I was looking for a campaign for F14B. To be honest I usually ignore the campaigns included with the modules because usually they are always broken in some way. But I gave to this one a try. Glad I did so!! Brilliant campaign. Glad to hear the "real" Jester. I cannot post yet a full feedback as I am progressing with Mission 8 only but so far I love it. The mission 7 I needed to refly some time. Once the SA18 was not shot down by the hornet, I was waiting for a long time. (Actually the SA18 shot down the incoming maverick which I think is a little bit strange). Other time I shot down the Hind but nothing happened. A real missile launch from the SA18 would be nice (trigger for launch). It should be survivable if flared properly. At mission 7 I'm lagging quiet a lot, I see that there are hundreds of units moving and even my 8 core i7 cannot keep up. BTW when you lock the hind Jester kept telling me that it is a friendly. It happened several times. At first I believed him and I broke the lock and continued. I did not check it with the camera, so later I had to turn on the labels because I was flying for an hour to find that damn Hind. I could not read the full thread yet but do I understand well that a persian gulf campaign is coming too? Would be awesome. If there is anything I could help with I would love to. Thanks!

I have just finished the Persian Freedom campaign. I must tell you I was blown away by the greatness of this campaign. To be honest I never thought that after the Enemy Within Campaign I will find any at least so good campaign. I was wrong. Absolute masterpiece. I liked the story, very immersive and realistic. The characters are great, dialogues are cleverly written. The creator's obsession to avoid any default communication at first strange, but to be honest it is understandable. Although it limits the cooperation with your wingman a little bit. It is clearly visible that much attention was taken to the JTAC operations. Very realistic procedures. Finally Somebody is making difference between Type I and III control! And huge high-five for the JTAC system that waves you off if you do not follow the IP restrictions! (however sometimes the tolerance could be little bit bigger) The missions are diverse, you will not get bored as you progress. Thankfully you do not have to fly hour long to the IP. Dialogues are sometimes very fast, for non-english speakers the subtitles could be shown for a little bit longer time and after the task assignment a short sum-up should be shown what to look for and what to do (in the later missions these were used). Sometimes I had the feeling that some characters voice is coming from the same person just a little bit altered voice, but I could be completely wrong here. I did not encounter and showstopper bug. Some small things I discovered but nothing that jeopardized the mission. In general the campaign is not easy to finish. You have to know your A10 very well even under pressure. I had plenty of missions where I was shot down several times, but the mission was so great I could not stop playing them. I have learnt a lot and at the end of the campaign I became a better A10 pilot. In a nutshell: The best A10 campaign for Intermediate pilots who seeks realistic experience. Thank you very much for all your effort making this campaign! Can't wait for Steep to return. I will definitely be a first day buyer of that. If you ever need a voice (East-European / German) accent I would love to help. Stay safe! Hooooya!

Thanks for the heads-up. In that forum I see that 60 degrees attack angle should be entered. Correct?

I know that this should be reported in hetblur's bug list but somehow it happens only if I fly this campaign. At ground/carrier I can use the backspace to hide/unhide the stick but as soon as I take off I cannot hide it anymore. Anybody experienced it? I cannot reproduce it, because in single flight or flight editor launched flight the bug does not appear.

Hi! It would be nice to have additional separate key binding for FLAPS UP FLAPS MVR FLAPS DWN positions. On certain joystick configuration it is sometimes tricky to live with the flaps retract and flaps increment bindings. Thanks!

Hi Maybe this was requested earlier but could not find the topic. It would be nice to allow for mission editors to exchange the default voice dialogues. E.g. If I want that the player uses the default menu for AAR but I want to record a new voice explicit for this mission. Not only the voices by the "player" but responses from stations too. The script would be the same just specific to this mission/campaign. It could be achieved with a specific folder structure and pre-defined wav file names that could be copied into the mission package. If the game does not find in this structure the belonging wav file than it plays "default" voice, similar to texture fallback solution. CustomSounds General ATC Inbound.wav Inbound2.wav Inbound3.wav RequestStartup.wav StartupApproved.wav Wingman EngageBandits.wav EngageBandits2.wav Tanker RequestTanker.wav Mission One Wingman EngageBandits.wav HoldPosition.wav Two.wav This way we could really have own voices to our storys but still use the default communication/command menu avoiding the "F10 Other" menu thing. For one message we could include several versions and DCS could play them randomly or in sequence. What do you think?

Feedback after finishing the campaign
tsgucci replied to tsgucci's topic in F-14A Fear the Bones Campaign
What makes you think I don't own that already? Perfect! If you ever need a voice (East-European / German) accent I would love to help. -
WARNING MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS! Few weeks ago I have finished the campaign. In a nutshell this campaign set a new standard! The missions are created with great attention to details, the promised 80's feeling is absolutely there. Finally a campaign where carrier operations are a must! To be honest when I started with the mission one I was shocked a littlebit. Total darkness, case III, and AAR!? I thought if all missions will be like this, I gonna have problems. I do not have problem with CaseIII or AAR in general, just I think in DCS the night operations needs a little bit finetuning (tanker position lights etc.) Anyway the rest of the missions were fantastic. The briefing, the kneeboards were informative enough and I did not have to guess anytime what to do exactly. As the campaign were solely flown by the F14A and resticted to A/A I was afraid the missions are going to be too monotonous but here I was wrong again, the missions were clever based on each other and diverse enough. The story is great, the characters are complex, the voices are great and matches to the characters. This is where this campaign really excels. The optional listenable "radio shows" from the 80's is a great idea, never seen this before. The pop-up pictures during the missions like the mission success in the 80's videogame fonts is an other eyecandy. Throughout the whole campaign I had a lot of fun. Maybe 2 mission I had to re-start because of some AI bug. For total warnerds maybe the story is a littlebit too "unrealistic" or "arcadelike" (like attacking fleeing submarine crew, gunning down the main villain is actually warcrime) but hell to that, I had a lot of fun. And actually had a lot of laugh, the jokes the references to movies were great (maybe the later one was a little bit too much). So again, thank you very much for the great campaign! Really enjoyed it. If you ever come up with a new campaign to any plane I fly, I will be on the first day customerlist for sure. I would love to see such a campaign for the F14B and what is really a big need is multiplayer campaign! Thanks! Stay safe! Hooooya!

I have re-tried the drop with point track (tbh never had different experience in point or area track). It missed the target with approx 25 meters. I am attaching the track. GBU38 bug point track 25m miss.trk
-
I do not know if this is relevant but I have realised the different behavior of the GBU38 already on the hornet when the GBU24 was introduced. Since that GBU38 has a tendency to come relatively high over the target and in the terminal phase it pitches down agressively, it looks like the bomb falls completely vertical perpendicular to the target, like it would be a bunker buster bomb. Earlier it always had a shallower terminal phase and the target was hit by the side. I thought with the GBU24 that was also changed so I thought it is normal. And on the hornet 1 out of 20 cases the bomb falls completely off target, usually falls short. I use to take 8xGBU38, and drop it one-by-one in the same run-in (search for target, SCS designate, drop one, then repeat). Usually one bomb misses the target but completely wrong place.
-
I'm sending a track and a tacview file. Persian gulf map, 4 targets. SW BMP was targeted. GBU38 missed by 10-15 meters. I have made several runs. The target miss happens not all the time. I have seen also perfect hits. But something is really off, because it used to be much more accurate. Wind does not seem to be have an influence, LASTE neither. I have made short video about it as well: The bug I discovered when I was playing with the Persian Freedom Campaign. At mission 8 I try to drop it. I've made a video about it. The first GBU misses the target by 5-10 meters. This you cannot see in the video, but you can see the black crater next to the target. When droping the 2nd GBU, it misses 100-150 meters. Thanks for the support! GBU38 bug big miss.trk Tacview-20210806-184739-DCS-GBU38 bug.zip.acmi

I'm playing the "persian gulf freedom" capmaign by ground pounder sim. Already with 2 missions I experience that JDAM's (GBU38) misses its target by several hundred feets. Wind data is entered into the LASTE (CBU97 drops accurately). THe bombs does not fall short, they fall usually port side of the target. Bombs are dropped when MAN REL mode is open. Any idea?

Hi Guys! I really like the campaign, it is like a netflix series, cannot stop watching/playing it. To be hones I do not know which mission I play, it says stage II. 10th or 11th mission maybe. I had to replay the mission 3 times. My wingman over the AO reports that he is bingo, I send him to RTB (he still has ammunition), but cannot reach the ship. For the tanker he always says he is unable. The same happens with the other flights. They run out of fuel eventhough I send them RTB. At the mission end the moral drops. Anybody had the same? General feedback on the tanker. It is too close to the ship, there is no reason to hit the tanker because to get the ship is easier. I think the tanker should be pushed closer to the AO especially when the liberated areas are shrinked. It could cirlce over Starbucks I think, without problem. Thanks a lot!

Oh, okay... Sorry for me it was not obvious that I need to order him to join, I thought he does it anyway. In previous missions they followed me without telling them. Sorry to waste your time on that. One more thing with the same mission. On the way back the trigger in IP is engaged again and overlord is telling me that I'm behind schedule. And I do not know if anybody experienced that, but if you fly with A10C-II wingman they are having problems to keep up with you, even if they have the same loadout. I have experienced this with other campaigns too.

Hi There! Great campaign! Love it, a little bit harder than I use to though. At mission 5 "Downtown" my wingman take offs and then disappears. (tried two times). I ran out of ammo could not help the ship... The bugs reports should not be a sub-forum? Than at each mission a topic with bugs? This is how other campaigns use to do. It would be easier to find whether the same problem was reported or not. Thanks!
-
Hi Very great campaign! I'm not finished just started mission 6, but cannot stop I have one problem though, if I assign SEAD for any of the group in 95% they just circling over starbucks regardless if I give them harms and some GBU's (or both).

Hi! In F14A after take-off I cannot hide the control stick anymore. Anybody experienced this?
-
+1 on this one. Or human wingman
-
Could you please have a look at mission 7. The wingman talks to me when we leave the boat, but after that he is not responding to any command. Sometimes it does what I say but does not respond but sometimes it does not do anything. Once it throws all of his 54's but once it returns with all of it on his wing. Some tips for mission 7: Jump to the backseat and set target closure to nose (helpful in all mission). When engaged launch the 54's from the backseat by selecting the rear targets (backfires), hook them and then press FIrst Target and launch. The two 29-s should be dealt with the other flights. The RIO radio (AN-ARC182) is always set on a freq not on Channel 1. At each mission start make Jester to select Ch1 on his radio to be able to talk to your wingman(s). I am not finished with the campaign yet, but enjoying it a lot. It is like watching a TV series. Cannot stop it...

Fear the Bones! - Campaign Info
tsgucci replied to Reflected's topic in F-14A Fear the Bones Campaign
Thanks for the campaign, just bought it I really liked the Zone5 too. Question: Do you think I can change the aircraft to B version? I fly a lot with the "B" and do not want to mix-up the two. Also, can we fly this in multiplayer? WIth human RIO or with human wingman? Thanks a lot! -
DCS 2.7 minimizing when working on a second monitor
tsgucci replied to PHMAC's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
So far DCS was never minimized when I was clicking in full-screen mode on the second monitor but since 2.7 it does. It is very annoying to be honest. Please if possible fix this. Thanks a lot! -
Hi! I'm reflying the missions with the A-10C II and what I realised that the AI wingmans are slow, they cannot keep up the speed. They are not flying with more than 230 IAS. Especially visible this problem at M03 where all the 3 wingman lack behind by 5-10nm. Thanks a lo!
-
Exactly. I had to use labels.....

If you are a noob like me and wonders why the hell the RSHIFT+H does not bring up the NVG than here is the trick: While on the carrier go to ground crew and ask them that instead of the JHMCS you want to have NVG. Cool isn't it? Another piece of suggestion: shoot where the skunks will be, not where they are.

In the meanwhile I have figured it out. You can only enable GRCV on AUX/COMM2 if it is still on Channel 1 / Preset 1. After that you can switch to Channel 2 - Strike. Worked like a charm. BTW Great Mission!
