[RESOLVED] Options>Special "lost" in 1.2.15?
lennycutler replied to Azrayen's topic in General Problems
This happened to me...try doing a repair on the newly installed Open Beta....it fixed the problem for me. -
Try running a repair on the Beta....it solved the problem for me.
-
It is puzzling,...since I also had no problem running the prior version 1.2.14..(the non beta version). Perhaps someone from ED will explain if this file from Microsoft is newly required?

In my case the reinstalled ms 32 bit package solved it along with a repair of the beta...to..get mig 21 working
-
I downloaded and installed the runtime packages from Microsoft for both 64 and 32 bit. I only got it back working after the re-install of the 32 bit runtime version. I ran the Beta..but Mig -21 was not working right...no cockpit etc. Did a repair...now it seems to be working. No clue why this happened...but I now realize that instead of deactivating the mig-21...I had hit the remove module button....don't know why that should have messed up the Beta. Any thanks for the help...and if others run into this....a re-install of the Microsoft Runtimes can be the fix.

Beta Won't Work see attached dcs.txt me.txt

I downloaded the update..installed...tried to follow the Mig-21 procedure....removed module...exit....restart....but I got this message. "can't find MSVCP110.dll" I did a repair...no help. I uninstalled the beta....re-installed the beta...no help. I copied a backup version of the beta...updated it..ran it...same error message. My regular install of DCS works fine. I suspect this message is related to Starforce implementation of the Mig-21. In anycase...any ideas on what I need to do to get the Beta working?

SCRIPT EFFECTIVENESS Thanks for this lua file. I have been experimenting with it...I have no lua skills, but after testing with Russian SAM systems....I note that the behavior of turning off Radar and movement when being attacked by AGM88s...only occurs with: SA-8,SA-10,SA-11. Not sure at all why I don't get indications of RADAR on, /off condtions with the others I tested. In addition to the above I tested. SA-3,SA-6,SA-13, SA-19. SA-15 successfully defends against AGMs of all types, but no radar turn off or movement noticed. Again, thanks for your script.

When the exterior view reflects that the forward portion of the cockpit glass is shot out....the internal view still shows the glass in place. I don't know if this has been reported before.

Chaff Effectiveness Against RS-2US I have attached a compressed zip TACVIEW file reflecting a KC135 being partially successful in evading 3 of 4 missiles with Chaff. I would agree, that this is an issue that needs to be addressed by DCS. Tacview-20150131-101814-DCS.txt.zip

I set up a couple of missions using the Mig-21Bis vs a B-52. In one mission the Mig approaches the target directly ahead, facing the B-52's nose at close to the same altitude. In the other mission the approach is from the B-52 3-6 O'Clock position. The Mig carried only RS-2US.... In both cases, once the B-52 starts dispensing Chaff....it has the effect of causing most of the RS-2US missiles to miss. I thought this missile is a beam rider....and as such would follow the Radar lock directly... Is it correct that Chaff can impact the accuracy of this missile while the target is locked on the Mig-21Bis Radar?

[RESOLVED] Engine Shutdown and Flame Out
lennycutler replied to lennycutler's topic in General Problems
Thanks for the input...I will focus in on trying to eliminate as much as I can the zero g situation. -
First let me say that I am very pleased with this module...it is a challange, but also a pleasure to learn this bird. I am trying to understand why the engine shutsdown or flames out so often. I put it into After Burner, climb to 25,000 ft, then dive, then level off and climb...and the engine shutsdown or flames out. No inverted flight here. I apply the Emergency Restart and I think I have that mastered. I know that the manual cautions about exceeding 95% RPM...but of course you exceed that with After Burner. So....is this a documented bug, that shutdown occurs when it shouldn't...or is the manual not explicit eneough about how to avoid flame out, shut down.... I don't think a dive from altitude should cause this/ See my attached track. Flame out example and restart.trk

Dora AI Bombing Behavior (Potential Bug)
lennycutler replied to lennycutler's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
See Mission File Here is the mission file referenced above Engage Sherman Tanks.miz -
I created a simple bombing mission with the Dora, - my Wingman and I are to bomb a few Sherman Tanks. Although I task them to attack armor and they agree....and even though the engage enemy group is correctly set in the mission....the AI Dora consistently drop their bombs on the road where the tanks first appear, and not at their current position. I thought that this odd behavior may be related to the Dora module, so I ran the same mission using the BF 109K4. The BF109K4 AI correctly dropped their bombs close to the moving Sherman tanks. So, I have to conclude the issue lays with the AI Doras. I have attached the mission file, and would appreciate it if someone else can confirm that this may indeed be an AI bug, with the Dora....? Note: The Sherman Tank is available from the User File section.

I agree, no muzzle flash on the right cannon, not sure if it is firing?
-
Yes, using Previous or Next page will turn off Switch A101 on the right panel...and the gunsight and other electrical lights go out.

Su-27 Open-Beta chit-chat and first impressions!

Stick to Trimmer Control Mode is New to me....I have mapped it, but what is its intended purpose? -
Take Off Instability I have figured out the cause of take off instability. I had set the weather for dynamic, which produced a strong 9 m/s wind. I could see the smoke stacks with the smoke column at a 90 degree angle. So....I learned something.....some planes can handle the wind on takeoff better than others...and watch the smoke stacks.... I wonder if any of the airfields have wind socks?

senility take off issue It is odd..When I tried a take off on my beta install...everything was fine. On my standard install..With no mods on ...still..not like the beta install. I tried a repair But that didn't solve it
