O.K., after playing this new oil war campaign, I have noticed something that I dislike (and I didn't notice it in the default campaign); in many campaign missions two AI Ka-50s spawn (in briefing screen one is called Wags). They usually have a head start so they arrive at targets before me and destroy most targets before I arrive there. If I hurry me and my wingman manage to destory left-overs. I have attached one log file as an eample. Now, Wags, why did you put yourself (as a Superman) in the campaign? debrief.rar

  5. It works both ways: You proove me that in real life it is always needed to fire two vihkrs at any part of Abrams (even side) to destroy it, but only one to t-80 or Leopard 2. Abrams, T-80, Leopard 2, Challenger 2 etc. armour is top secret, and I am pretty sure that no real-life test were done (Vihkrs vs those tanks). Also, If RPG-29 penetrated (in real life) Challenger 2 front armour, Vihkrs could too because it has more powerfulf warhead. Note that I will not continue this conversation in this thread and only point out that my WISH was to have less exaggerated Abrams. Another wish: In missions with many ground units, it is difficult to view units with F7 (to find one that you are searching for); I wish that when F7 (or shift-F7) is pressed, you get a list of all ground units so you can easily pick one that you want to view.
  6. A few more wishes: - Abrams should not have super armour, unlike t-80 or Leopard 2. It is highly unlikely that 2 vikhrs are always needed to destroy it. - Radio commands should be made similar to, let's say Crysis quick menu where you choose armour etc., where you press one button (middle mouse button) and navigate through messages. - All units should try to move when attacked. Currently, when heli attacks group of enemies (infantry, armour...) they are frozen and do not try to run away. You can slowly pick them apart from safe distance. - non-controlable AI helis (Ka-50, Mi-24, Mi-28, Cobra, Apache) should, when they spot group of enemies, shoot more that one missile. Currently, they ALWAYS do this: hover at good firing position, fire one missile and go away, fly for a while, than attack the same group of enemies (with one missile), fly away etc.

  11. GGTharos & Ethernal, I understand what you are talking about, but I was referring to situation like this: I get LWR warning me of enemy tank aiming at me and get hit by one. I have hydraulics problems and my engine is on fire. I fly for 30 seconds and than my shark explodes, completely disintegrates like it was hit by a MOAB http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GBU-43/B_Massive_Ordnance_Air_Blast_bomb Also, I see that when Mi-24s and Mi-28s got shot by AA fire and when they loose their tail rotor, they slow to 0kmh and they try to land while spinning. When they land successfully, they usually explode few seconds later.   12. I wish my shark would not explode in air when hit when enemy fire, like it was filled with nitroglycerin. That would give me a chance to land it (crash it without exploding) which is more realistic after I have reviewed many helicopter crashes caught on camera.

  14. 9.5 is woking fine for me (ATI 4890). I even got some small boost in 3dMark Vantage.

  16. X52 should NOT have any impact on you FPS. Profiler for X52 can be buggy (it was for me) so try disabling it and set up your commands within the game. And yes, 64 bit Vista with DCS max will give you 100% boost in FPS in this game.
  17. I must admit that I am waiting for the patch, BUT this is one of the few games I have played in many years that come almost bug-free out of the box. Nice job to dev team!

  19. Welcome back, Bushmaster. While you are here - can you give us your opinion, as a (real) helicopter pilot, how realistic is DCS:Black Shark game (if you play it, of course) compared to the "real thing".
  20. Every army in the world tries to make a good balance of quality and cost, even the US army. No army in the world uses best quality weapons and equipment that can be produced (except maybe some equipment for some special forces units). Example: US army/marines use M16A4 as a standard assault rifle and it is not the best in the world / the best they can produce. US Marines use Cobra helipcoter because it is good enough etc. It is all about the cost.
  21. I was playing 2nd mission in "Georgian oil war - grand campaign" and I saw some ground units ahead. Usually, If I am unsure if it is a friend or a foe, I press F10 and check if there are any friendly forces ahead. This units (and they were Russian - allies) did not show on my map. Why is that? Here are some screenshots I took. You can see that Russian - allies ground forces around my base are shown on the map but this ones are not:
  22. Yes, it is a nice trick, isn't it? It gives you additional 10 buttons. I haven't been able to assign mouse ministick to anything, too. But that makes sense, I guess.

  24. While we are on this subject: Is there a way to UNLOCK a target (without destroying it)? I sometimes lock a "wrong" target and the only way of unlocking is to reset (backspace).
  25. Old problem with Lock on. Install mod which Removes shadows from clouds.
