  1. They just might if you mention it's for a specific group of simmers in anticipation of the Upcoming A-10C simulation. ;)
  2. Once again, thank you for the responses! You guys are truly one of a kind. ;) What I think I'm going to do is wait and see how much the TM Warthog will actually retail for, and then based on that I will either grab that, or just go with the X52 Pro. I've been dealing with the HAT switch as my view thingy for more than a year now, I think I can deal with it a little longer. Haha. But after I grab that HOTAS I will def. be saving up for a TIR. In the meantime I might build one of those other solutions you all have been suggesting.
  3. Considering how extensive the control modifications are in DCS:BS, I'm sure you could do this. (Not 100%, but... yeah).
  4. This! That would be so awesome! Especially snaking around buildings, or flying at street level between the sky scrapers to avoid radar detection/reduce sound signature. You sir, win.
  5. Thank you for the overwhelming response everyone! This is why I love this community! =D Based on the responses I'm seeing, I've decided to go with the HOTAS first, then save up some money for TrackIR, or do a free alternative or something. So now the question is, what HOTAS? Unfortunately, I am on a limited budget, so nothing extravagant (i.e. the Logitech G-4000 or whatever it is that sucks anyways). I've thought about the Thrustmaster Warthog, but everything I've seen says it's going to be somewhere in the ballpark of $400, which is way too expensive. So what are my choices? Saitek X52? X52Pro?
  6. Seeing extra heat sources may be a problem for me, as there is a window to my back. =( Not really any way to remedy that. Currently I have a Logitech Extreme3D Pro, which is a great joystick for, say, Flight Simulator, but I find that in DCS I bump the throttle a lot, which really screws me up. I also find that there just aren't enough buttons in a natural place for me. On the other hand however, I would REALLY like to have a more natural way to look around the cockpit than the HAT switch, then I could use the HAT for the Shkval without holding alt. Will the window to my back totally screw up TrackIR to the point that it would just be better for me to grab a HOTAS? Also, I have Blackout blinds which are down during the day, but I'm pretty sure the sun heats them up, especially since it's beating on them all day.
  7. Which is more important? I can only get one or the other. I've been seriously wanting TrackIR for awhile for some other games as well (specifcally ARMA2, BF2, FSX). But a HOTAS would be really really nice for the extra buttons, plus my throttle slider right now is WAY too sensitive (no way I can really fix that though). What are your thoughts?
  8. Apologies if this has been answered before, didn't see anything in my skimming, or a search: When will the A-10 page on digitalcombatsimulator.com be added to the English page?
  9. The eye can see more than 25fps. It can see far more, the problem is the brain cannot process that information and in fact discards most of it. Anyways. Back on topic (what the third post in this topic. =P). I'm really surprised you're experiencing an FPS issue. You didn't really provide a budget, so it's hard to give you suggestions. Currently I'm running a Phenom II X4 945 @ stock 3.0Ghz and I have completely smooth game, at least 40+ fps, I haven't really measured (4gb DDR3 @ 1600mhz, ATi HD5770, WD Caviar Black 1TB, Win7x86-64).
  10. The AN-94 is beautiful. I love it. I was really sad when i got the HK416 (NOT M416!!!) and it sucked. =( Also, have you gotten the MG3 for Medic yet? Leaps and bounds better than the M60. The firerate is incredible and the damage is amazing (should be same as M60 since it uses the same round, but I'm not sure). And it sounds amazing too. Just like an MG42. ;) If anyone who has the game wants to add me to their friends list feel free: tkmr I usually try to keep my squad working together (and just leave if there is a sniper. I hate snipers). That's one thing about the game that just pisses me off, is the sheer amount of snipers. I love it when I get a good squad though, we just blaze through the map and kick ass! =D I think rush is my favourite game mode atm. Squad rush is fun too, though not for point whores. ;)
  11. Wow great work! Definitely looking forward to the final version! Rep inbound! The only thing I would suggest is just checking the grid against it's real life counterpart. Maybe with google earth or something? Would be cool to be able to look at the map, figure at latlng coords, (even if just a general area) for entering into the Rubicon. ;)

    Manchuria WIP

This looks fantastic! Definitely a lot of potential missions/campaign possibilities! Looking forward to that video, though if GA is going around teasing about ANOTHER video, I might be taken in to the looney bin. =P
  13. IIRC the USAF WILL replace the A-10 with the F-35. I'll see if I can pull up a source. EDIT: http://www.airforce-magazine.com/MagazineArchive/Pages/2007/March%202007/0307force.aspx
  14. I hope to see FC2.0 really soon. Not because I want it, but because that means that work will be proceeding on A-10C. =D
  15. Was running the server from my own computer, and I don't have servman, so that's not the problem. I'm starting to think I may have done something wrong. Pushed the wrong button or something. I'll do some more tests tomorrow and see if I have the same problem. Thank you for the responses so far though! Gotta love this community. =)
  16. That's an awesome image! O.O
  17. Depends how many of my choppers are littering the runway because I was screwing around when taking off. ;) Usually I do a rolling landing at a runway. FARPs or debris-filled runways, I do a hover landing. Sometimes those hover landings don't go very smoothly and I end up pulling a topdog. ;)
  18. I checked and they weren't there, which I thought was strange. That's where all my screenshots taken in singleplayer were. Odd. =/
  19. Where are they located? I've searched everywhere and can't find them.
  20. Too bad he doesn't have a co-ax rotor system so he doesn't have to worry about a tail rotor getting hit. ;) Though with as many bullet holes as it has, I doubt it would matter haha.
  21. Baaaack on topic now: I know someone in this community is working on this right now, but it would be nice if ED did this: Include a map of the region in the game box. Some games have done this, I know Bethesda Softworks did it with Oblivion, granted that wasn't the most detailed map and just gave a rough scale and such, but since this is modeled on real world terrain, sattelite imagery could be used. And then also maybe include a .pdf file on the game disk with a map you can print out to use on a kneeboard, so when you are reading through the mission briefing you can print out a map page pertaining to the area where you will be operating, and draw different things on it-the front line, where friendly units will be and their expected routes, where KNOWN enemy units are, etc. Not sure what the scale would be. But detailed enough that you could quickly look at it. IMHO it would be something like a sattelite images with a topographical overlay. This would be awesome and would deff. help with mission planning, and as a mission designer it would help as well, being able to look at the map and plan out routes for the helo, ground units, etc. Currently I am using Google Earth to do this, but would much prefer a piece of paper to draw on. If this post doesn't make any sense at all, let me know and I'll try and clarify. I'm tired/medicated and rambling. haha. =)
  22. You know what would help with this? A map to print out. Pretty much like a kneeboard... on you knees, instead of in the sim. I think someone is working on this, and that will be immensely helpful. Maybe something ED should consider including when you buy the game. Off to the wishlist thread! :)
  23. Very cool! Thank you for sharing! =)
  24. Aren't we strapped in by a harness in case we DO eject?
  25. Sounds awesome! While doing the live thing would definitely be much more cool, submitting tracks would be better imo, just so EVERYONE has the chance to compete (it can take months to get everyone together to perform in a short time frame =P) It sounds really awesome though. Too bad we can't spawn hoops in the air to fly through. Heh.
