  1. I wonder... since the concept for the F-35 is a multi-national, cost effective next generation fighter. Similar to the F-16 MLU, or other current generation international fighters, much of the "classified" aspects may indeed be unclassified. I have not researched into what is available on the aircraft, but from some quick google searches, it looks like there may be some detail out there already. Additionally, with production rollout slated to begin this year, perhaps more specifics will become available over the coming years.... Though likely the chemistry of the stealth paint coating will remain classified for a while. : )
  2. How about a VSTOL like F-35 if we look near future, or Harrier if we look at existing. Though overall, the F-16 would be my choice now, given its "today's world" multi-role, country, general purpose, plus I know it fairly well from Falcon4/5.
  3. Is it possible to release the Dogs of War campaign doc in PDF format?
  4. Was wondering if there is a "static" aspect to radio communications in these missions? Every time I fly one, I hear random "radio static" during communications. For example, as I am flying along and a wingman pulls into position and calls it out, sometimes there is a moment of radio static. I have not heard this before, but found it interesting. Is this intended or perhaps some flaw in my installation?
  5. My system specs are as follows: Nvidia GTX 295: Driver: 191.07 nHancer AF: 16x AA: 4x(Enhance), Gamma, TranspSS VSync: On, TripleBuffer+ SLI: AFR[0x00480041] Perf: HiQual NegLOD: Clamp In game settings: All maxed except water. Mirrors are off. Machine Specs: i7 950, 12 gb ram, Win Vista 64
  6. I was flying the Dragon Raid on the airfield mission yesterday and noticed at the FARP extreme FPS loss when looking at other Blacksharks departing from the pad. Whether in the pit or external view, anytime I looked with TrackIR towards the departing choppers, the FPS would go from about 45+ to 13. When I would look away from the choppers, it would jump back to 45+. Also in my 4 ship, when external looking back at the formation, the FPS would fall extremely but when looking away, it would bounce back up. Seems that looking at multiple spinning rotors kills the FPS. Is this a known issue, or is there some way to correct it? 7. When entering the pit after hitting Pause/Break, the BS is in one of two states: 1) Running and ready for liftoff; 2) Cold and requires manual start. A unique difference that I cannot figure out is when I come into the pit with the BS running, the PVI has the waypoints entered for the mission and I can use that info to see distance to next wp (click lower right button on PVI panel). However, when I do manual startup, I can never get the PVI to have those waypoints in place. I have searched the threads and have seen some related discussion, but nothing specific to this point given running BS vs cold BS. Anyone have a suggestion how I can get the PVI to look like it does when coming into a running and ready to fly BS? thx!
  8. Well, I was able to get around the lockup by starting with f2 view and launching off the tarp from that view. Then I was able to to back to pit view and fly normally. Worked like a charm! No issues since that little lockup after starting the Zugdidi def mission.
  9. Ok, got it downloaded and installed. Only file that appeared changed between 101.3 and 101.4 is 07Evak, as it has a date stamp of 11/01. However, when attempting to run the campaign and the Zugdidi Defense mission, I experience the immediate lockup after hitting pause/break to enter mission as reported earlier.
  10. Yea, I cannot get the updated 101.4 zip. Not sure about the host, as it is all in Russian, though I could kind of figure it out, though when I attempt to "save as" on the zip, it is only the web page which is downloaded and not the actual archive containing the campaign files. Perhaps rapidshare or one of the other file hosts could be used?
  11. I have been running 101.3 English version and am experience the lock up problem mentioned in previous posts. Has the english version been updated to fix the missions which are having the lockup? thx!
  12. Also this may seem like a dumb suggestion, but be sure to minimize all "background" processes which are unnecessary by closing them and eating up system resources before you even launch BS. I have a shortcut created to Windows Services so I can see what is running and shut them down to free up computer resources, especially if you use the computer for something other than gaming. I run ColdFusion and DB services on mine as well, but I have these services set to manual and only launch them when I am working on web stuff. Though, if you do not set them, often these types of processes start automatically on bootup. All in all, be sure your machine is background resource "clean" before running BS and this may help.
  13. I wonder how that campaign contest is coming? Perhaps we will see some sweet campaigns come out of that effort.
  14. For most missions, the start is usually on the ground. Was wondering if the door could be open by default when first entering the pit. This will serve two purposes. 1) get around the bug where you always need to f2 then f1 to correct the interior sound; 2) Give more of a sense of "I just climbed into the pit" and have to shut the door. thoughts?
  15. Yea, I got it to work by adding a shortcut to DCSMax and loading it prior to running the sim. Also had to ensure all the advanced settings were geared towards only loading the player in the systray. Though, I wonder why it worked no problem before, and only recently it had this problem. The vlc plugin says its version .0.9.9, perhaps there was an "auto" update to the player from what was packaged in the original mod? Though, even when I tried to reinstall the original mod, I still run into the same problem. Oh well, at least it now works, I simply have to hit the VLC player icon on DCSMax to preload it into the systray as Cionara mentioned.
  16. Yea, oddly I just began having this problem. I have made no changes except adding the attached Export.lua file which correctly allows radio for only FM modulation. Even that update worked earlier today. Only tonight, I get the jump to desktop for some odd reason...?
  17. Hello all, Been playing DCS for a little while and am fairly familiar with the systems. Was thinking about taking the next step and looking for online servers hosting DCS multiplayer campaigns/missions. Any suggestions?
  18. Yea, I got it to work by following the instructions presented. As for adding your own radio stations, I found that if you right click the "Tune In" button on Shoutcast (for example) web site for the station you want, and copy link location, you can use this to set the station as noted in the instructions (copy and paste any given entry in the noted file to create a new one). Note, the radio dial frequencies are in quarter increments, so you will have to set up each station at these intervals. Also, you will need to set the radio to AM frequency and specific station frequency when flying.
  19. Awesome!! Finally, I can now listen to 3WK online indie radio on those long flights!
  20. I know this one is left over from v100, but the external engine sound, while first spawning in the cockpit remains. Though, in 101, I believe now that the loud external sound returns, especially when a wingman enters formation (I hear him very loudly). I usually have to F2 "out," then F1 "in" when he enters formation to return normal "internal" engine sounds.
  21. I am relatively new to BS, and have moved off training and into the first Deployment campaign. The first mission has you follow a tour guide across country which is quite nice hearing him explain tidbits and facts about the scenery along the flight. One thing I noticed on this journey, and especially in Mission Two where you provide scout support for a convoy in a mountain pass, are the angled mountain/landscape textures. It seems that the terrain is very "flat" with angular transitions between slope. For rock sheer cliff faces that is likely ok, but for tree lined mountainous terrain, I wonder if its possible to "bumpify" the terrain or provide some other solution to make it less flat/angular. any thoughts?
  22. I have same card, i7 950, and 12gb ram running vista 64 and have great FPS. I have water at moderate, and mirrors off. Everything else is maxed. I have not experienced a large battle enviro yet which may kill FPS, as I am currently on mission two in the first campaign. However, so far, the sim runs great!
  23. Hello all, I am new to DCS BS and am going though training at the moment. As part of "training" I would also like to ensure I am getting the best fps for my rig, so the first step is to display FPS onscreen while in the pit. Next will then be to "train" my rig for the best experience. Question: How do I display the FPS onscreen? thx!
