Do you have a TRK?
-
IMHO, you should not use "Natural head movement view" (not to be confused with Head shift: LWIN-F1) when using TrackIR. It's kinda like putting an autopilot on your line of sight. There's a LUA modification to set the default to off, discussed in another thread. Head shift, is annoying to me and I turn it off, but still one might find it enjoayable. This simulates being tossed around in the cockpit by helicopter accelerations. It seems to me that the seatbelt "stiffness" is not right for a military-type harness.

I never tried Cachya, but TIR4 is VERY responsive.

All of these apply to both Single and Multiplayer. 1. This is a known, but yet unexplained issue. Look for existing threads. 2. This is a feature: laser burnout from overuse. Look for existing threads. 3. You probably ask too much of your engines. Watch the Engine Power Indicator (Flight Manual 2-60)

I want my (TrackIR) SDK! I got the opposite impression. I was asked to provide a description of the project, which I promptly did, including vision/concept and screen shots. They did not ask for a demo. I never heard back from them. What's the harm in giving me full enjoyability (including getting data) from my TrackIR? I guess they're afraid I'll sell their sensitive data to the Russians! (I'm a Cold War child ;)) I vowed never to encourage people to buy TrackIR, but that would be unfair to my fellow simmers - it's just too good a peripheral to pass on.
-
I have to join the rest of the gang. You don't buy TrackIR to use with you favorite sim... You buy new sims to play with your TrackIR. That's why I bought LOMAC and IL-2. The only thing I did not appreciate from NaturalPoint, is that they do not distribute their SDK to independant developers such as myself. I programmed my own flight simulator, but I have to use pp2joy as a hack to enable TrackIR. :(

Problems completing 'Clear Tkvarcheli'
Jack McCoy replied to GAJ52's topic in User Created Missions General
Using graphics settings "Scene : Low" will lower the level of difficulty of this mission, amongst others. -
Did you guys try to run without Fullscreen? Try 1024x768. If it works, leave Fullscreen off, but put the resolution to your LCD's native resolution.
-
As suggested, you can trim the heading, but that'll work only if you're not in Route mode. You can toggle it on or off with LSHF-H (Heading Hold AP channel), or use Flight Director mode, which turns off any AP navigation function.

How to randomize column's composition and arrangement?
Jack McCoy replied to joker62's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Please read our replies... You may find a hint. If you miss it, let me just say that Time Hold 23:00:00 is not set in your mission. -
Proper forum use Hi Tesla. After searching the forums to avoid duplicate threads, you should post one thread per topic: one for NVG, one for weapons use, one for rotor blades colliding. Regards.

Shooting Range mission completion?
Jack McCoy replied to Ah_Pook's topic in User Created Missions General
I just got my first repair this evening. -Land on concrete (I think I read that somewhere) -Shutdown chopper completely, blades stopped, rotor brake, etc. -Wait 3 minutes or so. (In single Player, accel the time with LCTRL-Z, 1x time LSHF-Z). There is no radio message to the crew to ask for repairs. --- Notice that when your Vikhrs are falling short, you don't get the TA-TD indication on the HUD. This probably indicates your laser is burned out from too much "ranging". Search the forums for a lot of discussion about "Problem with laser range finder". That's not the "Vikhr off" switch - that doesn't exist; it's the Targeting Computer Power switch. -
I commend the russians for this beautifull masterpiece

Order your TrackIR5 today! You won't believe the difference! -
Hi Wasp. Welcome to the forums. Your question is not tupid at all, but your title could be better: "Submarine models" "Ugly submarines" "Torpedoes from AI subs possible?" Whatever is representative of the SUBJECT. Enjoy the sim.

Aurelien, if you buy the French version, I guess this patch would apply to you: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=2364&scr=products&lang=en

Shooting Range mission completion?
Jack McCoy replied to Ah_Pook's topic in User Created Missions General
Notice that the hit buildings occur *before* the mission start. I think it has to do with the game engine setting up destroyed buildings. This mission suffers from a know issue that static object -of which this mission is made-, are much tougher than active units. You'll need 3-4 sometimes more Vikhrs for a tank. Attack soft targets for this one. We actually have TWO lights on the Ka-50. See the Flight Manual, Landing Lights and Voice Warning ("Betty") Control Panel switches 1 and 2, or L - RShift Light landing search On/Retraction/Off L - RCtrl Lights landing search change Main/Reserved -
How to randomize column's composition and arrangement?
Jack McCoy replied to joker62's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Could you confirm it's every 5 seconds? It could enable us to make more accurate calculations. This is good advice, but very difficult for the neophite to grasp. It would be known as a Poisson probability distribution: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poisson_distribution The key would be to keep the random very low, as you said. 50% every 5 seconds would yield very early triggers. And OMG, I can't believe I forgot to mention Hold Time 23:00:00! Good call! -
If you want to lose control... This is not an acobatic Extra-300, it's a helicoper. Rarely, if ever, do you need to put the stick to the stop (max), even in emergency situations. If the sight of an enemy makes you fly in such a way that you crash or damage your helicopter, I guess the enemy doesn't need weapons. :) EtherealN mentionned weight, and it is a good point. Expect high power requirement to fly fully loaded, in level flight, at 270 km/h. To reach full speed you don't ever need to pitch down more than 15-20 degrees MAX. It's actually more around 10 for 200 km/h. Corelating a pitch or bank to a resulting constant (expected) speed or turn rate is called attitude flying. See this article: http://helicopterflight.net/attitude_flying.htm So, in the Shark, trim-hold, pitch 15 down and hold it there until speed has built up and attitude "looks" right on the HUD pitch ladder, or looking at the horizon when over flat terrain (no mountains). Then release (set) trim. When you get the hang of it, you can pitch even more, but SOON you'll need to bring it back up, to your "constant speed, level flight" attitude. Good luck. Keep practicing smoothly. Be sure to know precisely what you want to do before you move the control to do it. This may sound bizarre but you'd be surprised how many times we don't focus on the task at hand, even if we think we're concentrating. This is something I realized in my ju-jitsu and aido (sword) training and is applicable to a lot of hand-eye coordination activities.

Did you select "All Axis"? This is not explicitly documented, but you must be in "All Axis" for axies to be recognized. EDIT: Ok, maybe "Axis Commands" :)
-
Empirical: Experimental Imperial: British units --- OT: I notice that too with Route mode. It made me believe that there is a "private" trim setting for no-route, route, and also hover mode. I realised when I trim precisely for hover, then engage the auto hover, it stays put, which is great. If I remove the auto hover and switch to route, the helicopter starts to pitch down and accelerate. If I trim for constant-speed, level flight, when I turn the route mode on, the helicopter pitches up and decelerates, until I don't know what speed, so we need to retrim when in route mode.

How to randomize column's composition and arrangement?
Jack McCoy replied to joker62's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
"If you are trying to get one of four "units"... " Yes, you'd need 4 different groups if that's what you wished for. Since it was 2:00 am and I was just to help out someone, I created only one group, with random playing on the time of appearance (look at TIME MORE). Cool? -
How to randomize column's composition and arrangement?
Jack McCoy replied to joker62's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
What Weta43 describes is implemented in the mission I uploaded. I'd like to point out that any subset of random bits is also random. For example, given 3 random bits (50%), B1, B2, B3, you have: B1-B2-B3 -> random 1-8 B1-B2 -> random 1-4 B1-B3 -> another random 1-4 B2-B3 -> another random 1-4 B1 -> random 1-2 (50%) B2 -> another random 1-2 B3 -> another random 1-2 The subgroups are not independant from the largest total, but if it's not important for your application, it saves a few trigger statements. DMarkwick, I'm sure you set up something like this: ONCE(popupAA) RANDOM(50) ACTIVATE(AAgroup) This will always eventually be true, because ONCE is evaluated every second until it's TRUE, then finally removed. To generate your random bits, use MISSION START. To get values from these bits, my example uses ONCE, but for FALSE conditions, they'll stay and be evaluated to FALSE until the end of the mission. If we were assured that the MISSION START statements are process in the order entered in the editor, it'd be better to use MISSION START for all, randomizing the bits first and getting the values afterwards. -

Random number generation technique Ok, I admit I was a bit testy, but I'm cool now. :) Let me try to be more constructive. Check this mission out. Enjoy. RandomNumberTechnique-JackMcCoy.miz -

3+3 = 6, yes, but I asked for 2+2 You're right and you're wrong. I used the figures as given by Dusty...
