Just general troubleshooting, I would have suspected disk-related issues, like: - Drivers for mainboard (storage drivers & interface drivers) - Drivers for Graphics adapter. - Possibly very full disks, either system-disk is almost or game-disk. - Possibly minor data/index problems with any of the disks. Run CHKDSK C: /f and CHKDSK D: /F etc. - Disconnect all USB devices, may cause the USB bus to go into overdrive for some devices. Thats where I would have started. - Then I would have tried resetting BIOS to defaults, ensuring I didnt use any O/C. - Ensuring that other relevant drivers were up to date. If problem persist, please attach info about: - DxDiag repot (attachment) - Which missions where you can produce it. - At what settings you can produce it (screenshots of ingame settings) Have a look at Nate's signature - his signature is a live troubleshooting encyclopedia: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1168539&postcount=10

Want "no graphics" for your DCS:WH MP server?
Panzertard replied to Panzertard's topic in Multiplayer
Good, looking forward to hear your findings, Moa. o7 PS: OT, but relevant for you regarding VM's, check out this one over at the 159th forums: http://www.159thgar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=50497#p50497 -
Want "no graphics" for your DCS:WH MP server?
Panzertard replied to Panzertard's topic in Multiplayer
You will need a decent enough graphics to bring up the MP-menus. You still get the standard GUI for "create server" and all of that, which requires DirectX. So my guess is that you need a minimum set of graphics capabilitites - but you will no longer have to watch your server suffer under Rendering the whole battelfield after you pressed "Start Server". So lets try this variant: Q: Server won't need a graphics adapter anymore? A: Yes it will, but no longer a monster adapter. -
Look no further. With DCS:WH you can now disable the 3d-rendering engine for your server. No longer necesarry to switch it to F10 map very time you start a new mission - or other crazy lua hacks. Keep in mind, this is a "non-supported feature", since it's not recieved much testing yet. Regarding support issues: If you have problems with your server later, you need to re-enable the rendering to verify that the setting isn't causing you problems. The setting? \Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Config\graphics.cfg Change render3D = true; into render3D = false; (Ps, server admins know by now that they should use notepad++ for all editing of cfg/lua, right?). It speaks for itself that this feature is not available for FC2 or DCS:BS 102 or earlier. A big thanks to ED who gave us this. We server admins thank you yet again. o7 I forgot to add tags and keywords like, so here they are: dcs-a10 mp dedicated

Is he able to add hos \temp\network-<date>-<time>.log from a failed session here? Assuming FC2\DCS:BS. And assuming that all servers he tested had people in them and were running for everybody else. Empty servers may be paused for another reason. If the assumptions are wrong - please tell us.

Hope for another FC2 compatibility patch
Panzertard replied to Distiler's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Ah, a bit late - some forums don't get that much of attention as it should. :music_whistling: Some facts: - DCS:BS 1.x family was built with a whole new engine compared to FC1 - FC2 received the new same game engine as DCS:BS This was probably one of the factors that caused the FC1->FC2 to cost so much time. Remember all the stuff like 6dof cockpits, weapons and threats should work for both Migs, Sukhois, US jets, as well as Ka-50's? RWR and LWR should work in the same manner for both sims? Radio and AI acting in the same manner? The good news: This work is done this time. DCS 102 and FC2 102 is now sharing the same game engine in most parts. You can see that for yourself, just check the files. DCS:WH is just another iteration of the engine for DCS:BS 102 and FC2 102. DCS:BS 103(?) will be based from this version, but should in many part be compatible since they are part of the same base-engine. If ED didnt break too much, it should go smooth. Which means? FC2 will not need that huge amount of work to update, if you compare it from the FC1->FC2 upgrade. FC2 as for compatability with the DCS family: - Yes please. FC2 still acts as a recruiting office for the community, it's the entry level into many Squads. It will encourage them to stay in the community and many of them will buy the standalone DCS sims. If you split off the FC2 at this stage, the FC community will slowly start to branch off - not expanding as quickly, not recruiting so many new pilots as fast as it could. IMO, which leads me to think: * FC2 compatability, good for the community, good for ED, good for business = good for the community, good for ... If it means waiting a couple of extra couple of months, it's definitively worth it. -

Please see: How to contact Support Forum is not monitored for support-cases. It'll be quicker for you to contact support using one of the channels described there. :) But in normal circumstances, please allow 28 days for handling and shipment. The support-backlog is a tad big right now from what they said a week ago, so by the time you see a response to the ticket, you may have received the box already.

Hello rattler. Unfortunate that you lost the activation, but let me try to guide you in the right direction. Normally you shouldn't have lost any activations. However, if you need to replenish them manually, you can do so by contacting support. Keep in mind that they wont replenish them until you run out, so when you've spent your last one. Please check how to contact support here: How to contact Support

Thanks c0ff, now there's a chance we'll be able to figure out what's causing this problem then.

At last I must ask a serious question - ServMan. We were using it last night, hence it can be related to ServMan. Has anyone seen this problem on servers not controlled by ServMan? 104th runs without Servman these days - have anyone experienced the problem since Christmas or so? Other servers not runnign Servman?

Okai, assuming the disk-observations was a fluke, checking the logs on the server and clients. I did find something which could indicate a fail when comparing it to working logs. \temp\network-<date>-<time>.log contains this string when it has failed: "offset=-1.#IND00, error=-1.#IND00" At the times I connected correctly regular values can be found there instead. See below samples. Collected a few Client & server logs. Client fail log: Corresponding server log: Another round of fail, client logs: Server logs, another strange message: A working client-server relationship: Server side logs, no change from previous attempts:

Nope, I don't think so. Tried reconnecting and testing the issue last night for about 30 times. It may be the same symptoms - but not the same issue.

So there I was, planning to have a real nice evening with the blokes at 159th - squad night. - Coffe & sugar, check - TIR loaded, check - Map, brief, pen and paper, check - TM Hotas loaded, check. - DCS Ka-50 MP, loaded, check - TS3, check I'm loading up and entering the server. Me: "Hey gents, can we unpause anytime soon?" They: "Uh, we're airborne ... stay away from those drugs of yours!" So there I was, with a paused MP session in Ka-50. Working fine last thursday. (4 days ago). -------------------------------- Analyzing the problem: Tested FC2 from same drive - same result. Server appears to be paused for my MP client. Tested from another computer - working fine. .. after hours of analyzing .. testing AV off, network settings (IP4offload, energy saving etc etc), FW off, ... no change to the situation. Then I tested an older copy from my F:\ drive - Working! Server not paused, can fly. Copying the working F:\ version over to my D:\ drive. - New copy not working from D:\ - server appears to be paused. As well as a session timeout of I try to fly. Copying from D:\ - the very same files I just tested above - to E:\ and retesting: - Working again. Conclusion - the files themselves are not corrupt. But the result differs depending on what Volume I have stored it on. Disk setup Volume 0 (RAID0, stripe) 128kb sectors: 2 x SSD drives - Contains C:\ and D:\ Volume 1 (RAID0, stripe) 64kb sectors: 2 x Raptor drives - Contains E:\ and F:\ -------------------------------- Facts: Starting Ka-50 or FC2 from C:\ or D:\, SSD Raid volume - Pause session, Server timeout. Starting Ka-50 or FC2 from E:\ or F:\, Harddrive Raid volume - Success. DCS:BS and FC2 are both 102, no mods, no modman. I'm a tester so I really dont want any polluted installations. If anyone can make any sense out of this conclusion, I'll be happy to learn why. PS: All disk-volumes have been checked using CHKDSK /F - no problems found at the time for any of the volumes. o7

From this: To clarify to anyone who still didn't get it: - ED Testers or Moderators are volunteers and have no insight of ED business processes. Still, since the thread started it has created a new truth and questions like this is starting to emerge: :D What will be the next questions? :D Allright, keep speculating - but keep in mind: - What if .. ED owns the domain for other reasons? I'm just saying - non of us knows why they own the domain. o7 :)
