You know. If any of these joystick companies were "on the ball" they would make a base unit for a flight stick with interchangeable grips (handles).I would happily spend a lot of moola to get a new grip for different jets/helos.
So I emailed my boss about any used 10" to 15" LCD's they had with damaged parts on them thinking I could use one or two of them for my pit and he offers me a 15" LCD touchscreen. I asked him how much and he said its yours if you want it. Obviously I said yes but I am not sure how to integrate it into the cockpit or if I even will.
How will you get the digital picture frames to accept a video input from your video card? I have been looking at this as well and I am not sure its possible.
I had to make room for my second monitor...so I said sorry sweetie you gotta go!!! To which she replied go stand behind our truck please =)
On a side note she just finished her Nursing degree at university and one of the deals was I can retrain when she is done. She asked me last night what I wanted to do and I said I am not sure. She said what about becoming a helicopter pilot....have I mentioned I love her =)
A quick update. I have started the collective. I am trying to use some old CH Products sticks I had laying around. The cyclic is a CH Products Force FX force feedback stick and the collective is a Flightstick Pro. At a later date I might try to make a stick from scratch.
I have been searching for the proper switches to buy. All I can find are Mom On - Off - Mom On or Mom On - Off. If you move the switch you get a momentary contact and the sim gets a button press but how do you make it so the sim gets a momentary press for on and a momentary press for off? What types of switches are you using? Any thoughts on this matter are appreciated.

Yeah I was looking at this one
InFocus X10 DLP Home Theater - 1080p, 1200 Lumens, 2500:1, HDMI, , 14.1 Lbs

I am going to try it first. If for some reason it doesn't work I will replace it. I can't remember for sure but I think it is 800x600 or 640x480...might be a tad to small to game on.
Right after you asked me that I went surfing...and well I guess I am going to buy a new projector LOL
Epson EMP -TW20
Good: Good entry-level home cinema projector
Bad: Not so good for games projection
It's a costco special paid about 1000.00 Cad including a 82" screen. The model is Epson EMP -TW20. If it does not function with the sim very well I am going to buy a new one that does high resolutions.
Here is something I dug up. I am going to refinish it white. Its an SPH-5 helicopter helmet courtesy of my pilot buddy. He bought it but his head was to big to fit it...literally LOL.
Hello again,
Here are a few pics of my KA 50 pit. I am using TriggerHappy's schematics for most of the dimensions. I tried to make a wooden seat using the guess technique; however, that did not turn out so well. I think I am going to use a car seat for comfort reasons.
If you have any ideas or suggestions please feel free to fire away! :joystick:
Pedestal (the start)
Pedestal with the cyclic roughed in.
Pedestal and front instrument panel with the cyclic mounted
I did some multi monitor testing to see how they worked. I am planning on putting the 22" Acer to the right behind the panel and using my projector on a 82" widescreen for the main picture.
Fantastic!! Thank you so much Triggerhappy. Unfortunately I do not know any russian heli pilots in Canada =)...I do however know a very big newfie (Newfounlander) pilot who when he sits in the Huges 500 hits his head on the roof ;)
Hey guys nice to meet you all!
I have been following Triggerhappy's build for a while now (trolling I must admit) and I decided to give it a shot myself. I have the pedestal built (pic's soon) but I am not sure of the length of the cyclic from the hole in the pedestal to the top of the cyclic. Does anyone have this handy by chance?
