  1. Try them online; most of the key files are loaded from the server, not your PC. If you have problems (can not connect to servers), unload the mods.
  2. Yes, Shkval turned on has a big FPS impact. Another thing is Abris: -if map screen is used, you loose a few FPS. -if ARC or HSI are used, you get a few FPS.

  4. Great stuff, Frazer! Note: ["heatBlr"] = 0, If you have a powerful system, you could put heat blur on as an eye candy. The Ka-50 though, is already a frame killer, imagine taking off with 5 buddies in view with heat blur on. Put heat blur off and forget about it. I am pretty sure that you can see heat blur only on your Ka-50...

Mission 14 Command Post Attack: I think you should change it a bit; when I arrived at the village, I expected a message or signal what building is my target but after two passes I get mission failed message. Now I understand that I should have attacked building at exact coordinated but that doesn't make any sense with so many buildings around. I suggest you position that target building 500m away from other buildings so it is easily identified. All missions with fog: please reduce it to 1. It is unrealistic to fly in heavy fog conitions. Mission with "warping ships": it is a bug in DCS engine so you should avoid it. Maybe all ships should be anchored away from the port and mission should be time limited to create some suspense? Anyway, moving ships have a bug so avoid that please.

  7. Informative post. Note that my testing method was different: I have creted a replay track where I fly 15 minutes above ground units and city. Note that I engage FRAPS counter after 10 minutes of flight and turn it off 5 minutes later, so I think I have avoided pre-loading of textures anyway.
  8. Exactly. My tests show that disabling HT gives the same performance boost in DCS BS as my little alt-tab trick: HT on: 30 FPS HT off: 37 FPS HT on and alt-tab trick: 37 FPS I use DCSmax only because it auto-starts my TrackIR and I can easilly change skins. Thanks.
  9. Frazer, those are some nice tips for tweaking. Any suggestions for smoke effects (decreasing quality at farther distances or...)? I get FPS hit when buildings are burning (damn random shooting artillery!) and when unguided rockets hit ground.
  10. No change: 2010-01-09 15:52:20 - not using DCSMax and not using alt-tab trick: Frames: 2844 - Time: 93570ms - Avg: 30.394 - Min: 26 - Max 38 It seems that alt-tab trick on my (4/8 core) CPU additionally boosts all cores. :confused:

I don't know why, but I get 23% increase in FPS if I do the following: When mission loads (cockpit view and game is paused), I press alt-tab to exit the game and than alt-tab again to return to the game. Here are some results with FRAPS testing: 2010-01-08 23:04:05 - not using above mentioned trick: Frames: 2857 - Time: 93700ms - Avg: 30.490 - Min: 26 - Max: 38 2010-01-08 23:09:53 - alt-tab trick: Frames: 3447 - Time: 93577ms - Avg: 36.835 - Min: 32 - Max: 46 My PC specs are in my sig.
  12. Here are my tips for 'Anti Arty'.: SPOILERS BELOW Try reducing fogs density. Remove last waypoint from PVI-800; it shows exact location of enemy forces so it is too easy to find them. Instead of MLRS, use gun-arty units (Nona...) because when MLRS is firing, at least with my PC, it leaves a huge trail of smoke so you can easily see it from 20+ km away.
  13. I am halfway through campaign and I didn't find any problems aside from those reported before. I must also mention that this campaign is better than stock "Georgian oil war" and very similar to stock "Deployment" campaign, maybe even better. Good job igormk!

  19. I have created a mission with Russia in Red coalition and USA and UK in blue. Now I would like to add Netherlands to blue coalition. Is that possible after mission has been created? Thanks.

  21. I see that you are worried with multiplayer, like most of us. My mods are supposed to be used for singleplayer only. If someone wants to cheat, server does the integrity check. Why did ED enable us to mod this game? Because simulation games (like Silent hunter - submarine sim, for example) are played by many sim lovers who like attention to details and spend more time on modding than on playing that game. Players who do not like slow, simulation paced games, do not usually like/buy these games. By enabling modding of sim games, developers extend life of great sim games (I am pretty sure Silent hunter 3 or Lock on games would not be played so much, even years after they have been released, if there was no modding comunity).
  22. Dude, that is only for singleplayer and you can use it if you want and skip it if you don't like it. :doh: It is not a cheat; It is opposite of cheat. This mod is to avoid cheats/exploits.

There are two minor bugs, which I didn't find any easy solution for. 1.Did you notice that in some campaign missions Mi-24 or Ah-1w cannot take off and they hover for couple of minutes and then join the attack? That is because with full load they cannot fly. Mi-24 maximum takeoff weight should be around 13205 kg and with some payloads it is more than that. For Ah-1w it is around 6900 kg. See attached test track - watch mi-24s with F2; one (fatty) will not be able to take off, other will fly normally. 2.Sa-9 strela has a bug; if enemy aircraft/heli is flying below around 150m, it fires all its missiles into the ground. Here is a screenshot and a test track - just fly straight ahead and watch with F7 Test 1.miz
