Just a small addition, The ability to fire either left or right smoke banks. This was a feature to British tanks for sure, others would need to be investigated. Also the ability to use smoke generators from either exhaust. Finally if you really want the trifecta of smoke. A smoke projectile. Being able to fire smoke for target identification, or using smoke to hide your movement with tactical placement.

Neutral Steering/ Pivot Steering for tracked vehicles
MarkMD replied to Hotel Tango's topic in Wish List
Just adding that this should only be done to the vehicles that can Neutral turn. It would an easy feature to implement, as it is just telling the vehicle to rotate on the spot. What would be even better, is to add power to the engine like it needs 2000 RPM to start the turn. Giving that great whine before the driver pulls the tiller, and turn that magical beast on a sixpence. -
The weapons on the ground units have been poor for a long time. Most AFV’s have a ready rack, unless it’s an auto loader. Having spent many a year teaching gunners how to load their tank, replenishment is a key fundamental part of the job. We teach that loading from the secondary ammunition is only done during lulls in battle. Your ready rack can be depleted quickly, so replenishment at the earliest time makes sense. Granted, it takes time to replenish, but you can do this on an adhoc basis. As soon as you have emptied rounds and charges from the ready racks, replenishment should be done immediately, the tank crew should be doing this automatically without the player interaction. One thing that is not taken into account is the crew experience, this would have a huge impact in the replenishment process. When reloading internally can be quick, a lot quicker than from a replenishment truck. The external MG ammo should not take any time as it’s generally kept in its containers. The COAX MG is replenished by unboxIng all ammo into a long bin. Depending upon tank type this can be over 3000 rounds. when loading the main gun, this can take around 6 seconds to load, each loading then around 6 seconds from your ready round rack. Loading from other parts of the tank is not recommended, and in my experience, never done. The extended loading times in DCS is completely incorrect in my opinion and should be removed. Tank commanders are trained to pull out of contact to carry this out. If you can’t get the ammo to reload, or has extra long loading times, stop the loading process and then select the correct weapon system. Sometimes this happens and requires you to manually stop and restart it again. Make sure you select either APFSDS, HEAT OR HESH. I hope this makes some sense and if you need more info please ask. Happy hunting, Mike-Delta

Leopard 2 turret "over rotation" while aiming (all variants)
MarkMD replied to Hotel Tango's topic in Bugs and Problems
What you’re experiencing is the drift of the turret from the sight. Modern tanks use a floating sight and the gun follows it, allowing the gunner to keep eyes on target while the loader is loading. When traversing excessively you end up seeing the main gun in the sight. You can try and downgrade your sighting system by pressing the Ctrl + F or Shift + F. This will give you a graticule sight and fix the sight to the gun. Happy hunting. Mike-Delta -
Challenger 2 consistent low damage with APFSDS
MarkMD replied to Hotel Tango's topic in Bugs and Problems
I’ve found that the best way to destroy enemy vehicles is to fire the HEAT, I mean HESH round. The challenger 2 should be using HESH but that’s an another question. I’ve found using this weapon on the T80 or T90 kills them with one shot. Good luck. Happy hunting. Mike-Delta -
CA has some really big issues, but I hope I can help you understand what is going on. When moving vehicles around the map, they are tethered by a string, it will stretch but other vehicles will stop until the string returns to normal. This is why your vehicles seem to bork around the map. I’ve found that you can limit the speed of the vehicles below 20 to get through towns and villages. If you have a particular dense town, make the vehicles go slower, alternatively you can avoid the towns altogether. I know this is a lot of work, but if you want your vehicles to get where they are to go, then doing this is the price to pay. Note, don’t bother trying to make your vehicles drive a perfect route, they will try and make it, but they will always have a mind of their own when driving around other vehicles, trees and buildings. Happy hunting. Mike-Delta

Sounds on CA have been patchy for some time, I hope this explains why. Some mod developers have used the CA sounds for their mods, this then has issues to vehicles not having engine sounds. As stated above, remove your mods and retest. I first came across this issue when they found the bug on the A4, they fixed it and mentioned how to fix others. If your still having issues, find the A4 mod and find the sound bug thread explaining how to fix it. happy hunting. Mike-Delta

Foreword: Sending my deepest thanks to Aplenwolf, for some of the most memorable times in DCS world. I send this with a whole in my heart and will miss our battles with combined arms. You (Alpenwolf) have tirelessly given so much to our community, making missions complex, interesting and most of all fun. History: I for one, wouldn't of met such a fantastic bunch of guy's helping each other to learn how to fly, use DCS in many new ways, with enjoyment along the way. The cold war 1947 - 1991 server was a meeting place for many players, and even though it was full on battle mode, many pilots came for the challenge. Over 9 years of helping pilots learn their craft over the skies on the Persian Gulf, Syria, and the Caucasus's. My last computer was from the same era, that's how long ago it was. Future of the cold war: Well, as far as we know, it's not to return. Using the missions on a regular server is no more. We have asked to use them, but Alpenwolf has asked that we don't use them. We respect that, he put hours of his own time and it's his choice to share them. Can we have them in similar missions of the future, sure, we have the missions, but it will not be the same full mission, as we only have part of the mission files. Dedicated server: Making a dedicated server in the short term is not possible, but the future will be something that we can make. I've been working on missions over the last year, learning and hosting missions for the small group cold war players. This I think will accelerate my efforts to finally create worthy missions for our cold war community. Closure: In my final words about the cold war 1947 - 1991, in the ashes of the old, grow a-new. We will return.... Thank you Alpenwolf!! Deepest Regards, Mark (Mike-Delta)

After locking onto the target 60+nm to the north, I lock on and fire from the back seat. After checking the F10 map, I see that the missiles are flying southbound. Here is a link to the video of this action: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1580633424 I hope this is just a one off. Thanks Mark Mike-Delta MikeDelta_DCS - Twitch

!Big Thank You! I just want to thank Alpenwolf for an amazing server, the work that he puts into the maps is incredible. Without the effort put in from him, we wouldn’t have the enjoyment that we all desire. The air battles are fantastic, close and in some cases down to the pilots skills to keep off the deck and make the other pilot crash due to a long dogfight. Information is key, the way to win all wars, it comes to communication with your pilot’s, and your ground commanders. There are many ways to get your message across. There are details Alpenwolf has provided to get messages to anyone in game, let’s use this to and not pretend it’s a single player game. Its been a great few days having the server populated, having a skilled opponent only does one thing, it makes you learn. Learn to combat their actions, learn to evade, learn then to fire and not to, learn to listen to call outs. This server has improved many pilots and ground commanders, they are amazing and a force to reckon with. If you go back to other multiplayer servers, you will quickly see how much you’ve improved. These are some of the useful things that this sever has done for many of our pilots, let’s try and keep this momentum going, streamers can help by advertising to their audiences, pilots can tell their friends, pass the word out, the server has many skilled pilots that are willing to help teach others. A big thank you to Alpenwolf, your an amazing person. I’ve had an amazing time here on the Cold War 1947-1991. May we have many fights together. Fly Safe, Mike-Delta
