This is not a dig at the OP, as I love to see people that are interested in hard-core sims, who have not previously considered them; However... This is a very high fidelity sim of an extremely high-performance, complex attack aircraft. If you're coming into it completely fresh, problems with very basic concepts, such as landing, are to be expected. I would highly encourage anyone with issues like this to pick up a copy of FSX, or X-Plane, and learn the basics there, as a C172 in the pattern at 80kts is much easier to learn on than an A-10 at 180kts. Again, not a dig, just a suggestion. I know that everyone starts somewhere, but the learning curve for this sim is liable to become a learning cliff if you're not already acquainted with the basics of pilotage. Another good idea, (And probably cheaper, although possibly less fun,) would be to pick up a copy of Stick and Rudder, by Wolfgang Langewiesche. An excellent primer on flying. Regardless, keep plugging away, and you'll get it. Don't be afraid to consult real-world sources such as flight training forums and such, as the concepts all apply in the simulator, the aircraft in question is just a bunch heavier, and a bunch faster.

Company of Heroes is amazing. That being said, it's not a WWII strategy game, rather, it's a hardcore competitive RTS with a WWII setting. Hearts of Iron 3, NOW, is an amazing strategy game. At release, it was terrible, but a year of patches, an expansion that was mostly features that should have been in 1.0, and then more patches have made it actually rather excellent, if a bit micro-management heavy for my taste.

My G940 Profile, with DCS profile and QRC
MrYenko replied to MrYenko's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I don't ever launch with the Logitech tool, it's pretty terrible. Just make the profile persistent, and then launch DCS normally. -

My G940 Profile, with DCS profile and QRC
MrYenko posted a topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
For DCS: A-10C... Package includes my G940 profile for use in the Logitech profile software, the internal DCS profile for the axis settings, a Quick Reference Card, and the .xlsx file used to create the QRC, so that you can edit it to your heart's content. The base of the QRC, and most of the command assignments within the G940 profile are not my work, and are attributable to jimiC and StrongHarm, here on the ED forums. Sorry for blatantly ripping your stuff off, guys... :megalol: Note: The trim and coolie hat switches on the throttle are set up to be used as if they were rotated 90 degrees to the left, pointing straight up, which might only work for my brain. Your mileage may vary. (IE: Nose down trim is forward throttle hat, left wing down trim is up on the throttle hat, coolie hat right is down on the throttle coolie, etc.) Also, still fiddling with the airbrakes controls; they don't like to act how I want them to, quite yet. :joystick: MrYenkoG940.zip -
The avionics will start from the AC inverter that runs off the battery, but you'd never do that in real life. You'd either get a ground power cart, run the APU, or wait to start the engines. Also, the A-10C seems to be sensitive to power-source changes, which is why I always wait until at least one engine generator is on line before powering the CDU, CICU, or IFFCC. Switching from APU power to EDG power almost always knocks them offline long enough that they have to reboot.

If you noticed, the rudder pedals aren't animated yet, either. I suspect they'll implement in a future beta, or at release.

Sitting down, at 1g, without needing to make any meaningful decisions, ya. But lack of oxygen manifests itself with poor decision making waaaaaaaaaaaaaay before full-blown hypoxia sets in. The difference between survival and being an effective pilot, much less an effective COMBAT pilot, are two separate things.

Can you post the mission file for that? I cant seem to make the tanker cooperate...

Since installing Beta2, I no longer get any sound when I start the electric fuel boost pumps. They were quite loud, before, and now are totally inaudible.

I strongly encourage you guys to use just about any hosting service that ISNT mediafire... I get all kinds of fun malware and never-ending-popup loops from their site. And thats in Chrome. I would imagine that for an IE user, their computer just explodes, spontaneously.

That would be ED... You don't only download from the 100% peers, in fact, in a high load situation like this, you're unlikely to connect to him at all. You'll grab different parts from all the people at 2-10%, and end up with the whole file, long before the HTTP downloaders are at 25%. :D I love torrents.

Thanks, Const... Torrents rock for release-day mayhem reduction. ;)

Now all we need is a vid of the KA-50 doing this:

Actually, in a UH-1, you'd probably both be dead from rotor bump, after some of those pitch-up/down manuvers. :joystick: -
Thats cause the seat of even a simulated military jet is still light years better than a seat in the back of a cattle car...

real HD black shark cockpit....
MrYenko replied to RICARDO's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Looks amazing overall, and I cant wait for release. I especially love the witness paint on the screws on the back left wall. :D -
This is already better than my previous profile, in nearly every way imaginable but out of curiosity, what speed and smoothing do you use? Also, are you using Precision mode (F10) when you record, or is your neck actually made of robot parts, enabling you almost-creepy levels of precision in your view movements? Either way, robot-neck or no, thanks for the profile.

RB211 'fo LYFE. :D The Russians built the Kuznetsov NK-12, which powers the TU-95 (Among others,) and is a really, REALLY impressive triple spool turboprop. The most powerful turboprop in the world, IIRC. It made 12,000hp in 1951. The A400M engines are also tri-spool. And there is another type of turbofan where the fan is indeed turning at a different (although directly proportional, the gearbox simply stepping down the fan speed to make a more fuel efficient airfoil on the fan blades possible) speed from either core spool; the geared turbofan.

Now THATS a woman. :D

He really does. I'd love to poke around in his TrackIR profile...

Why not update the Direct X axis limit?
MrYenko replied to WarriorX's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The same reason I still cant maximize a youtube/hulu/windows media player video on one monitor while I play a video game on the other. The same reason I can't plug an Xbox controller into my PC and just have it work. Microsoft is a lazy, bureaucratic, monstrosity, and rarely listens to their customers. -
Something that helped me with TrackIR was getting used to jabbing the F9 key... Using TrackIR to swing your view about is great, but when you want to concentrate on a particular display, freezing the input is invaluble.

DCS: A-10C Beta Flight Manual, page 122 Engine Monitoring Instruments I'm an aircraft mechanic (DC-10s and MD-11s, [GE CF6-50 and -80 engines] mostly,) and although I'm not an engineer, and not familiar with TF34s or CF34s, I can say with 100% certainty that I've never, ever, not once, heard of a turbofan engine designed to run ~85% N1 with the power levers firewalled. That being said, and in a 100% supportive manner, I'd like to see ED's references on the current max-power settings in the sim. As it stands, I cant even get to 85% N1 most of the time, as it maxes out around 82-83%, even after disabling the joystick and using the keyboard to ensure I'm getting full power-lever movement. (I was, there was no change.) 80ish percent N1 sounds like the most efficient CRUISE power setting, but not full power.

Precision Approach Radar in DCS Warthog?
MrYenko replied to aphelion79's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I work with a few (dozen) ex-military controllers. Next week, Ill make a point to ask some of the more recent guys if they do GCAs anymore. To my knowledge, it's a dying art, only done once a year for re-qualification at the handful of facilities that still have the equipment. The navy, I would imagine, probably still does them, but thats not applicable to DCS. (Yet. WTB: DCS: F-14D) -
Can anyone say, "Backdrop for the 2nd monitor?" :joystick:
