Blackadder, It works. I have tried it. If you use it, you do not get ANY FPS drop (so it is like flyining without clouds), BUT clouds are much less visible.

I have the same problem (and everyone else, I think). It is the same problem that exists in Lock on game. I found a semi-solution - a mod for Lock on (but it works for DCS Blacks Shark too) called "Overcast cloud mod v 3.1" by Bobocop. Only problem is that it more or less completely removes the overcast clouds/fog effect. I wonder if someone else has some other solution (mod) which reduces FPS drop but you still have the clouds/fog.

Rabbit, use DCSMAX to use all cores. Lower some settings like mirrors, shadows, water and you should be o.k. I have played this game on my old P4@3GHZ and 2gb ram and it was playable but your pc is much faster and with some adjusting you should get 30fps+ most of the time.

Sorry, I didn't post that I have tested many, many different settings. I have posted only two results as an example. I have created my own track (around 15 minutes long) where I fly with shkval always on. My idea was that most important information is minimum fps: it happens with shkval on and a lot of action on screen, so I adjusted my setting accordingly. My major conclusion was that this game is mostly about CPU, not GPU. Also, RAM plays a major role during loading of missions. I will send you a summary of my testings.

That is exactly what I did. I didn't really play the game for first two days because I was testing different settings until I finally found my optimal settings.

Also, set shadows on lower settings: they are very demanding.

There is a fix for sound problem. For Creative labs audigy install "creative labs alchemy" software (ALMY_PCVTAPP_LB_1_25_10.exe) from creative labs web page. I kind of look at my wingman as SLOTH from Goonies; slow and retarded but you have to love him.

On my PC, some settings are very gpu dependant and some are very cpu dependant. There is a mod for black shark game where you get a nice ballistic selector information panel. I see that it lists settings for FAB and KMGU. In manual there is only explanation for settings 0-5. Are this settings for FAB and KMGU usable or not? On a side note, does anyone know what is maximum range for s-8 rocket?

Players.lua in Ka-50\BlackShark\data\scripts\Logbook Unfortunately, it is only one file so I don't know will you be able to "restore" your "savegame". I always create a backup after every mission... Try going to logbook (main menu in game) and see if "invulnerable" is turned on.

I have noticed that my wingman does not have this animation on his rotors.

I don't know if you know this, but if you are not using Saitek Profiler and you are setting your buttons iniside the game (like me), do this: open windows control panel-game controllers-properties (see attached pic). You have to have this screen opened every time before you start Black shark game. What will this give you? You will be able to use (program) buttons: 16,17,18,19,32,35,36,37,38,39. This works on my vista 64...
