  1. Regarding night vision, one thing that has always eluded me is how to get all cockpit lighting to be blue for Night Vision? When I start a night mission in a warm seat (aka heli is already running and ready to fly), all the cockpit instrumentation is blue. However, whenever I start cold, I have never been able to figure out how to get the blue instrumentation lighting. I tried flipping the NVG Lighting switch, adjusted the brightness controls, etc... but have never been able to get it to work. Anyone have the answer?
  2. Well in my best "legalese" I guess the answer is... "Pony up the $4 bucks!" :) Plus the 12 cents addition for international exchange.
  3. I believe "paid" campaign development is warranted if the quality, testing, and immersion levels meet or exceed that found either in the mod community or the base install. This effort (VG) appears to be quite robust, and with a storyline which can encompass 200+ missions for campaign completion and chapter release deployment, then yea it makes sense. Plus, the $4.00 price tag is quite small given the LOE for concept, creation, and testing. Though, there is a line between what is free and what is for sale and we have seen issues/debate with other sims. I am not sure of the motivations for creating modded content. I guess that is a question for the modders, but I assume it can range from wanting a functionality in-game that is missing (I always thought about trying to figure out how to get dynamic weather in FF) for the modder themselves, to resume material for a possible job offer in the computer gaming industry. All in all, when content cost money, it should have the quality, time, and resource allocation behind it which exceeds that found in standard community modded content. Of course even this idea is debatable, but I guess for me, if I see something that looks like it is well thought out, designed, tested, and implemented, then I will be willing to throw some cash at it. Another priced implementation I have seen out there was for a training program tied to DCS Blackshark. The program looked very detailed and structured, though the first program coursework is free. Not sure what it is called, but someone out there probably knows what I am referring to.
  4. Progression continues...through mission 11. Interesting, after around mission 9 or perhaps 10, I noticed that only F1 (cockpit only) view is available...no external or other views function. No complaints here, but is this intentional or something with my system? I recently upgraded my vid driver and this seemed to occur following that update, unless its coincidence where an authored point in the campaign is set where F1 only view is enforced to enhance realism?!
  5. Progressing though the campaign, and now at mission 8. Great job on the detail and the immersion factor! I really enjoy the "day to day" aspect as well which is not all about going out and blowing stuff up! Running with a pilot who can "die" too which is cool! Makes it more interesting to ensure I "live" though the entire campaign, hopefully?! Some overall notes regarding the campaign: Is it possible to allow "continuation" of the campaign if a mission score remains below 60%? Perhaps a toggle or some selection choice of how the pilot wishes to run the campaign. I found this in mission 7 where I only achieved 50% upon return to base, and though I spent a long time flying the waypoints, I must have missed a trigger or two which caused the low score. It would have been nice if only my total campaign score was affected and I could have proceeded to mission 8, but rather I had to refly 7 again. All in all, it would be cool to allow mission progression regardless of score. Of course the campaign total score would be affected, and perhaps if the campaign score falls below a certain point, a Campaign End is noted for poor performance or something (pilot loses his/her wings). This would support a "realistic" approach as well since even if a pilot has a poor performance on one mission, "tomorrow's another day," not Groundhog Day (bad joke if you are familiar with the movie:)). Also, any preliminary reports on schedule for Part 2?
  6. Yes, simply add "1" as the first number and you will be set. I had the same issue.
  7. I also learned a little trick for not failing a mission if it was started and the wife needs help with something and I have to end my flying time mid-mission. I simply alt-tab to lower the "simulator.exe" and then bring up the task manager and force quit the simulator.exe. This discards the mission and allows you to restart the mission later as if you never started it. I have ran into this issue in the past, where I am mid mission, and only 30% complete, when the wife calls and I have to run. Rather than clicking Escape key and "failing" the mission, the "wife out" method works nice! Unless... is there a way to "save" mission progress and come back to it at a later time??
  8. Through mission Two of the campaign. Very nice detail and the voice chatter is great, though sometimes its a little hard to understand what is being said. Though, perhaps as I get used to it, it will become clearer. The subtitle summaries are nice though! So far 90% campaign success, not sure why I could only achieve 79% on mission Two, as I did everything required (fly all waypoints maintaining position with lead); however, I may have missed something on final landing. Oh well, great campaign so far! Also, is there a way to "zoom" into the map on the debrief? I saw the post and experienced for myself the issue with using the mission planner (in this campaign mission planner does not seem to tell any detail anyway). If there is a key combo to see a larger version of the mission debrief map, that would be killer.
  9. Well, tried to order but when I enter my mobile phone number for the sms message, I never receive it. I am in the USA. EDIT: Had to add a "1" in front of the cell phone number for USA numbers to get the SMS. Good to go now! Thx for the campaign, just created a new "vulnerable" pilot to take the the Vergeev G skies!
  10. I got the same error. To resolve, I went into the campaign Editor and re-selected the mission file "...Anti-Tank...)for the relative slot noted in the campaign series (slot 6). I then removed the "defective" mission entry, and saved the campaign. This appears to have worked.
  11. Great news! Will have a clean "vulnerable" pilot ready to fly into this upcoming campaign! :)
  12. Any updates on this upcoming campaign release?
  13. Using a vulnerable profile, I made it though 8 missions (9 hrs 8 min flight time) and finally died on Mission 9, Near Gundelen in Deployment. Took a few gun hits from a hidden target while covering the friendly attack force; and on a low defensive maneuver out of harms way, I ended up hitting a power line! Panicked in my seat as the Shark lost its rotors and fell like a rock less than 100 ft from the ground, and did not hit the "eject" in time! Damn! Oh well, definitely fun flying with a "vulnerable" profile! Also nice that BS maintains the dead profile and though no longer usable, I can compare stats against the new profile I now created. 43 minutes into the new one, so have some time to go.
  14. With the A-10C coming next, will DCS sit under a single core engine install? Specifically, will Ka-50 and A-10C share the same core and simply be some sort of directory module separation running on the same "updated" engine? I ask since with both FC2 and DCS BS installed on my rig, I am finding that most updates/mods "cross pollinate" for both core engines (especially with latest BS 1.0.2 update). Thus, with the same mod, I can install in DCS as well as FC2; though, I have to install them separately. As the DCS Series grows, I am wondering if we will see a single, regularly updated core, with the module packs "plugging into the core" or will we have the need to install separate cores with each DCS module, similar to how FC2 and DCS BS play on on the box now? If I want to install a "cloud fix" mod, will it need to be installed repetitively within each install or once in a shared core?
  15. I read today that there is a major push for civilian UAV tasks to likely be implemented in the US pending FAA authorization. This will happen and question is for simulation/onscreen desk flyers, could you actually find a paying job flying drones? Moral, political, etc...issues aside, perhaps it would be simply cool to fly a civilian drone as a "day job," and/or start a consulting company specializing in UAV training/outsourcing. Hmmmm....
  16. I call it a quick study in Russian! At least now if some yells "SAM Launch" or "Missile Away" in Russian, I will understand what they are saying. Works great on the Ukrainian girls I meet out on the beach sunbathing in their thongs! :)
  17. Its linked in the first post of this thread under "Install Instructions" item 1. Note the zip ENBDCSBS.zip contains two files. You only need to enbseries.ini file from this archive if you used the modman install located in post #10 of this thread.
  18. Quick question along the lines in this thread. What cockpit control turns on the blue NVG lighting? I see the switch down in the lower right side of the right side console next to the regular cockpit lighting switch, but when I flip the NVG lighting switch, nothing seems to happen?
  19. Note, I got it to work by modifying the modman pack to correct the file placement for the d3d9.dll file. Basically the path should be updated from bin\stable\ to bin\x86\stable. This will get it to install correctly via ModMan. As for the wild bloom, I did also see that if you use the enbseries.ini file included in the ModMan pack, the bloom is too intense. Though if you replace it with the one packaged separately in this thread (there is a zip containing only the d3d9.dll and enbseries.ini files separately), it will work much better. All in all, I got the HDR mod working and it looks great!
  20. Anyone know if this mod continues to function in BS 1.0.2?
  21. Now with BS 1.02 and MM 7.3, what are the "must have" mods for BS, and have some now been "retired" given the latest 1.02 mega patch?
  22. Will release of 1.02 patch delay this project? I was looking forward to this coming out to attempt a run though the campaign with Invulnerability off. Hope it remains on schedule with minimal change to support 1.02
  23. yes, a change log would be great. Also, noticed that when I fire off a vikhr there is no sound heard from within the cockpit. Is this normal with the new patch?
  24. Are there details of the changes specific to the sim itself?
  25. I was wondering if any community designed missions/campaigns have been created for FC2? I have worked though the options which ship stock with FC2, but was wondering if there are any out there created by users at the caliber of some of those found for DCS and/or IL2. Perhaps a sticky could be added to track FC2 new missions/campaigns which blossom from the user community.:)
