rift S which I always knew would be a 1st baby step for me but I want something more. I am wondering if the lower FPS is just due to having to push more pixels due to the higher resolution and not a software issue. When you say other games purr in comparison, are you talking about with VR or on the monitor? Can you clarify - you say the cockpits look great - but also say other objects look clunky. Thanks! The Cosmos is calling to me from my Amazon account, would love to hear your additional comments!
