Seeing this bug in the mission the 104th is currently hosting, it is incredibly irritating when the moon disappears like this, makes the mission very very difficult due to the severe darkness levels. edit: it also seems to happen at dawn also, just as the moon reaches the horizon it disappears then reappears just before sunrise.

Can you see the server in the MP list? Also remember that the 104th is hosting Open Beta 2.5.2 at present so make sure you have the very latest version. If problems persist please contact an admin either in the 104th forums or Teamspeak.

[MERGED] DirectX 11/12, OpenGL, VulkanAPI Discussion
Mustang replied to Cskelly's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
^^ YAY loved Strike Commander, was thinking about the detail in the cities and thought of this game, oh far we have come  P.S: Eagle Dynamics, you have really excelled with this terrain module you should all be immensely proud of yourselves. -
Oldie of a video but the first part shows how rain clears on the glass on an F-18 during takeoff, good to compare with DCS

DCS Persian Gulf - terrain noise tiles fix.
Mustang replied to Mustang's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
Mod tested and confirmed working ok with todays DCS update 3 2.5.2.18307. edit: little update to package, fixed a small problem in terrainoptions41.lua that was causing some graphical anomalies on terrain surfaces on far areas of the map. -

I don't think it affects Caucasus in any way, only the NTTR and Persian Gulf (I don't own the Normandy map but it *might* affect it) -
Yep using a 500gb Samsung 850 EVO SATA 3 drive since last august and it's been amazing, best thing I did for this machine in ages.

That would be a big problem right there, I would purchase an SSD over extra RAM first.

DCS Persian Gulf - terrain noise tiles fix.
Mustang replied to Mustang's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
Just updated the mod package a little: * Removed the soft mipmap sharpen from the 5 textures (in hindsight it's unnecessary and spoils the image a little) * Changed the updatestep parameters in terrainoptions41.lua (increased to 512 from 256) I'll try to obtain some pics later of how it looks now but it's quite subtle in a see for yourself kinda way :) -

Hmm not sure what the problem is on your end it functions fine here for hours on end on a machine far less capable than yours and in an MP environment that is highly taxing, sorry. Anyways a few pics -

I gave the modified textures a tiny sharpening boost via the mipmaps, I *think* they look a bit better. edit: took the sharpening away now in latest version, they actually work better without it. -

Quite likely since Nevada shares this file, try it and see :) -

I have just added a tuned terrainoptions41.lua to the package, this improves the quality of the terrain textures - I have been testing this extensively for days and I cannot see any difference in terms of FPS impact. Before alterations: After alterations: -

Hey all thought I'd share this little alteration I made for the Persian Gulf map, it fixes the unsightly faint terrain repetition stripes that you can occasionally see across the terrain, an example of before and after: stock textures after the corrections Download link (24mb) updated 11th Dec 2020 - included altered Hormuz.lua file for enahnced colour and gamma levels. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1T2hZqDiDdLVOl5EgB2yS57GDB9kUkqtK/view?usp=sharing To use simply extract the 'Mods' folder to the root directory of DCS World Be aware that many multiplayer servers do not allow the use of texture modifications and using this mod may make you fail integrity check (104th Dedicated server allows the use of modified textures) -
I'm still in the AV-8B and F-15, heck even getting in some J-11A time (those 18's are easy pickings at present :))

Persian Gulf Map Mod Request.

Those settings control the distance of the buildings/trees/structures all around the player, it doesn't affect the draw distance of the grass and rocks. -
Persian Gulf Map Mod Request.
Mustang replied to Vandal71's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I reckon this one is non-fixable from our end, the most likely place this would have been controlled from would be the terrain.cfg.lua, but unfortunately in the Gulf map the file is on lockdown (terrain.cfg.lua.dll.crypt) only way is for ED to take a look at this. -
Still thinking about those 2 R-77's you sent into my face in that merge last night, you reds put up a great fight :)
-
Whoa I hadn't looked at the map like this in the Mission Editor yet, they've really got the bulk of the Persian Gulf covered minus the details (would be epic to have Qatar and Bahrain added and other locations like Bushehr and Khark Island on the Iranian coast..... the possibilities there are huge!

Mustang replied to Mustang's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
