Multi-monitor set-up guide & help (unofficial)
fzfq3m replied to MadTommy's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
Hi there... from 10FPS to 40FPS... sweet... Now load this mission, cry and then start planning what you will buy for next PC upgrading :P http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=66723 My poor PC can't even get to the briefing of the mission  but that could be because, AFAIK, the mission was made using a beta version of A-10C -

When you buy two Delta ~200CFM@8000RPM (GFB0912DHW or GFB0912DHU ) Dual Fan and attach them to each side of your chair... then you use a microcontroller with USB interface and PWM channels to sync the fans rpm with the DCS A-10C Engines rpm.... You can tell to your wifie that the fans are needed to help air conditioning recirculation :-p -
Multi-monitor set-up guide & help (unofficial)
fzfq3m replied to MadTommy's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
Well, as I say: It's not my way... I took it from I thread I fond here in the forums but I'm unable to find it again... I think I need to try harder :D In my case I'm not using TH2GO but SoftTH instead, so my windows sees four monitors instead of two (as if I where using TH2GO too)... with 4 monitor the more logical way to arrange them is as you are suggesting 3 at top expanding the desktop horizontally and the fourth monitor centered at bottom expanding the desktop vertically... that way you can switch to any monitor just moving the mouse beyond the corresponding edge of the center monitor... the DCS engine (TFCSE) can handle it this way it but the primary monitor must be the one at 0,0 coordinates and we need to create a big rendering area that encompass our monitors... but then there will be areas that will not be used: XXX _X_ X = This area is rendered in our monitors _ = This area is not rendered by VGA, but apparently the DCS engine (TFCSE) works based on the hole resolution... so the less _ you have the less the engine will have to work. I think this was called Phantom Monitor Fix but I don't know if this is still needed for DCS A-10C By version 1.1.0.8 I wasn't meaning VGA driver version but DCS A-10C version although having th lattest VGA driver is always recommended... Multi-monitor set-up guide & help (unofficial)
fzfq3m replied to MadTommy's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
I can't say I have same setup as you but mine WAS quite similar: 2 x 1280x1024 17" and 1 x 1920x1080 32" for left, right and center cameras respectively 1 x 1280x720 17" for MFCDs You can see my pc specs on my signature You have your fourth monitor configured to extend the desktop vertically!!! I can't not find the post where I learned this but I will try to explain what I learned your Initial config was 3048x1024 = 3121152 pixels your Actual Config is 3048x1924 = 5864352 pixels so 5864352 - 3121152 = 2743200 pixels.... that means your final resolution has 2731008 pixels than before... What can you do? probably this won't help much but may be you can gain some fps 1.- set your 4 monitor to extend the desktop horizontally to the right of your main monitor, in that way your final resolution will be 4488x1024.. let's compare your Initial config was 3048x1024 = 3121152 pixels your Actual Config is 3048x1924 = 5864352 pixels Proposed config 4488x1024 = 4595712 pixels as you can see the proposed resolution has only 1474560 more pixels than your initial resolution, but 1268640 pixels less than your actual resolution... so why not give it a try? 2.- Apparently exporting MFCDs in DCS A-10C is a resource expensive task and we will need to live with it until ED solve it, in the mean time why no disable the MFCDs in the 3D view? as suggested by this post http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=70931&highlight=disable+mfcd 3.- I don't know if you are using version 1.1.0.8 but have a look at this post http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=75880 I never played DCS A-10C prior version 1.1.0.8 so I can't (and I'm not trying to) say this patch have impact on performance, but my poor Geforce 9800GTX with its 512MB can't handle 4480x1080 even at low settings Regards -
Thanks for the welcome Well, I was surprised when Microsoft shut down the FS franchise leaving his entire community wondering: Now what?. (Apparently a new version is being developed by MS Game Studio called just MS Flight) DCS has so much potential...:D

I just bought a A-10C copy today just because I can't wait anymore to star playing the Hog... I bought it directly from ED's page because, as many of you, I think we need to support this games series.... and altough I haven't played the A-10C yet my experience with the shark and all the videos about the A-10C available in youtube tells me that this DCS module worth every cent... so much that as soon as I can I'll buying the boxed version too.... Thanks to ED Team

After ejection, you'll land on your feet. Now what?
fzfq3m replied to Humanvegetable's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hey... there will not be any rally without proper coverage!!!! Get a couple of Sharks on the air to follow and narrate the race live... BTW... before ejecting don't forget to point your Hog's nose directly to the enemy... :music_whistling: -
VS461 I'm not an expert but I think what you are looking for is a game profiler wich allows you to created virtual joysticks (with desired amount of buttons/axes) and map keypresses to virtual joystick buttons/axes... Have a look http://emutastic.emulation64.com/netosoft/projects.htm http://ppjoy.bossstation.dnsalias.org/Docs/PPJoyMain.htm Hope it helps

Black Shark lost its settings and required re-activation
fzfq3m replied to Galwran's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hi Galwran Please experts correct me if I'm wrong... but AFAIK Black Shark would validate against internet once a while (about once every month) in order to check if you have a valid installation... cause something similar happend to me: I went on vacation for about a month and during that time there was a problem with my credit card and my ISP couldn't charge me for internet service, so they suspended the service... When I was back at home I tried to play Black Shark but then a message saying that it needed to validate my serial in order to play.... I just contacted my ISP, restored my internet and fired Black Shark... It took a while to start the mission but there was no message about validation and all settings were as I left them... I couldn't find any reference on the forum about this but I remenber that I read it somewhere,... may be in the small manual that came with my DVD version of the shark... unfortunately i can't find it.... and I just realized that my serial is also on that manual :-( Another thing that I though is that it could be caused by a driver update (just guessing),... I mean: How starforce activation reacts when there is a change on device drivers signature??? For example... I own a Geforce 9800gtx and previously it appeared on device manager as "nVidia Geforce 9800GTX" but when nVidia released an upgraded version: the Geforce 9800GTX+ they inclueded that signature on the driver and now my card appears on device manager as "nVidia Geforce 9800GTX/9800GTX+".... Of course I know that starforce has this: "StarForce detects changes to your computer hardware/software as described below, a new activation will be required. For the Russian version, each purchase includes 3 (three) activations and 10 (ten) deactivations. When released, the western version will include 8 activations and 10 deactivations. The deactivations can be utilized to save activations when altering your hardware/software. Activation will be required if the hardware/software changes exceed 12 points as rated below: CPU ID: 13 Windows PID: 3 Computer Name: 3 Hard drive volume serial number: 3 MAC address: 6 RAM amount: 6 For further details on the copy protection system, please see the StarForce FAQ: http://www.star-forc...sers/group2.php" Anyway let the experts comment on this -
Interesting, BS doesn't like to run with high settings (in game) and 16xQ AA (forced in Forceware driver)... Launcher.exe works fine but when dcs.exe starts it create two windows and then both of them stops responding, after a while the OS (Win 7 x64) automatically terminates dcs.exe and the game returns to the launcher showing the mission statics... I was thinking that at such high settings (both in game and driver) wil just cause a awful fps loss but the above behavior is odd... maybe that my Core i7 920 or my 9800GTX can handle this config and the FPS is low enough that the OS "think" that dcs.exe stops responding?? or may be dcs.exe is simply to busy to answer OS calls!!! This same issue occurs when I try to run BS with my multi monitor setup at fullscreen, but this is a well known issue AFAIK Anyway I'm just thinking a loud

Well so far I identified some differences 1.- Previous installation was using Windows 7 RC (Build 7100) and current installation is under retail Windows 7 (build 7600)... 2.- I haven't noticed until now but in my previous BS settings the option "Use this options in all missions" was check... in current settings that option is unchecked by default 3.- In previous BS installation I got FreeTrack configured with Wiimote, and the fix for Trackir library (the fix where specific trackir library needs to be replaced by an old one) 4.- Previously I was using FreeTrack to control cockpit camera but my wiimote just died and I needed to map one of my X52's POV ministick to control camera until I replace my Wiimote... I'm guessing that the odd camera behavior has something to do with maping the POV using Saitek SST instead of mapping it inside of BB itself.... I must note that in BS I just got Pitch/Bank/Rudder axis mapped an used Saitek's SST profile to map everything else... that worked fine until I added second vga and mapped the POV I will continue trying to see if I can reproduce my mistake Regards

I've got to format my computer and install a fresh copy of both OS and Black Shark... So far all is working as is should, even multimonitor setup is working. I haven't configured my X52 Pro profile yet (I forgot to back it up before formating :music_whistling:) but I hope it won't cause me any problem.

Hi I just installed a second vga card for adding two 17" monitor to my setup... I backep up options.lua (from virtualstore) and created a new file (mymonitorsetuo.lua) in ../config/multimonitor then I modified accordly to have Shkval at 1280x1024 on second monitor and ABRIS at 1024x1080 on third monitor, main monitor is at 1920x1080... My problem is that now black shark starts with cockpit camera looking donw and slyghtly left always... and even worse: The camera won't move automatically when playing training missions:helpsmilie: I have no problem with this on normal missions cause I just need to move the camera were i want it but in training missions camera won't move until I take control... I've tried torestore options.lua and even removing the second vga without any look?? How can i restore default camera behavior?? Regards

Thank you... I was looking for this thing for about a month

Thanks for the anwsers guys EtherealN: I played your track then mine a couple of time each (both from inside an outside the shark) and I can see your point... and you were rigth I was trying to correct a lot mainly because I wanted to make an almost perfect vertical hoover. In the tutorial the guy starts the hoover and the helo doesn't translate too much from its starting position. BTW in your track I ddidn't hear the trimmer so I'm guessing that you didn't used it (Am i wrong) I also added that 10% of dead zone to my pitch/bank/roll axis (they were at 0% dead zone) hoping to encrease smoothness, but as EtherealN says. there may be something wrong with my joystick: I did a test I used the same mission/track, enabled the axis monitor (RCtrl + Enter), and slowly started to encrease collective while holding the brakes... for some reason the shark starts to bank left and pitch right even when the axis monitor says that all my pitch/bank/roll axis are centered... I know that when starting the hoover I need to push the ciclyc forward to counter-act the default triming but that tendency to bank to the left is driving me crazy... Replaying the track from outside view I can see thatin my cas the forward wheel starts pointing to the left and turns to left a bit more after I started to increase colllective... I'm going to make some test to my joysticck/pedals to see if they are mal functioning... i saw somme pics about a joystick tester called Precision Tester or 7 Precision Tester, but I was unable to find it... if someones know where can I find it pleease let me know... note: i uploaded another track,,, this time I tried to make what you did (hoover then 180º right turn, etc) Regards metryingtobegentlle.trk

How to fly with FFB joystick an non FFB Pedals?
fzfq3m replied to fzfq3m's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I agree with you... may be we can get used to fly using re-centering after trimming but I think it would be great to also have FFB on rudder pedals... it would be easier, at least for me, cause my pedals position will be always on sync with the helo pedals.... and there will be less "error acumulation"... I mean... I can push left pedal half way and press trimmer... then re-center my pedals... then push left pedal again and trim... after that last trim the helo pedal will be almost fully deflected to left (please correct me if I'm wrong)... Please don't get me wrong... I'm not complaining about the trimmer procedure... in fact I think is great that ED Team worries about giving us the best experience with this sim no matter what kind of control or joystick we use!!! Thanks ED I'm just saying it would be nice... and I would bother to buy a FFB Wheel and mod my pedals if ED tells me that Black Shark (or upcoming A10) will have support for FFB on both... Joystick and pedals anyway... that isn't gonna happend in the near future taking into account that there aren't any comercial FFB pedals on the market... so wasting precious time programming for a device that doesn't exsist is not an option. regards -
Alright I decided to walk before start running... I mean I can take this helo and fly it around, shoot at some targets and land safely... but even with the three AP channels turned on I'm still fighting the aircraft :joystick: I uploaded a track (a short one, just a few minutes) where I tried to make a controlled hoover and i wanted to know if somebody can play it and give some advice about how to improve my hoovering skill (and my flying skill in general) don't know if is just me but I think that my joystick is too sensible, and haven't mess with sensitivity cause I read somewhere in this forum that modifyning axis curves can cause non desired effects on Force feedback and trimmer. BTW i don't know why the cockpit camera always starts pointing to the left pilot's knees... This doesn't affect me on normal missions but I can't play training missions cause the camera refuses to move until I take control Regards Thanks in advance  Controlled_Hoover _try14.trk

How to fly with FFB joystick an non FFB Pedals?
fzfq3m replied to fzfq3m's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
That's why I'm crying :( -
good point You both are right... A lot of work has to be done in order to have a FFB Rudder Pedals... starting from modding current pedals and ending with the necessary code to support it in game... To be honest I have spent lot of time modding my X52 that I already forgot the procedure to get the Helo up and running... yesterday I've got to dust the checklist :smartass: Anyway I wrote another post asking about how to flight the Helo using a FFB stick with a non FFB rudder... and this came out http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=52845 Now I just need find a way to program this on Saitek's SST Regards

How to fly with FFB joystick an non FFB Pedals?
fzfq3m replied to fzfq3m's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
May be ED can release a patch to allow enabling/disabling the new trimmer mode individually per device.. I mean, that way we can operate the rudder pedals under the new behavior while using the FFB joystick without it (as it should) Don´t know is that is possible either but it would be nice!!! The other solution is to add FFB to the pedals! But that will take time so I better get used to it and keep prcticing Thanks -
Hi... I'm having hard time controlling this bird... I have a FFB joystick and a non FFB Rudder Pedals, I also got disabled the new trimmer centering thing in the options panel (don't remenber the name) My problem is that is a bit difficult to keep the helo stable when trimming and releasing the pedals (in order to they return to its center). If I release the pedals to early or too late the Helo isn't stay stable. I know it takes time to master this awesome sim but can you give some advice of how to fly with this FFB and non FFB combination?? While using AP channels of course. Regards
-
Nice... That detent is very annoying, I removed it almost after unboxing my X52. I think my next move will be to try to add some FFB to my Saitek Pedals!!! I always forget to release the presure on the pedals after releasing the trimmer.
