Hey guys, I just started running eyefinity today @ 5760 x 1080. I've noticed that with Eyefinity enabled the GUI seems to launch in windowed mode and doesn't center on the screen. Whenever I click a menu the screen seems to jump to another display but its always off centered. The simulation launches and plays fine, its just the GUI that I have this problem with. I think this is something that started with 1.02 but I don't know if there is a setting somewhere that I can edit. Its happening with FC2 as well. Would appreciate any help! See the attached screenshot.

Thanks Frederf !

Thanks for clearing that up for me guys. I decided to ask because initially I tried to enter the POI directly into the ABRIS but I found that couldn't get the exact coordinates with the draw feature. I guess the PVI keypad is there for the purpose of entering coordinates.
-
I'm trying to learn a bit more about the ABRIS and so I'm currently going through the respective portion of the flight manual. I have a couple of questions regarding adding new POIs: Can I KEY in long/lat cordinates directly into the ABRIS to mark a POI ? I know there are no dedicated numeric keys so it would be a bit awkward but is it possible? I know you can add/draw points but I'm specifically asking about keying the point manually. I've seen it mentioned many times that there is a very loose link between the ABRIS and PVI systems. Yesterday I entered a target point into the PVI and I noticed that the point appeared on my ABRIS with a blue box and the point number. I wasn't expecting this to happen given that I thought the systems didn't communicate. So, Is THIS the proper way of manually entering a POI on the ABRIS ?

I didn't know you could do this. Thanks for the tip. I usually keep him close to me until I've taken out the AA threats before I send him off to take out the primary targets.

I have to admit I'm not fond of rearming/refueling but I might actually give this a try. Its just a bit too dangerous down around the target area in this mission.

I"m currently going through the FC 2.0 A10 Campaign and I'm a bit confused regarding some of the tactics for CAS/Interdiction missions. Although my question is general. I'll describe the specific mission scenario, its the 5th or 6th mission in the Campaign. The objective is to destroy 2 separate groups of supply trucks just behind the FLOT. Now I can't go over 10,000ft or the BUK to the west of the map will launch about a half a dozen missiles my way in second (ECM seems useless). So I have to stay low and try to take the trucks out, I check the immediate area around the trucks and I take out a AAA ZSU emplacement with a Maverick, and I uncomfortably make my first run to the 1st set of trucks. Moments later I see smoke trails from a MANPAD and another from a Strela just off to my left. I beam both missiles amd toss flares and chaff. Soon after that I take them out with a maverick and rockets. I make another run at the targets and I get closer to the targets this time, but now I see 3 more launches this time from my right, needless to say I'm too close to escape and both me and my Wingie get taken out. I've seen advice here about flying close to targets, forcing them into an early launch to give away their position and also searching with the IR MAV and taking out the OBVIOUS AA threats, but this cat and mouse game just seems haphazard. Surely there has to be a better approach to take out short range SAM threats ? I mean using myself as bait to see if they'll fire justs seems like suicide. Flying over 15,000 ft to stay out of their range is out of the question here since we have long range radar SAMs in the area. Just a as a backdrop, I have about 100 hours in BS without showing labels so I'm pretty well aware of the basic ground attack tactics and the importance of standoff. But I admitedly I don't have much flying time in the Hog. AA threats seem well disguised as well as I can barely spot them from the air due to the dark terrain. I guess I'm almost feeling like this environment is just a bit too dangerous for an A-10. Any tactical advice I can get from you guys here would be great!

Thanks for this! The curvature setting made a big difference for me.

We'll I had a change of heart. The store decided to honor the manufacturer warranty and offered me a new x52. so I decided to give Saitek another chance, I'm hopeful that this one lasts a bit longer. I really don't have the ca$h for a Cougar or CH setup right now and until the G940 is sorted out I'll bide my time with the X52s. So far, I see a noticeable improvement in the handling. The ministick is working fine again and the joystick is definitely smoother. Yes, It is the non pro version.

Well, I spent several hours last evening trying different things, uninstalling drivers, changing mice, swapping usb ports and O/S. I have to conclude that this stick is broken. The ministick has a mind of its own, sometimes it's moving right of center then other times its centered but won't move right. Not sure what to make of the whole thing to be honest. This stick is only about 4 months old and it's only been used lightly for the past 2 months or so. I just don't think I can handle a 5th set of X52's, I gotta draw the line somewhere. I found this posting here from saitek support on their forums @ http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?p=69319 The mouse cursor drift has been covered many times before on the forum - a simple search would have let you know that I've told many people to return the sticks for an exchange as it's usually a hardware fault. Other calibration issues are obviously not "to spec" either and are also sometimes a hardware fault. We did have some people reporting a lot of trouble with calibration drift this summer though and we found in a lot of cases that it was actually down to the temperature that the stick was operating in. Especially here in Europe where the vast majority of households do not have air conditioning, once the ambient temperature got close to 30 degrees centigrade, the calibration started to drift. I'd like to spend under $200 on a new HOTAS setup. Any recommendations ?

I have a logitech g5 laser mouse, even when the ministick is disabled I can still see some input in the control panel. I don't mind tweaking, or having little issues with the software at all. i almost kind of expect it. Its just that all the issues I've had so far have been with the hardware itself. I do quite like the X52 though, tis great value for money. I'll have another go at reinstalling the drivers and see what happens. I'll report back with my findings. Thanks for the input guys.

We'll I'm running the latest drivers and sst software from the saitek site. I've uninstalled and reinstalled about a dozen times in the past 6 months. The current issue with the ministick goes a way when I unplug the usb cable but it comes back not to long afterwards. I'm pretty confident that this isn't a software thing though. The pedals are a bit noisy, but have been ok so far, I guess I'm just wary of Saitek with all the problems with the X52 and feel like I need to draw the line somewhere.

I just wanted to get some insight from the folks here before I make a decision on this. Over the past year, through exchanges and returns, I have been through 4 Saitek X52's all purchased from the same retailer. My fourth one is on it's way out now. The first had calibration problems and would not re-center during gaming. The second and third, had random issues with the blue lights not coming on some times and then causing windows vista/7 to BSOD at wakeup. I had to plug it out each time I put the PC to sleep or hibernate. The fourth one is having issues with the ministick not recentering and occasionally the joystick. This is a real aggravation since it keeps simulating me pressing the "/" randomly when I'm in windows and screws with me in a couple of games from time to time. I've heard that Saitek has some QC issues but this is a bit silly. I have a replacement warranty for this so my decision is either between getting a 5th X52 or washing my hands of Saitek altogether and getting something else. I have the saitek pz35 pedals as well, and I'm not sure what to do with those. I quite like the X52, and its worked well for me while it actually worked. I've just about had enough of this though. How can 4 different units have so many issues ? Given the complaints I've seen here about the G940 I'm scared to even touch one of those now.

Multiple monitor problem, will not display on 2nd monitor
goon3r replied to Max47's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I had an issue like this and it was caused by installing black shark with UAC enabled in Vista 64. The normal location of the file is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\BlackShark\data\scripts However, If you installed with UAC enabled then you will need to edit the file @ C:\Users\{USER}\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\BlackShark\data\scripts I'm not sure if this will help you at all but I thought I'd share since it tormented me for a few hours. -
Multiple Monitor Setup Recomendation
goon3r replied to ronht's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I went through alot of frustration with this. It was weird because none of the changes I would make the to the lua file would have any effect on the screen layout. Apparently BS uses the lua file in the virtualstore folder if you have UAC enabled in Vista. I was amazed that no-one else had every brought up the issue before. I should be added to the wiki though. I got the help I needed in this thread. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=42862 -
Thanks ED. You guys are awesome. Bug fixes and new features galore. We can't ask for more!

You have two options, try manually guide your missiles on Target in the Dark (not too hard if your targets are stationary) or have support aircraft drop illumination flares over the battlefield. I believe that all of the night missions in BS had flare illumination support aircraft.

How to attack targets while moving forward ?
goon3r replied to repsol's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
There is absolutely nothing wrong hovering while attacking targets. Don't underestimate your stand off capabilities, just make sure to keep an eye out for enemies on your flanks. You should try to clear out air threats from a lot further than 3km. You really shouldn't be that close unless you are using rockets or guns on low threat targets. Some of the best advice I've gotten is to avoid putting yourself in a situation where you can get shot at in the first place. A good HOTAS will definitely make slewing targets while on the move much much easier. -
Dual Monitor Headache, Tried Everything
goon3r replied to goon3r's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah, I figured there was something like that going on. Thanks for the explanation. I'm guessing that most vista users here just have UAC turned off. I'll probably just disable it next time I reformat, can't be bothered to fix it right now. -
Dual Monitor Headache, Tried Everything
goon3r replied to goon3r's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah, it was weird. None of my options file changes seemed to have any effect until I switched paths. I think it's caused by the UAC in Vista. I've noticed that if I disable UAC most of my games including BS will lose almost all settings and configs. So I've just left it enabled to avoid the hassles. -
Dual Monitor Headache, Tried Everything
goon3r replied to goon3r's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks alot for that. Some rep for you ++ My Problem was actually two fold: First my lua files were a bit off, the ones you made were exactly what I was looking for. The second problem which was actually worse was that I was actually using the options.lua file that is located @ C:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\BlackShark\data\scripts But instead I should have been using the one found @ C:\Users\{USER}\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\BlackShark\data\scripts It's funny because I spent a good 6hrs or so researching for the past two days and I don't remember seeing that mentioned before. I guess this is a vista UAC issue but I'm surprised more people haven't had this confusion before. -

From what I've been reading there is no way to span in vista. I've unchecked the the full screen option in the menus in the GUI as well. Is there some other way to get into "windowed" mode that I am missing ? -
Hi All, While it hurts me to create a thread for something that has been discussed a million times, I am at a loss for how to get past this problem. Spent about 4 hours fiddling and researching last nite. I have read through a few hundred posts and been using this wiki as a guide. I simply cannot get BS to display on my second monitor. I have edited both of my lua files with Notepad++ and also tried the phantom monitor fix. I am attempting to run camera at 1920 x1080 and the second monitor on the right 1440 x 900 with skhval and abris. Phantom doesn't do anything at all for me. The files below give me the camera smushed on the right side of my main monitor, with no abris or skhval anywhere on the main screen. My second monitor just shows the desktop. 1920 x 1080 , 1440 x 900 I am running vista ultimate 64, 4870 crossfireX (disabled for BS). Here are my .lua files :helpsmilie:: options.lua ["graphics"] = { ["multiMonitorSetup"] = "My_Shkval+Camera+ABRIS", ["color"] = "32", ["heatBlr"] = 1, ["scenes"] = "high", ["water"] = 3, ["fullScreen"] = false, ["visibRange"] = "High", ["aspect"] = 4.444, ["textures"] = 2, ["shadows"] = 3, ["display_mode"] = { ["avi"] = { ["bpp"] = 32, ["resolution"] = "640x480", ["full_screen"] = false, ["aspect"] = 4.4444, ["height"] = 480, ["width"] = 640, }, -- end of ["avi"] }, -- end of ["display_mode"] ["effects"] = 3, ["lights"] = 2, ["haze"] = 1, ["terrPrld"] = "20", ["height"] = 1080, ["resolution"] = "4800x1080", ["civTraffic"] = 0, ["width"] = 4800, }, -- end of ["graphics"] } -- end of options My_Shkval+Camera+ABRIS.lua Description = 'ABRIS and Shkval on the right and camera on the center' Viewports = { Center = { x = 1440; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 1080; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 1.77778; } } Shkval = { x = 4080; y = 0; width = 720; height = 450; } ABRIS = { x = 3360; y = 0; width = 720; height = 900; }
