Seems I do not have true 6DOF in the pit. When I move from side to side, I do not see depth on the fwd console interface. Also, the text on the control displays seems hard to read. I have 1024 set for cockpit res. but the control labels are hard to see.

here is the link: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=81073 Also, I do not think 6DOF is working, unless there is a specific BS2 option required for TrackIR 6DOF?

try the "alt-tab" trick!
-
Alt-Tab action immediately after entering game, boosts FPS by nearly 50%! Additionally the HDR is correctly rendered following the Alt-Tab. I saw mention in a separate BS2 thread regarding the Alt-Tab action, but I thought I would post as a new thread simply because it has such a dramatic improvement in FPS, as well as correctly enabling HDR. Note, I was going from 10 to 18 FPS before alt-tab to 28 to 30+ following (in pit with shaval and map on), along with correct rendering of HDR. Outside pit, 45 to 50+ FPS. Other settings set based on other thread suggestions, but this Alt-Tab trick gave me the greatest FPS boost. Not sure if this is a bug that can be fixed, but at least for now, every flight will start with Alt-Tab! Nice work ED! Back in the Black Shark saddle again!

The switch grab in BMS is very slight so it will not impede a button next to the one that was grabbed. For example moving the cursor over either the vertical or horizontal OSB buttons on an MFD employs the very slight grab with the pass over each hot spot. It is very slight, but enough to hold to that spot if that was your intended button. They have it implemented perfectly in BMS. A vid track may show it, but it is probably best in experiencing it. Definitely a nice way to add more user control to accessing the pit hot spots when panning around and working within the pit.

I recently installed the new BMS Falcon and was quite impressed with a feature they implemented which seems to be a "must have" for clickable 3D pits. That feature being the slight mouse cursor "grab" when selecting a switch or dial in the cockpit. Often with panning TrackIR it can be difficult to flip a switch, push a button, or rotate a dial as the cursor does not remain on the item and free floats. If a slight "grab" could be implemented basically just like the BMS Falcon implementation, that would be a huge benefit for 3D mouse cursor pit switchology control!

Sweet, 512 looks better! thx!
-
Yes, correct, TGP not TAD! :) OK, will try 512 to see if that works.
-
Yes, excellent work on the new patch! I definitely notice a smoother performance and things just look better. Though, one area where I now see something amiss is the TAD display. Basically, when panning inside the TAD, the image appears to go gray/flicker. I notice this for all object seen in the TAD including trees, buildings, targets, etc... I have tried BHOT/WHOT views as well and see the same flickering/object loss in the view. Zoom seems to bring objects back, but then they get lost again unless I change zoom. Its kind of a random effect, that I can deal with, but have to constantly adjust the TAD display by using zoom and pan to maintain a correct picture. I am running a GTX 295 and my in game settings are as follows: Textures: high Scenes: high Civ Traffic: low Water: med Vis Range: high Heat Blur: off Shadows: Med Res: 1900/1200 Asp: 16:10 Monitor: 1 Screen Res Cockpit: 1024 every frame MSAA: 8x HDR: Normal Vsnych: on Full Screen: on Cockpit Shadows: on TSSAA: on Mirrors:off Clutter/Bushes: 60m Trees: 7655m Will keep playing around with settings, but if someone has seen this in the TAD, please reply with workable settings, or perhaps move this into the Tech Discussion section. thx! Wind PS: also like the new loading photo and version number marker!

hmmm, still having problems getting the EAC switch to remain on. Basically, I have done everything as noted 1) alignment finished, set to NAV 2) CADC, IFFCC, SAS on 3) EGI button pushed (lit) 4) All other stuff complete (data card loaded, BIT test completed, all avionics powered, etc...) Still, when I flip the EAC switch, it returns automatically to off. I have run though the Ground Handling Training mission numerous times and have everything else passed, but this one item remains my failure. Note, I can "hold" the switch on and pass, but as soon as I release the switch, I fail. Not sure what else needs to be done??

Could "Chocks in" be tied to the Ground Crew "Ground Power" request? I believe someone mentioned that in a different thread, but may work since there will be no need for voice additions. "Simply" a chocks feature tied to the Ground Power radio command.

DCS: Black Shark User Screenshots Dedicated Thread
WindWpn replied to Teknetinium's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Made it home with a missing tail. Was wondering why the Shark felt like the auto assists were offline. Rather it was the missing tail! Not too bad though bringing it back to base. Though I could use a virtual cold one after that trip home. -
As an avid Black Shark flyer and study sim aficionado, I was taken back to 1985 when my parents came to visit and dropped off some old computer games I had when I was a kid. Anyone remember "Super Huey UH-IX - Helicopter Flight Simulator??" Wow, what a find! The graphics on the back of the jacket brings smiles and amazing sense of the evolution of where we have come from in flight simulation! I did a google search to find the screenies on the jacket, but could not find them. I may just have to photograph a few and post. :)

As others pointed out, I agree that there are similarities with any/all aircraft which use a turbine jet engine. The APU is basically standard, and I never really knew what it was prior to DCS BS. An airline pilot buddy of mine noted the use of the APU in the sim and was familiar with it, and now I am as well, though I do not fly commercial jets for a living. Falcon experience helped with graduation to the high fidelity of the A-10C along with experience from the BS. All in all, the start up learning curve was quick for me in the A-10C, and though I do not have everything mastered, I have solid understanding of most all systems and function with only a relatively small amount of time in the sim. My experience "eyes closed" cold startup of the BS also helped with the switchology understanding for similarly starting the A-10c. As the Beta is refined/improved and the sim is optimized for FPS, it will be quite a joy to fly/fight! Looking forward to the next Beta release and another step closer to production release!

Sweet thx! Got it mapped and ready to go for the next flight.

Basically, there is one function I did not see listed in the configurable keyboard options ingame. Basically "Autopilot." Is it simply the letter "A" on the keyboard? I ask since when I attempt to set the autopilot I always have to look down to click the button behind the throttle. If I can simply click a keyboard key, it would make it easier to set it while holding level flight/bearing for that one second it takes to set it. thx!

I mentioned it to my wife as an xmas gift and she said "NO WAY!" I still sent her the link though.

I have a buddy...! Works for FedEx and a few of his bros at the airline come visit (we live at the beach!) Next time the ex-A-10 guy is here I will see if I can get him to come over to try it! There was an ex-F-14 pilot here a few weeks ago, but I missed him. Additionally, we had a cookout at my place about a month ago, and I had an Apache ex-pilot here and I did not even know it! If I did, I would have definitely had him try the Blackshark!

This appears to be a legit bug and not related to your graphics settings. Try some other flight or perhaps a new campaign. If you are interested in more successful control of Nvidia graphics, try NvidiaInspector, especially while utilizing the latest Nvidia drivers. Also be sure to follow this thread: http://www.freefalcon.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18343

Yea, I guess if you are flying the Nevada terrain, you may see some of these Janet flights airborne as part of civil traffic in the skies above the desert? Perhaps the buses too if you are down low along the road to Dreamland. All in all, yet Vegas as well as Area 51 would have to be part of the Nevada terrain! :)

VERGEEV Group campaign RELEASED!
WindWpn replied to FGSchtuzer's topic in User Created Missions General
Finished! I have completed the VG campaign (Chapter 1)! I flew the campaign with invulnerability off to ensure I keep my wits out there! Very well done campaign with missions that were quite realistic and true to action which may be experienced. I had two ejections but survived though I had to refly a few missions to earn the points to progress. Finished with a score of 78 though, which is I guess, acceptable. Looking forward to the next 20 missions for Billy VG. -
Very cool, though do you have perfect vision including no color blindness? This was the issue I ran into when I was planning to pursue a military pilot career back in the late 80s when I graduated from HS. Unfortunately, for me I had everything else going except the eyes. I always wonder if today a young guy has vision issues, and with the permanent correction options available, is there hope to earn you wings regardless of bad eyes in HS? Though for color blindness you may still be out of luck unless you can "learn" early to overcome the blindness to pass any related tests.
-
Well, another option could be similar to Falcon. Simply have a variable which dictates whether you are rescued or MIA at the mission debrief. Perhaps a ratio is used based upon location of ejection relative to the home airbase and/or whether you were able to make a SAR request prior to bailout. Your RS vs MIA could then also tie into any campaign progress/logbook record.

Cool, I actually live in Dare County, though did not know we had a A-10 firing range?! However, we do have the Dare County bombing range which is likely the place where this takes place. Often my house shakes like a minor earthquake, and I attribute it to either a shock wave from the bombing range, or supersonic jets flying offshore. Though, we never hear any sound, only the shake of the house. However, I remember a fond A-10 experience I personally had while 4-wheeling on the Kill Devil Hills sand dunes many years ago when it was "permitted." Basically, a buddy and I were in his Jeep Cherokee atop a large steep sand dune ready to take the plunge... While sitting there, two A-10s in formation flew overhead and then circled us to watch my buddy make the drop. We did it with no problems, but it was quite cool to see the A-10s circle right above us at low altitude watching us "go for it!" Pretty cool!

Yep, finally got it using Dragons Training Pack and night free flying mission (he has the procedure outlined in the brief). As soon as entering the cold black pit. 1) Hit R-Ctrl R-Shft E twice (turn on battery) 2) Hit L-Ctrl K (turn on blue (NVG) lighting) Wala, blue lighting to continue startup procedures! Been flying the BS for a long time, and finally now I know how to enable the blue light...! :)
