Are you talking about the non pro version only????? I bought my X-52 Pro about 2 years ago and everything still calibrates ok (touching wood) I just opened it up for the first time this week just to clean it out and reapply some grease. Its a good value stick for me, My first HOTAS and its lasted two years

I always had nVidia powering my sims until now. Il2 could be run with no limits with nvidia cards but with ATI there were limitations Are you running water = 4 water = 2 In Il2 config. This ATI 5770 breaks 3 generations of nvidia for me. My last ATI was a 9600XT which i ditched soon after i installed IL2 FB for a 6600GT BTW i used to be huge into IL2 and with my new rig i have yet to install it. Which is the last Cat driver which supports IL2?????

OK I just got my system up and running and Black Shark is not using both cores. I have a 50% cpu load with the 1.01c patch. I can fly online so i have patched correctly. Have they removed the affinity trick which was supposed to be in 1.01A.. AM I missing something???

Got my E8500 system finally running 3.16Ghz no thanks to ATI Cat 9.12 :(

:music_whistling: Love the Ki-84 :) lol on closer inspection its a Ki-44 :(

Not that it is a big deal at the moment but I read that HP only supports 16GB RAM where as Pro and Ultimate are able to 192GB ???? I will eventually buy Win 7 but need new vid card, HDD/SSD and PSU before i give Bill my $$$$$$

Alright!!!!! I built my system last night and it wouldnt run win 7 64RC Man was i pissed after a whole evening of painstaking building. I woke up this morning still pissed. (I want to play BS!!!!!!) Finally got it workin in XP but RAM wouldnt run at 1066 Updated to latest bios and ram runs at 1066 :) Turned of floppy controller in bios and WIN 7 64 RC works :) (thank you RGONe at DFI forums) I tried AHCI in bios and WIN7 wont run :( Cant have it all :) Hard disk might be no good (WD800AAJS SATA II) for AHCI Just installed Saitek driver and controller is all good to go :) I never had to use a profile in XP so i am hoping it is the same for Win 7 Wish me luck my BS install is about to start :)

Yeah Man!!! Looking forward to getting started sometime later this week. Thanks for that link and the temps info. Will certainly take it easier this time around and just go for a stock voltage oc. I overclocked my 3700+ and used Prime 95 for 24hours on full blend for stability(i tried orthos as well but prefer Prime) Also use Coretemp for my temp monitoring. I wanted a xigmatek dark knight but it would not fit the dfi mobo in a east west config so I had to dish out a bit more $$ for a Noctua FrostyTech is a great site for cooler comparisons if you didnt already know about it. Plus they are so helpful with cooling questions. While I enjoyed overclocking my athlon 64 and certainly agree with you on the addiction factor I am hoping that I dont need to OC the E8500 to run DCS at good frames at 1280 x 1024. Summer is here in Sydney and we had a 40C temp today. My room is 35C :) so that Noctua will be working hard lol

Wow FC 2.0 I'm goin the EtherealN way (BANG for BUCK) I just bought an E8500 with P45 mobo and 4Gb ddr2 ram just waiting on the aftermarket cooler that EtherealN mentioned earlier and a new case. I had been waiting a very long time (6months) for the socket 1156 release to build new rig (for DCS). Athlon 3700+ :( While it was tempting the voice of reason won out and told me to go bang for buck. The performance didnt justify the extra 20% in cost for a 1156 platform and even though the power consumption is great that wasnt enuff. Add the issues with the sockets (foxconn and i have read a lotes has also failed) and that pretty much dictated that i go with the proven lga775. Socket 1366 was also tempting but i dont want to kill the planet just for gaming. Hopefully i7 930 is 32nm and then 1366 becomes real attractive especially for a certain ww2 flight sim slated for release late 2010 (Oleg????) However my res is 1280 x 1024 so I can go a bit easy

How far in the past???? I am running Antec TrueBlue II 480W purchased in 05. I recently checked my rails with a multimeter because i was overclocking my 3700+ and they were bang on target after 4 + years of heavy use in room that goes from 15C to 30C. I couldnt be more impressed with the quality of this PSU (touching wood)

For those of us holding out on a new PC build here is something to put the hurt in. http://www.overclock3d.net/news.php?/cpu_mainboard/intel_to_release_core_i7_930_replacing_the_920/1 If it comes in at the same price point as the current 920 I say screw socket 1156 :P

Dude I am loving you posting about i5 etc Am in the same position as I am running S939 :( Looking at the intial prices CPU i7 860 = $390 AUD i5 750 = $280 MOBO Asus P55 EVO = $330 Just waiting for the first round of mobo reviews to determine if I leave DFI and go Asus

If that is the case then I should stick with my original plan for a E8500. Thanks for the information

Hi guys I was wondering if a Q9400 would be better than an E8500 for Black Shark???? With the 1.01 patch supporting multicores does Black Shark benefit from 4 cores Both are around the same price and I do intend on overclocking. Max resolution is 1280 x 1024
-
Am I the only guy with a X52 not needing to use a profile for Black Shark. I am using XP though
-
I agree E8600 is $350 vs $250 for E8500

I am planning on running Win7 in 64 bit so yeah looks like 4GB for sure. Using the least amount of money (hence DDR2, C2D E8500) maybe I can plump for E8600 $350AUD :( when prices drop a bit I will be scavenging parts from current rig so will only need CPU,RAM and MOBO CPU: E8500 $250AUD RAM: Ballistix Tracer 4GB PC2-6400 $120AUD (incl shipping from US) Corsair 4GB PC2-8500 $150 MOBO: DFI x48 T2RSB PLUS $200 DFI x48 T2RSB Plus is DDR2 board. Current Rig is :( http://www.amdgeeks.net/overclock/856 athlon 64 3700+ @2.8GHZ DFI Expert 2GB Ballistix DDR 466 9800GT 480W PSU

Yes that was my main concern if the game uses more than 2GB with textures etc... Thanks you all for your replies. 4GB it is then. Now I have a ram selection dilemma lol For overclocking is it easier with 2 sticks vs 4 sticks for a core 2 duo X48 system Was going to post this in the relevant DFI mobo forum but thought no harm in askin here. I have a preference for Crucial but they have no 4GB PC28500 kit only 2GB PC28500 Crucial Ballistix 4GB PC26400 4-4-4-12 or 2 x (2GB PC28500 5-5-5-15) Otherwise its Corsair 4GB PC28500 5-5-5-15

Hope this might help because I am looking at making a gaming rig as well. I am looking at a very small budget but here is a starting point for you. As I live in Australia these components will set me back approx $900AUD so depending on where you are I am sure you can squeeze a whole rig in there somehow Intel E8400 or E8500 for cpu DFI X48 or P45 motherboard 4GB or 2GB DDR2 RAM (waiting for an answer on how much is enough for Black Shark) Nvidia GTS 250, GTX 216 or ATI 4850, 4870 WD 150 GB velociraptor HDD I just looked up these components on NewEGG and they will set you back $710 US (4GB RAM) so you still have $300 for case PSU etc...

Hi Guys I am going to build a gaming system for Black Shark Need to know if the game benefits from 4GB RAM or is 2GB RAM more than enough. I am only runnning 1280 x 1024 4AA 16AF but intend on maxing all details running Windows 7 with the new system. Many thanks in advance
