  1. I have the throttle, feel free to ask any question. Such as when we talking about the fact that Virpil's website was wrong about the mounting plate and you said you don't need the plate because you have a simpit. Like, hell, why do you aswer in the first place (also, who cares)?
  2. No idea, have you checked Virpil's site?
  3. Don't bother with him mate, he's always behaved in a weird way.. Anyway, sorry for being late to the discussion, a was abroad. I didn't think twice about the 5-way hat on the VTr (shorter for Virpil T-50 Mongoos Throttle, that's a hell of a long name LOL): instabought. I actually wouldn't bought it if it had a microstick. I had a CH Pro Throttle for ~15+ years, now a TWCS and I have tried for a few hours the TM Tog Throttle. I haven't found any microstick that was really worth it: none of them last longer than a normal hat or gave me a particularly remarkable experience. The CH was quite good but last for only 3-4 years then mechanically died. The TWCS is rubbish, I need a massive deadzone in order to make it work (basically killing the purpose of an analog microstick) and the same with the TM Hot Throttle (although again, that throttle wasn't either mine or new). I'd rather have a good, reliable, 4/5 way hat then a flawed microstick. That being said, the feeling on the VTr 5-way hat is different than what you may expect: the movement is very wide hence not particularly responsive but that means that you don't accidentally mess the cursor / TDC / whatever when pushing it. I haven't tried it much (my T-50 base is on its way back from Virpil support finally, I'll do a review of the complete Virpil T-50 HOTAS when it's here) but I like it.
  4. Some more few early impressions: Base - The feeling is still a bit off, after ~20y of sliding throttles I guess it's normal. The throttle is very precise, I like that; - mid encoder has a different knob, to make it feel different; - encoders have a commands buffer: they store the amount of input you apply and they keep sending data even after you stop turning them (my Arduino control box doens't do that, for instance). Not a problem at all, just care to avoid overturning them until you get used the behaviour. Throttle - the TDC has a quite long range, probably to avoid accidental movement when the pushbutton is used. I like that, it feels really good. - plenty of 4-way hats, I had no problems using them. They sport a nice "checkering" (complete for the TDC, just horizontal or vertical for the other 4-way hats) which improves the grip. The only hat I'd improve is the one actived by the index finger: the relief is only horizontal, meaning using it vertically is great but it is a bit slippery when used horizontally. A checkering would have been a bit better. Again, not a big deal at all, I'm being picky here.
  5. They have realised later that it doens't fit. They are offering to sell the adapter free of the delivery charge. From reddit: Send a pm or drop and email to their support, they should be able to help you.
  6. The shows that the knob already works by default and causes different buttons to send different signals depending on its position. Hence it's already ready to be used without the software (which is great). Of course for further customization you need the software (I haven't tried it yet - I'm happy with the default setting ATM). Late afternoon I managed to find a solution for my missing stick and did a quick flight. First time after 3 months! I have undusted my 15 years old CH Fighterstick, taped it onto the Desk Mount with Warthog plate and left the Virpil Throttle on a chair. It's quite uncomfortable but amen, I can't complain. I've streamed a few minutes, youtube's still working on it. So, impressions after a 5 minutes flight: - detents: not tested, useless for us rotary-wings overlords :P - the friction is very adjustable but it works as a sum of the two throttles: if you separate them, they will retain only part of the original friction. In other words, the total strenght required to move it the sum of the strenght you should apply to each throttle. - the buttons are great for controlling the Ka-50's Autopilots, I still have to work on my muscle memory but the position is very good. I tried to test how reactive and responsive the throttle is and is really good: the movement is fluid and I was able to adjust the collective very precisely almost immediately. I did some maneuvers with AP H off and no AP at all, some hammerhead (or whatever that figure is called) and a barrel roll. Yep, I'm happy about this first test. Both the T-50 Throttle and my ancient CH Fighterstick performed well. ASAP some more tests and considerations, I might even fire up the F/A-18. I bought it on day-one but never even launched it.
  7. Who has said that I still have patience? I was happy when I found out a couple of nice solution on their throttle, then I realized I've been ****ed again with the adapter. Should I spend 20€ on the delivery again because they have changed the website overnight? Google cache doesn't lie. Also, I asked Cyph3r if they can send me the throttle plate when (if?) they will ship my base (not for free of course!) but he said they can't. Now I'm really royally screwed. Options are: - damaging the table (it can't hold 5.9kg and it's not mine → me = tenant); - buying the adapter and spending 20€ for the delivery again; - build a support myself (yep, can do, but why should I when I've paid a Desk Mount)? - do not use / sell the throttle. I knew it, I should have bought a collective from Komodo. The Δ between the cost of the two will go in Gaviscon anyway.
  8. Oh come on, not again. Sorry mate, I don't mean to be rude but the site says it is not required, otherwise I'd have bought it. EDIT: oh my.. ok, they have changed the website. For a moment I thought I was going crazy. ...aaaand google cache to the rescue! https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:-D7BZkTthr8J:https://virpil-controls.eu/vpc-desk-mount.html+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk&client=firefox-b-ab They must have changed it overnight 'cause a couple of days ago it was there. So, how should I support my throttle without stressing so much the table (the total of throttle, desk mount and tog plate is 5.9kg)? By paying 20€ for the shipping again? Picture of the posterity:
  9. First, a couple of pics. I have to admit it looks good. I've found the problem with my base: as I was guessing, two screws were loose. Problem is, each screw that hold the PCB in place are actually loose. I suggest everyone to check theirs and remember that PCB doesn't like to be stressed so don't overtighten them! Pics of the PCB and the internals: The second question is: how do I fix it onto the Desk Mount? I'm not the brightest here so maybe you can help me out. See the position of the 4 screws on the desk mount and the 4 holes on the throttle? Unless I am missing something they can't fit.
  10. I got it! The behaviour of the momentary emergency button is brilliant! Allow me to explain: if you have read my post on reddit, you know that that button is 3-way ON/OFF/ON momentary switch and the Down movement sends two signals, one as it is pushed, another one as it is released. The Up instead sends only one as only as long as is kept in that position. This is brilliant! Why? It is because the Down is engaged as you raise the red cover and is fired again as you release it, this means that it can be bounded in DCS to the toggle that raises the in-game cover and it will actually actuate it as you raise the cover itself and toggle it again as you close it! This is really brilliant and the easiest implementation of a solution to the fact that in-game covers must be opened via a separate key (the other solution is a macro, I guess). Well played Virpil, call me impressed. Let me know if you want a quick video (I’m sick today hence the level of my English is even lower than usual). (PS: I'm still counting the days -97 today- and waiting for my base to be repaired but I'm really impressed). @Lenux: no prob mate! @Cyph3r: sent, thanks. @Seb71: well, it's nothing that some deadzone or curves can't do. I've survived to more than 15 years of pots.
  11. As Ayindi said, they send a signal then release it. Just to clarify a bit more, this is my control box (I've already posted it above): Se how some buttons are "kept pushed" constantly (that's not entirely true code-wise but it's not important now)? Those are the latched or "non-momentary". Other buttons instead send a signal as long as they are pushed. Those are the momentary. In Virpil's throttle, despite the fact that the 2-way switches hold their physical position, they send the signal just for a few ms, hence behaving as normal pushbuttons. Is it a bit more clear now? :)
  12. Yep, I've noticed that as well, that's why I stopped for a moment. Honestly I don't care 'cause I will probably use it to control the zoom (rotor-head here) but I can see why can be annoying. Another thing I don't like is that buttons are momentary, even the latched ones. This means you have to tell DCS where their position is every time you fire up the sim. NOTE: it might be possible to change their behaviour via software, I haven't checked yet. I mean, , 82 buttons (70 in the video, I haven't updated it yet) and it works very well in DCS. Latched buttons are actually very nice to use as long as you code them correctly.
  13. @Len: thanks mate. I really hope that I won't be screwed by the throttle as well (the noise it does when I move actually scares me). There's a limit to the amount of gaviscon I can ingest.. Last few pics, just to show the backlighting: ..and now back to the box, waiting for his brother to come home (no seriously, it's back in his box, near the Base's). I'm writing some considerations, I'll post them later. Oh, I forgot to link the buttons test. Some behave in an "interesting" way. Be advised, my webcam sucks. I'll add more with the considerations I'm writing.
  14. Moar pics! You see why I was asking about how the throttle should be mounted on the desk mount withouth the new support? As I expected the 4 holes don't match but I haven't checked the documentation yet, so I might be missing something. By using the Tog plate the position is good, I quite like it. I am only worried about the weight: Desk mount + Tog plate + Throttle is quite a lot: 5.9kg! Make sure your table is sturdy enough. Also, that probably explains why their new support is so "skinny". As you can see from the pics of my setup I can't test the throttle in game because my base is still missing (the box near my PC is the grip's tomb since May - 96 days since I've opened the ticket). I haven't plugged the throttle yet, the noise coming from the inside is worring and since I'm not able to fly, what's the point? Well I'm connecting it just to see if it turns on and to take some pics, then it goes back to the box for ever / ages / many months - until my T-50 base comes back from the repair.
  15. 1. bottom; 2. use pointy's 3. haven't checked yet I already have a problem: something's moving inside the throttle, might be a screw. Hopefully it's not a screw otherwise I already forsee a nice short circuit, then I'll be.. screwed (lol, sorry). Pics:
  16. Just delivered! A few minutes and I post some pics and early impressions.
  17. A'right, I probably forgot to mention that I have two desk mounts and a T-50 since almost a year ago so I know how they work. At the moment my base is dead and lost in their support queue, but the other desk mount holds my TWCS (I've ordered a Tog throttle plate as well). Old pic to give you an idea. The fact is, the description says: but then look at my pic, do you see the 4 screws? Now have a look at the 4 holes under the throttle and the position of the throttle itself when is fully forward. It looks really, really close to the vertical mount. It's not a big deal for me, I can drill 4 holes on the Tog's Plate and call it a day (it will be very heavy though) but I'd have ordered the new support if the description was a bit more clear (hence more money for them). As soon as is delivered I'll take some pics and do some tests. If the results are as I image now, they should change the description in "highly reccommended" or something like that. I see, you have a simpit. Cool. Is that why you have replied without reading the description of the item you've linked? Also:
  18. I know that, but do you have a desk mount? See where the part that should hold is? It seems very, very close the vertical support. I guess I can answer this question myself in a few days, since it is on its way.
  19. After seeing this image: the question is: how do mount the throttle on the Desk Mount, without it's plate new plate (by its description is totally optional but from the picture it seems quite necessary)?
  20. VKB damn, the concept of their throttle was great but god know when it will be launched. AFAIK should be quite flexible. Unfortunately I don't think it will be as good as CH's (imo it has the best scripting language).
  21. They are normal HID stuff, you can assign them to whatever you want. DCS, when possibile, recognize and pre-assigns them
  22. If that was a joke, damn, you must really be the life of the party :noexpression: They can delay 3+ months more. I don't care as long as I don't have to be again in the same situation I am in currently: bought the T-50 in October, had a problem in mid May and nothing since then 'cause I have shipped it back to them for repairs but there's no ETA, no news.
  23. Guys, the throttle is a new project. Having delays is quite normal. I'd rather have a long delay (even longer than what they had) but no issues later on.
  24. I have built something similar starting from that guy's video as well. Hopefully it can help (I don't want to hijack the thread, so if you have questions just ask them there): https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3460373
  25. Throttles are being shipped, I've just got their email. It should take 7/10 days to be delivered (to UK). Then I'll put it somewhere waiting for my base to be repaired and shipped back..
