Mission Help, Deployment - Coda (Koda)
Warbird_242 replied to C. Patrick's topic in User Created Missions General
As you trigger the final event, your wingman should say 'bandit spotted' or similar. Just tell him to engage > Wingman 2> engage> engage bandits and he should shoot him down. If that doesn't work then make him jettison all his weapons so he goes straight for cannon and do the same thing. Or, you might find it easier using the cannon with the gunsight not the SHKVAL - just press c with the SHKVAL caged ( backspace) -
Sweinhart, one tactic you can try that might help is the following ( Taken from Ed Macy's APACHE). Find a safe position, engage autohover ( if you're skilled enough you just go straight to attacking) , uncage the SHKVAL. Use the SHKVAL to find a target, then get a lock on it. Use the laser as well, because it provides slightly more accurate targeting. Select rockets and start a run in to the target ( I find 150kph works well). As the rocket target reticule lines up with the SHKVAL reticule, depress the button. Then push down slowly to keep the two reticules lined up, and fire off as ,amy rockets as you like. Hope that helps Warbird

I think it's fairly realistic that it take 2+ hits to destroy an Abrams. A fairly old missile against an MBT that's being constantly updated? And does DCS model explosive reactive armour? Because that would be a pretty potent defense against a ATGM
-
Try this - Ed Macy's APACHE - from amazon. It has some useful tips on rocket aiming; you'll probably recognize the differnt aiming methods from Black Shark. The rockets are very accurate against a large and static target, for example a FARP or building, or non-moving cluster of vehicles. If you run out of Vikhirs, HE cannon is usually next best. RE the 1 second delay the only method of getting around that problem that I've found is to line up with the target, and float the rocket aiming reticule slowly up with the forward motion ( obviously works better at long range). Then as the reticule hits the targets, depress button, and gradually increase forward pressure on the stick to keep the target lined up.

New Mission - Helping Hand
Warbird_242 replied to Warbird_242's topic in User Created Missions General
come on... please say what you think!!!! Even if it is **** tell me please :) -
seems like I've met my match - not many people know as much as that sir! I Salute you!
-
also zorrin - many FLAPLESS taildraggers use a method of approach ( i can't recall right now the name) that involves a curved arc starting before your normal downwind-final turning point ( and I know that varies from plane to plane and wind conditions). This keeps the runway in sight until lined up over the runway - the same effect as sideslip
-
yes I think zorrin's right... let's all agree to disagree and get back on topic!!!!:pilotfly:<<< wait no he's fized wing isn't he :D and zorrin - next time tell the bloke in front to duck or die!!!1 :D:D:D:D

redberon, the 'Forward' slip is more often that not referred to as a sideslip. Check your AFE PPL Course book if you don't believe me:smartass: Yes the sideslip is the correct term for a landing technique, but if you are really going to be that pedantic then the 'Crab' is not the Forward slip, but the crosswing landing technique. Check your AFE PPL Course book if you don't believe me:smartass: And I just realised In my previous post instead of stall speed i said approach speed. Check your AFE PPL Course book if you don't believe me:smartass: And Zorrin, love the sig - had me laughing a lot
-
Zorrin, you imply that without sidesliup you cannot have a nose down approach attitude? That is wrong - you defintely can! Also the approach speed has no relevance. Side slipping does not reduce your approach spped, in fact in the latter stages of landing it will reduce it - visualise a plane sideslipping - airflow is diagonal across the wing, disrupting the airflow and reducing lift therefore increasing stalls speed. The function of the sideslip is to allow a higher descent rate without the corresponding increase in speed, often used when approaching too high to a runway or, as Frazer says, a shorter strip with an obstacle on approach. You should trust Frazer... have you seen that track!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D And Frazer, you have just started a whole discussion on this:D whoopsie daisies

MODERATOR!!!!:music_whistling: hehehehe Which guy? And you're being a bit harsh - I think you mean oldflyer - if you don't disregard what i am about to say but Oldflyer has a right to say what he likes about the flight model... even if he is wrong:music_whistling::D:D:D Warbird

Frazer, you have completely depressed me! After about a month of trying to pull of manouvers like you have done, I thought I had them. Now I realise I know **** all !!!!!! Seriously, some truly brilliant flying.... now off i go to practice:joystick: Salute Frazer!

THOSE 28 PEOPLE WHO HAVE DOWNLOADED THIS PLEASE COMMENT!!!!!!!!!! NOW 29!!!! PLEASEE PLEASSSSE COMMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi All Thought I'd share this mission with you. I was making my campaign, and I made this mission that I quite enjoyed. It's short and simple, and uses mainly the Ed Macys Apache style scenarios. It doesn't have a proper standalone briefing, because as I said, it's part of a campaign, but i'll give you a brief overview. Western Georgia has been overrun with terrorist insurgents, and it has called on NATO and Russian Help. Both sides agree, and therefore, soon cooperative ( NATO/Russia) missions start. This is a cooperative mission to clear out a town of insurgents to use the airbase. It's not very polished, and is really easy, but it's a bit of fun. Warbird PS. I doubt it'll happen here, you all seem like very nice people:D, but sometimes posting missions for other games, people start hurling abuse if they don't like it. So please don't.:D:D:D Please rate the mission by the way Helping Hand 2.miz

I think in most fatal ejections, the cause of death is not the pilot ejecting upside down or into a mountain etc, I think it is that the velocity of the plane( which is usually heading into the ground) is so great that even if the ejector seat functions perfectly, the whole thing has to decellerate from 600+ knots to about 20 in less than a second, which is physically impossible. <<< Don't quote me on that, but you get the jist:smartass:

Okay, thanks very much for the reply.

Hi all Searching has yielded nothing, so here goes. I've been building some missions, primarily anti-Taliban Apache type missions ( obviously with the '50), where the main enemy is the infantry. The problem is, with moving infantry and static, the infantry seems to have a very very narrow field of fire, mabye 30-40 degrees. Is there a way of making the infantry move around (swivel) and engage targets behind them for example. Also, Is there an Il2 type terrain camera with which you can quick view the area you're placing stuff in? Thanks for your help in advance Warbirdie

Warbird_242 replied to Warbird_242's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Right, I guess the problem is that I changed the file ( it was HMS colour) just a single line to green, and resaved it. Started DCS, didn't have a cockpit, but all flight controls still worked. Shut down DCS, changed file back EXACTLY how it was ( the file is C/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/KA-50/Scripts/Aircrafts/KA-50/Cockpit/Materials.lua) , restarted DCS, and it was the same problem. Thanks evryone for your help - I will explain in a bit more detail. I'm pretty sure this isn't a problem with the PC or DCS itself, but the files unless it was an extraordinary coincidence that at the exact moment I changed the files I got that problem. The problem is in game ( the menus seem to be fine) I had the model, and external views were fine, just the cockpit seemed to be completely missing. I can't really explain it better than that. Mabye the easiest solution would be if I PM someone my email and you send me the materials file??? I hope that clarifies the issue a bit more, althought re-reading the post makes me think I've just complicated it. By the way, if you're having problems with frame rates, wiping the cockpit really helps... does offer some problems with playabilty :P -
Hi everyone. Recently I tried to edit a Lua file, but as I opened it ( or tried to), I got a message choose which program to open. I chose notepad, and now ( i havent edited the file) My game is a bit, no very strange. My apologies for this stupid mistake, and I already know I shouldnt be messing with scripts. Could someone notify me on how to change the file types back. ( They are still listed as LUA files, but when I click on them they open in notepad. Thanks Warbird

Everyone wants a multirole, but no-ones mentioned two variants of the same plane. Ok that's rubbish I just want the Tornado GR4/GR1 or, of course, the Tornado F3!!!!!!! yay. The majority want the harrier though, and I'd love that. What about the Sea Harrier??? Multi - role ( yes!!!), BVR, short range and V/STOL. All the info would be available and a hell of a lot of fun to fly
-
ok thanks everyone
-
Ok thanks. So I am guessing it wasn't just me being stupid? If that is so, why the startup and shutdown tutorial??

Hello everyone What a fantastic game. I am just about competent with the complex and awesome system, but the real beauty of this game is for me, the graphics!!! amazing anyway, I have a small problem that I suspect is me being stupid. I want to excercise my newfound engine startup skils, but on starting the campaign Deployment I think or the first one at least, the engines are running. Is there an easy way around this?? Thankyou Warbird
