Love the burner of the exgerman MiGs. I don't know why but it looks different from others, for example bulgarian 29s. So airpolicing with the good old 29? Why not with the brand new F-16s? :D
-
The last 3 videos are of (ex)german MiGs launching R-60s. The first one is Bulgarian MiG-29UB launching an R-73

That is a kick-ass burner Tek, nice find. I've never seen it like that even at night.

Aaaaah... Flanker 2.51.. the good old memories... Sometimes I miss it. Especially the RAFSC missions. We don't have such thing in LO though- offline competition. BigBri last told me that he plans to move it in LO once it's out in... 2003. Only heard of him once ever since- has taken different direction, no more flight sims.
-
I don't about the 33 but I'm sure he has a server that scans the Universe for the string "MiG-29K" :D Cheers Jens! ;)
-
I stand corrected :) The F-16's are block 40/42 indeed from from 510th fighter squadron "Buzzards" of the 31st fighter wing.

Here are some more. All real. Pictures from http://www.bgspotters.net Some more Mi-24- pilot's pit from the same flight: In the night: Combat maneuvering, UPK-23 gunpod is attached: FIRE!!! They were deployed there to perform GAI for the visit of the US president. On the background you can see one of the (former) An-26's of my company: Jetpilot, the author of the airborne pics:

I personaly know the photographer of this one- he made some really nice shots of my company's Ka-32 as well.

NON-COMPLIANCE TO ECM IFF "Check"
RvETito replied to cool_t's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
We, in RvE, have found our solution for this- no ECM for fighters in our server. It's clear that it's not modelled properly and could be used as an exploit so we decided to save conflicts like that in our server. I, for instance, never use it when I fly a fighter. I found it more disadvantegous rather than being helpful. -
EOS only. This is a two-seater MiG-29UB, it doesn't have a radar.
-
Depends on the aircraft. The MiG-29's engines for example have air starter and an APU which feed them with bleed air during startup. The Su-25 have electrical starter-generators and needs DC power to crank the engine. Either way it's automatic procedure- you just press the Start button and watch the parameters. In case something goes wrong you can abort the startup procedure. As for the connection, usualy russian a/c have both 208/115V AC and 28V DC plugs for ground power. The DC is enough to start the engines.

Happy Birthday Mate, best wishes.
-
I did, just like in LO though ;) But that's because it's automatic, if you go Helmet mode and do it manualy it's instantenous. This is how you spool up two planes from one GPU (picture from "Байко", http://krilebg.net): Night startup: Su-25 spooling: Reflection:

Woooot! Here comes the rep rain for ya Kusch ;) Since you brought the subject I'll put some more fuel into the flame :D Exclusively bulgarian MiG-29 HUD footage including CAC- switching between missile and cannon in EOS VS mode. The attacking plane is a two-seater.

Fisben, tester who is part of the ED Team now is avionics engineer in the MiG company. He said that they make special tunning of the engines for exhibition flights which makes perfect sense- you can see footage of the MiG-29K in naval trials on Kuz where is smokes like hell and this demo flight at MAKS where it doesn't smoke more than any other modern fighter. The engines of the slovak MiGs should be RD-33 2nd or 3rd series if have been overhauled or produced recently. The engine provides excellent performance of the aircraft (stable operation in any condition, thrust, engine acceleration, fuel consumption) but it's week point is the combustion chamber, hence the short TBO and poor reliability.
-
Not quiet. When oil penetrates the flow zone of a gas-turbine engine and burns it causes white to light grey-light blue smoke. This is purely not fully burned jet fuel which is caused by the poor design of the combustion chamber which is too short. Actualy it smokes the most at military power. But note in some pics in that site that it smokes even at minimum burner which I see for the first time. From what I've seen so far right after the afterburner ignites the smoke disappears. The slovaks have some helluva engines in their planes...

From pilot.strizhi.ru- demo flight of the NATO-standart upgraded slovak MiG-29's. Those engines needs urgent upgrade, or perhaps they run on carbon :D What attracted my attention is the cockpit- some interesting stuff there: The onboard TrackIR :D 30 years old but still deadly:

I don't need to talk to anyone- I just have to look into the mirror and say aloud what piece of junk Ka-32 is. In the next second the mirror will probably get broken :D This is how it should be- the more you work on it the more it becomes a part of you and vice versa.
-
You sound like you are married to F-16 :D Chill out man, I just said that all the extra features ruin the elegant shape of the original, as an aircraft engineer it is my job to search for aesthetics in every shape of the aircraft. And what's your problem with my helos? Your beloved Flacon easily can initiate a massive forest fire but can it supress it? :D:D:D
-
You wish. With those CFTs and that additional compartment on the top of the fuselage it looks rediculous. The 'clean' version is beautiful indeed. Unfortunately many planes' exterior suffer from the range+avionics disease- look a the MiG-29SMT for example- a fat a$$.
-
This is for those who claim that helicopters stay in the air because the ground rejects them for being so ugly. Dream on you airplane fanbois... :D
-
Hmm, that's strange. It would be much more (cost )effective if they ship the engines to France but apparently there will be some equipment in this a/c that the europeans shouldn't get access to.
-
If you gonna make CFD simulations with Fluent make sure you have 2GB only for it. Oh man... Disclaimer: Disregard the above paragraph. It's been written by an individual with corrupted mind. At least lately... This is what dark science does to people...

Only the engines will be US made (GE). The rest is 100% EU. 330 assembly line is in Toulouse, France- how do you expect them to move it accross the ocean? :D Besides, one of the major complaints of Boeing is that the government gives job to foreign workers. Look here- http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/7272272.stm and quoting: A department- yes, but where is the plane? Have you seen it? ;) I believe it still hasn't passed the virtual phase.
