ASTI (All Static Templates Import) tool is ready. Please check here : Few big and great templates without mods : - https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3339765/ - https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3339764/ - https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3339702/ - https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3339613/ - https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3339585/ https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3339481/

ASTI is a tool to import static templates anywhere on any map of DCS WORLD with any orientation. Static templates created by users are always anchored to the map and a specific location. It currently seems impossible to move, to reorient all these objects assembled to form scenes that could constitute very practical settings or objectives to populate a mission. With Miguel21 we decided to make a tool to change that. To use it you will need to load and install the DCE_Manager that you will find here : https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/fr/files/3315285/ You can use ASTI independantly to the DCE_Manager. With the DCE_Manager setup file you will find a PDF to explain how to use ASTI. Feel free to ask questions and report bugs here ! With ASTI you will be able to : - Place precisely one or several templates (simple or complex) with few clics on any DCS World map . - Change their localisation after a first placement any time you want - Define their orientations and change them. - Hide or show them - Change their side (Red or Blue) - Delete each template with few clics. I hope it will help mission editors to make missions easily and perhaps create a library of small or large templates that are easily reusable on any map.
-
ASTI seems to be ready to be released soon. Miguel21 worked very well : all we wanted to do are here ! I’m working on a small tutorial to help using ASTI
-
Yes ! It can contain live units too ! Here is a simple example of protected SA-2 site I made for testing purpose : This template with live SA-2 was made on Caucasus map and imported on Kola map We can change orientation or delete it without selecting each object !
-
Nice ! Of course ASTI will mainly be usable with more generic templates than air base templates which only seem usable on a specific air base. The goal is to be able to import templates anywhere to help mission creators easily populate their missions with pre-existing templates without having to reconstruct them object by object. The templates that are relatively compact and independent of the map elements will therefore be more easily usable I think. Personally I am starting to create a small library of protected artillery or SAM positions and small forts or FARPS that can be used anywhere.... Ideally I would like to be able to group this by theme with perhaps an encyclopedia style document that shows what the template looks like, its dimensions and its basic orientation.
-
Wow ! Would you mind to share all this work when this tool will be available ? I think I will open a new topic to detail the use of this tool when available… It may need a little organization to classify all templates and make it easily usable anywhere ( pictures, size, orientation, etc)
-
Well, our tool is nearly ready ! It will name ASTI : All Static Template Import. With it you will be able to import anywhere on any DCS map any existing template with any orientation ... More news and decription soon
-
It should stay destroyed… use the same target than airbases with coordinates …

Well SAR missions are mainly designed for MP play because of course you need to wait for a pilot to be shot at a reachable place near the frontline. We use it mainly after one of our squad pilot can be recovered in the next mission ... If you fly a multirole helicopter like Hind you may allow sar and strike to have other missions available waiting for SAR...

You can't add this mod only by adding it in the base_mission. Miguel21 needs to integrate it in DCE to allow il to work. Not sure how he proceeds but you can find some few external scripts added in this folder : Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods\tech\DCE\ScriptsMod.NG\Mission Scripts. For the flight times it depends clearly of the campaign type. I'm not against long transit flight with refuelling when possible but some campaigns use shorter ones. The only limitation is for helicopters because it can be painfull (or impossible) to fly more than 80 nm to just fire 4 missiles. Often I add a hidden FOB as close as possible to the front. For War over Beirut I wanted to take off the helicopters from Cyprus or an LHA to base themselves in Beirut but it was too long and complicated for just one campaign mission. The simplest thing is to find a base or FOB as close to the front as possible.

No problem I made static templates on this map one by one and Miguel21 found a way to make them appear with triggers ! Making more than one template for each unit should allow to appear randomnly on one of the preset position on each mission until destruction Do you know the static template on DCS mission editor ?

You begin with base_mission. _First is the result of DCE generation. The mortar team is a template that is added with trigger using the camp_triggers_init.lua file. All the templates are in the template folder : And here is the trigger used : And insurgent can appear in blue side it's not a problem ... for now the border is mainly used to define SAR and ejected pilots fate so the border should be like in this campaign ... not sure it works with pockets ...

Well after asking for an existing way to import Static templates on any map, any place and any orientation here : https://forum.dcs.world/topic/352663-moving-static-templates/#comment-5520460 we decided with my friend Miguel21 to work on that ! (well...I ask ... he works ) . It makes good progress but now I'm looking for Static templates with less to no mods at all to make a library for every mission maker. I'm not sure exactly what we need but at least a picture and total dimensions and orientation could be a good start waiting for more needs Here is an example of what can be done : importation of TF_Helmand_Gereshk - FOB Price from Afghanistan to Cyprus : Any ideas and help would be cool
-
One example of what Miguel21 can do now with the TF_Helmand_Gereshk - FOB Price static template put on Syria map It would be really cool to have a Static template library (and without mods if possible) ...

Difficult to say how many live objects a mission can handle because it will depend of many factors : Solo ou MP missions, number of planes, map optimized or not ... Not moving object will help it's sure but I made an all live targets version of my Iran Iraq war to have real tanks in front of my Gazelle and Hind but it was nearly unplayable When playing my campaigns in MP with my group I always have to make a light version : Miguel21 is often laughting at me because he knows I really don't like to cut in my base_mission One solution would be to use Templates that you can put somewhere then remove and put somewhere else. It would make sense for this kind of war and there would be less units in the mission at the same time ... My next campaign should be a kind of NAM war and I will make big use of templates I'm afraid that the only solution to know if it passes is to test the campaign

The first tests are encouraging Stay tuned

Well there were one old french tutorial but it seems really too old and there were too many evolutions tu use it any more I suppose I should do a new one but it it will need time. My first advice would be to look at our last updated campaigns to find the basic structure of a campaign and start from it ... War over Beyrut is a good example. All important files are in the INIT folder and you will have to begin with a base_mission.miz file with side bounderies (red and blue) see the mission for exact names and settings Then OOB with planes and shoppers bases, numbers, reserves, and mission types Then targetlist using it in coordination with the filling of the base_mission targets using coordinates, statics or live objects (be careful of the lives targets very heavy for PC configurations) Of course db_airbases must be actualised with all the airbases setting (including side) for the campaign map. In the camp_triggers you will define all the triggers you will use to delay target squadrons or templates activations and victory or defeat conditions .... Fill free to ask for each specific category here : it could be usefull for everyone

After changing my saved games I had to change it in Manager but I failed : here is my solution : Create a new setting : put the good paths for all then save. It seems that modifying an existing path is not working … I will report it

Well, we are studying something

Not sure there’s a strike loadout for WOB campaign Mirage F-1EE in the loadout file you can find in the scriptmod folder. I will correct it as soon as I’m at home but if you feel confident enough you can add WOB in this file for the loadouts you want ….
