Licensing. ED doesn't own the code for LOMAC. You have to buy LOMAC in order to play the upgrade.

Where are the training videos? I can't find them in any directory.

Congrats ED. Well done, and my money is happily spent. Hope you guys celebrate and relax this weekend. -
Wait a second...flight sims are dead.

+1  -
Anyone have any suggestions for an ISP with high upstream bandwidth aside from Verizon FIOS (which isn't available in my area)? Additionally, what exactly is the bandwidth per client requirement for multiplayer? Thanks.

I was thinking of Sega/ETW and Ubisoft/SH5 to name a couple of the more infamous examples. To this day, ETW will not run on my system because of the bugs, and they released DLC before they resolved the major bugs, which didn't necessarily affect the troubleshooting process, but was nonetheless insulting to the numerous folks who couldn't play the game at all. Then they abandoned it altogether and moved on to NTW about one year later, leaving behind a broken mess and a mass of disgruntled long-time customers. And assuming the SH series survives the OSP debacle, it's pretty obvious Ubi is going to release new subs and campaigns that should have been part of the game in the first place as "add-ons" to an obviously unfinished game. I think DLC is fine for an MMO or RTS or FPS, but not so much for a study sim. It should be complete in itself when released. If other folks want to release third party add-ons, so much the better, but I would hope the developers don't adopt the strategy of releasing games in a piecemeal fashion. In any case, it seems technically infeasible and inconsistent with their business model IMHO.

One of the reasons I love ED is that they DON'T do this sort of thing. If they want to boost their revenue, there are all sorts of ancillary products that they can and do sell, from training materials to navaids. There's no need to adopt the big publishers' worst practices in order to make a quick buck. The strength of the series lies in the fact that they continue to release high fidelity, complete products, and they don't try to nickel and dime their customers by selling core features as "DLC" (unlike the publisher who shall not be named). In this particular instance, the "big roll out of features" isn't merely an effort to boost revenue, although that's a potential benefit. They're closing out the FC series and showing their fidelity to their customer base by integrating it into the TFCSE engine, as the original owners of FC had been told they would for years (nearly five years, if memory serves).

Any particular reason why everyone is eagerly encouraging ED to make their products more expensive? :no_sad: Maybe you folks have cash to burn (or mommy's cash to burn), but I work for a living. Let's stick with $30.
-
 Er, I imagine that would be an odd and unsustainable way for a for-profit business to generate revenue.

Let's not get carried away. I like having a semi-affordable hobby. :D

Easy now. If that's how he feels, that's how he feels. He's entitled. After all, it's ED asking for his money, not vice-versa.

ED, I have one small and very simple request
GhostDog replied to thaFunkster's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Don't mean to break your balls, but: No worries, could happen to any of us. :D Now repeat after me, "I before E except after C. . ." :smartass: -
I can live with the price bump, especially given that FC 1.1 is included. I just want to know when I can get my hot little hands on it. :greedy: Any word on a release time frame other than "close"?

Interesting idea. I'd even pre-order if that would help them to decide if there's sufficient demand to make it worth the investment. -
Have you viewed Ironhand's navigation tutorial? He gives a good explanation of how to smoothly intercept the course line as you approach the next way point.

There are no squadrons or wings in FC other than the ones that the mission designer creates. It would be entirely up to the mission designer.

From the faq:

 I don't follow. Perhaps you're using the word "deploy" in a different sense than I understand it.

GhostDog replied to igormk's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Minor note: the text above the legend reads, "mean see level"; and in the aeronautical information section of the legend you have "two ranways". Not trying to be nitpicky, I know when you're working with so many details, stuff is bound to slip past you. Just thought I'd help you catch a couple of "bugs". Great work. :D -

Erm, I think I would describe it as "satirizing" rather than "worrying". Nice one Funk. :music_walkman:
