I hated the thing at first. Then I figured out how to fly it. Then it was being a PITA and I could not employ weapons on anything smaller than the side of a mountain. Then I figured out how to aim a bit better and get into stable hovers and take out a row of tanks. Now its a pretty fun ship. I can even hit things with rockets while flying in at 175+IAS and avoiding AAA. Damn SAMs are still pesky though.

Yeah, if the blades on the BS dont get real short before completing some of those maneuvers.

Where are you at? I have a CAD table that cuts corrugated designs. I am a designer in the packaging industry. I ahve some designs for my simplified pit which will really be basically a Helios type pit. Got a chair design and controls positions. Next is to cut out prototype and then transfer to MSG and screw everything up. Too bad our tables can't cut wood. Just a reciprocating xacto blade for papers.

You can run any card you want if you have win7. Not sure how the 220GT stacks up, but they are pretty cheap. What is the budget you are wanting to stay in? That is the most important factor. 250GTS is a pretty good card if you want to get to the $100 range. For ATI, the 4850 is a good card at that same price range.

Easy to test different CPU effects. Turn off cores and down clock. A faster CPU would not cause lower FPS either, it would make no change if the GPU is the bottleneck. Increasing everything else will do nothing if you keep the same bottleneck. I would definitely find a loaner to test if you can though, thats a good idea.

People claim CPU is important in sims, but DCS does not utilize 4 cores to their fullest. Wish DCS could tell us what the most important factor in FPS performance is with their engine. Mine has lots of slow downs with med settings blur HDR and 8xMSAA. I think I am going to try turning down the MSAA. I turned it off to just see how bad it was and its very ugly.

Win7 can run two video drivers. I have run that way but not in game. I am also wondering if it will work as I have a 7600GT to use for MFCD displays as well.

Hardware is the cheap part. Learn programing code and spend the next couple years of your life working on drivers and GUI programming so it works with all mothboards and os'es in use today. Then spend the rest of your life modifying that code to work with all the next software. $300 is a bit insulting for what you want. A capacitve touch monitor is way more than that much and you want a super thin keyboard sized one. I like the idea too but be reasonable with your price. Libretto is sweet except for it's name.

I got them to circle yay. Watched the whole thing unfold till about 25minutes in. Then I clicked off the sim accidentally and crashed the mission. Grrrrrrr. Now that I am getting better at the ME, I think I may go over to my BS install and make a good one. At least it wont crash on me every 5 minutes. :mad: Need to keep up my practice in BS anyway. :book: Anyone interested in a big battle is free to download and comment. Your CPU is running slow. Its a dell so OC is difficult and would require software clocking instead of through BIOS. 2GB means some more stuttering when loading textures. 4gb will help. Your video card will be fine at low settings and lower resolutions. Dont expect to play on a 1080p very well. Watch Tiger direct. They often have Barebones systems needing only OS for dirt cheap. Couple weeks ago was a AMD x4 w/ 2gb DDR3, 1tb, optical drive, video card (weak, but still included) case and PSU. For $299. For another $75 you could get 2gb ram, and then start saving for a graphics card. There are good deals out there if you can put it together yourself and have an OS serial number laying around.

Your flying looks good. Very smooth and controlled I thought. You even asked for start and taxi. You used the PVI also for WP. I usually just look at the arbris. For Taxi, you probably had too much collective and were near lift off. Could not see how much you had. Just add collective till rolling then you can pretty much take it all the way down. Its not a race car so it will tip over if you taxi too fast. I dont know why you could not lock the tanks. I took control and had the same issues. Once they stopped I could not really lock them easily either. After a while of messing with it I finally did and took them out. Makes me miss BS actually. I may fire it up again soon to take a break from the head aches of A10 beta.

Did not have my 940 before patch but it's a reinstall of sorts so give it a try.

I installed g940 well after installing bs with 0 problems. Win7 os there is a modman mod for tutorials to work in 1.02.

I was able to get the battleship to run into shore in my mission. The island in your mission may have a bigger force field or something. Or maybe speed boats stay farther away? I have placed boats at docks so it should be possible to get pretty close to shore. Will have to wait till I download your mission tonight to experience it. Could you have the boat reach a waypoint, then disappear and a static boat object be placed in the correct location on shore?

Hmm I have flown into the towers with no effect.

The wind will turn the cold engine blades when the engines are not running.

F18 is my last choice. Would take any jet ever in the air over it and not really sure why I have such distaste for it. Maybe top gun is one of my favorite movies ever and the bug squashed the tomcat. Its too bad the engine is not open sourced so fans could make their own modules. I am sure someone could take the VRS craft and make them work in the DCS engine if the code was open. Would take a lot of pressure off ED to keep us happy, and they could deny any model they chose if they were also developing them.

Will try that tomorrow and then hope I can play the mission through but I suspect a crash is inevitable.

How is UAVs top gun? Sounds more like a stealth sequel or something. I guess Kelly wont be the heart throb.

That makes sense as the rocket flares did not look anywhere near that good.

Environment looks a bit cartoonish, but its a harrier game, so that is good. Is probe the name of the game? Never heard of aceman either, but didn't hear of DCS before BS either. Is this a selfmade game as your SN is aceman? Are those fire effects post production editing, or is that ingame. If its ingame, its absolutely amazing and probably the best I have ever seen.

I have a g940 and I find it very nice to use. Its a FFB so I do notice some notchiness at times, but made flying the Black shark so much nicer than my old center sprung stick. Also, when I trim the WH in game, I can feel the stick moving in the direction I am trimming. Very nice to know its working and what direction its going. Only other sticks I have used are Saitek all in one. Twist grip, and throttle controls on the flightstick. Not too bad and a nice cheap way to get started. I love not having to twist the stick for rudder anymore though. I was thinking of saving for the WH and selling my G940, but I am just not that sure its worth well over double the price after getting pedals. I got my g940 for $225 or something a few months ago on sale. Well worth it for sure.
