Finally figured out my collective friction (hand brake) problem. Stole some of Triggers design and it works perfectly. I will post some pics of the setup in a bit.

I follow your logic...but can you simply add the 4th display to triple head to make it 4 monitors wide? 3 on the one DVI (triplehead) and one on the second DVI.
-
i am glad you got it working =). If you don't mind me asking are you going to run a 4th monitor for the Shkval and Abris?

You are setting the bar to high for the rest of us? LOL =) Seriously it's going to be one good looking rig!!! -
multi monitor picture request !
Schwinn replied to hannibal's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
This is what I am going to do. I was able to resize the Shkval and the Abris to fit my cockpit measurements on a 22" wide. I will simply put the monitor behind the instrument panel and build a Abris bar. -

Wow. Good looking woman and a simpit. Is she going to serve you in flight snacks? hehe -
lol I have the same case as well =) the 900 =) I love the airflow with the fans on max.

Weird. I typed a response and hit P Q R but it did not post it lol ...DAMN. I like your Nostromo idea for the collective simple but effective and less soldering to get it to work!! I also have two Thrustmaster pedals, one gold annodized and one black plastic. I think I am going to replace the foot part with ones that look like the ones Trigger made tho. A quick question about the collective do you have any kind of friction at all to hold the collective in any position?
-
Good luck I hope it works out for you!! Yes the Matrox is way over priced for what it is. But thats them French Canadians for you hehe.
-
I am curious are you going to build a collective or use your TQS? (I am making an assumption of course that you have one hehe)
-
Yes but your two cards are going to perform differently...so two screens on your 285 would in theory run smoother then your other one? The second card still handles the processing that the single monitor is needing. I am not saying it won't work I am just playing devils advocate with having mixed cards.
-
I would think not having identical video cards in the system would be just inviting problems to your simulation doorstep =) That is of course just my opinion.
-
On a side note I am going to build the base for this beast and I was wondering if anyone knows the measurement from the base of the pedestal (closest to seat) to the back wall?
-
Its a nice looking pit. I have a soft spot for the F18 =)

Dual Monitor Headache, Tried Everything
Schwinn replied to goon3r's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
My understanding is it won't work if you just use windows to extend the desktop to the second monitor. You have to use software that "spans" the desktop. Nvidia has their own control panel and ATI does it as well I am not sure what the ATI one is called. If i used the Nvidia multi monitor wizard it worked. If i used the Windows extend feature it did not. I am not 100% sure but I also think you have to run BS in windowed mode in order for multi monitor to work under Vista. -
Sheepskin cover.....maybe to comfortable?

She is a nurse and has been working 5 - 12 hour shifts in a row =) so lots of me time. My kids are 20 and 16. When we first married I used to play Airwarrior on Kesmai which I paid hourly for and logged over 500 hours one year (at 10.00 per hour - 6 for internet per hour and I am pretty sure 4 per hour for Airwarrior). She has allways told me she prefers me to have this hobby instead of muscle cars or drinking hehe =) I just wish I could get my kids into flight sims as it would be cool to have a gunner for that upcoming Apache sim =) LoL
-
Are you my wife? Lol she told me the same thing more or less this morning =) When I fly sims I can sit there for up to 8 hours sometimes and I am sure my butt would be thanking me hehe
-
Lol wow that seat is really dirty. i didn't really notice until I took the picture and light hit it. I am not sure whether to get a seat cover or just buy a new seat from a trucking repair shop.

Not alot but a little progress Things have been slow going lately. Apparently putting your wife through university is quite expensive. At any rate here are a few things I have done. I am going to use my FLightstick Pro as the cyclic as it is the one that closely resembles the KA50 cyclic. If you notice I have added a CV joint boot to the base of the stick. Unfortunatley the room it is in is fairly small so it is really hard to get good photos that encompass everything =) Here is the projector screen. I know I am really close to it but there is no room to sit farther back. Being that I am 37 feeling like I am going on 60 this distance suits me just fine. Here is a close up of the start of my collective (the switches and buttons are sitting inside the box atm as I haven't had time to install them). Not as high fidelity as Triggers but this is revision 1. Revision 2 will be when my wife gets a few paychecks and she buys me a CNC router. I have made a decision to build this cockpit out of metal as well. My son is a welder and I never thought to tap into that resource =). He seemed pretty excited at the idea that he could help me do this. So at the end of this month I am buying a metal break (bender) and an electric nibbler.

Lol!!! I will second that. I surf your thread about 5 times a day hoping for updates =) LOL my wife thinks I am nuts. If she only knew hehe. -
I have about 30 min flight time as PIC in a Bell Jetranger 206 and I don't remember the pedals having any feedback at all to them. They were really easy to push at any speed and I never felt anything. At speed the helicopter performed like a Cessna 172 and I didn't push the rudders in either direction. Of course with that said this is a military sim so maybe they do behave differently?
