  1. Even if you are fast mover fan I'll suggest anyone to try BS- you'll feel what DCS is all about. For the first time I see a design philosophy based sim. Even try learning the Ka-50- it will open a whole new horizon in front of you. Or at least you can estimate what to expect from the jet modules because they will bring at least the same philosophy, perhaps even more advanced.
  2. The physical model of the Ka-50 is a generation ahead even from the Su-25T in FC. If it was not the similar graphics engine I couldn't say it's derivate of LO.
  4. I hope for an S because I wanna bomb :D
  5. A huge smile appears on my face....
  6. I believe he meant radar switching off all by itself, not that he has been unable to lock it so ECM blinking is not an issue. It's more like the EOS taking over the radar which is nonsense. One more thing- you might want to use ILV mode within 25km, it gives the most stable lock ragardless bandit's heading.
  7. It's indeed anoying. That's actuly partialy modeled radar-EOS interaction where IRL you can slave the radar to the EOS- beyong 10km EOS provide azimuth data while radar provides range with very short micropulses, claimed to be undetectable by mid 80's RWR. Within 10km the radar emition is fully off and the range is provided by the laser rangefinder- fully passive mode. In case the EOS loses track (for example target goes into a cloud) the WCS automatically turns on the radar in emition mode you should not loose the lock. Once the EOS has clean IR signature in sight the radar goes off again automaticaly. Unfortunately in LO this is messed up. As you have noticed sometimes, in good range the bandits starts beaming or goes cold then the radar is off and it's trakced by the EOS. This looks more like EOS slaved to radar but I think this is incorrect- since the radar can't track then what gives range data beyond 10km? And moreover- like you post- when the EOS looses lock(lets say bandit is turning hot) the radar doesn't come back, at least in RWS. So you have to do it manualy which is a huge crap. What you can try to compensate that bug a lil bit is to switch at the right time the radar from "HI" to "MED" at the moment the bandits is beaming. You'll havebigger chance to keep the radar lock.
  8. I believe it's normal. Usualy, for aircraft with more than one system one of them is main the other is standby. I'm not familiar with 25's hydro system but I suppowe that sys 2 is backup providing power only for essential components.
  9. Another thing I noticed just yesterday- take a look at the wheel brakes indicator when you operate the landing gear lever...
  10. This is a Guardian rejiment russian MiG-29S. I'm confused a bit...
  11. This reminds us one more time how weak we the humans are. We can't fight the nature, all that we can do now is to pay respect to the victims and their families. Lets not forget that we're guests on this planet and sometimes- it can go crazy. RIP
  12. IRL R-60 and R-73 always give sound warning in pilot's earphones when the seeker is tracking a target, in LO we have that modeled only for Phi0 mode. The AIM-9 though 'screams' as it shohld in all modes.
  13. Tho LO's model is correct- stabilizer with elevators, it is not fully deflectable 1-part stabilizer.
  14. This is a serial Su-25T.
  15. Few more things to add- The F-15 has the advantage of carrying more countermeasures. So in the russian planes you have to be more careful while using them. With AWACS or EWR avaialble in the mission the russian planes have the advantage of the datalink picture which they can use for sneak attacks. I hope that gives a basic picture to you, Alexray.
  16. Ok, an attempt for an input now. Regarding BVR- Su-27/33- Advantage of the Su-27/33 is the big number of missiles onboard. Detection range and look-down capabilites are also good. That gives to the Flanker room for more option than the MiG for example- you detect him further he can. Also- the 27/33 is a flying fuel tank- great range and you don't have to worry about flying burners that much, again compared to the mig. Also it has the missiles with biggest range in the game (human controlled a/c). Disadvantage- no active missiles, no TWS shots, you need to go STT and always compromise your launch, so in multiple target engagement it's more dificult than the F-15. It's deadliest weapon in LO is the 27ET because it gives no warning. The Su-33 has an advantage of having two extra long range missiles. F-15- powerful radar, great detection and lock range, great look down abilities. With fuel tanks it's range is even bigger than Flanker's and carrying fuel tanks doesn't block any weapon hard point like the wingtanks of the MiG. It can carry up to 8 active missiles which could be launched in TWS mode thus giving warning only after the missile goes active (pitbull). IFF is partically modeled and for that the F-15 is "famous" with the plane with most teamkills. You can IFF but you must be careful. Disadvatage- lack of passive sensors (EOS) and small chance of surprise. So when engaging you always have yourself compromised. MiG-29S- deadliest plane in LO- small size, harder to detect, hard to spot visualy. It carries the deadliest missiles in LO- 27ET and 77. Weapon system is the same as of Su-27/33's with less powerful radar but fire-and-forget ability because of the R-77. Great acceleration rate and seems to be the only plane in LO with relatively exact drag at supersonic speed. With all other planes you can't go faster than Mach 1.2-1.3 with payload. The missiles are like airbrakes. Biggest disadvantage- short range, even with 1 tank. But because of the great acceleration you may stay out of burner and still engage or break. If you take wingtanks too then you can't take 27ER/ET missiles. This is other weak point of the MiG- 6 missiles in total with only 4 medium range. So two things are cruicial for that plane- fuel and missile management. Another important moment IMO is that flying all planes will greatly improve the skills. By knowing the advantages of one plane you can predict what to expect when you face it. I was flying russian planes only in BVR but from about 1-2 months I started trying the F-15 and I liked it. It made me better understand the BVR when I looked from the other side. For dogfight- Flanker or Eagle- no doubt about that. The MiG is so castrated in that area that it's not even funny. You can do it but you must go out of the standarts. There are people in my squad that can write Ph.D. thesis on that so I'll let them speak. The F-15 has better TWR than Su-27 and sustained turn rate too at higher speed. But watch out your pull- Eagle's pilot blacks out sooner than Flanker's. I like flying all planes and I can say I became equaly good (or bad, depending on the point of view :P- if the bottle is half full of halp empty) in any of them both in BVR and guns. Learning all of them equally made me enjoy LO even more.
  17. Enspired by my squadmate Yoda I tried few times Open Falcon 4.5. I was really impressed by the level of avionics modeling. I've seen that only in BS. One of the things tgat BS has additionaly are the modeled systems tests and even some maintenance procedures. But I must say that OF 4.5 is not that far away from BS (or perhaps the opposite- BS from OF :)) when it comes to avionics. IMO if you master the avionics of the F-16 in OF you should have advantage in learning the Ka-50 in BS.
  18. Neither are you but blessed are the believers :P
  19. Cut the crap. The best plane in LO is the one I'm flying in. End of story. Bye bye.
  20. Much appreciated!
  21. I read long time ago that with civ traffic On the trains actualy have a schedule. Searching the forums didn't help so I'll be grateful to anyone that can put some light on this.
  22. On the opposite- I love it when it throws away that looking like afterburner flame. The troubles start when it doesn't do it.
  23. I do nothing.
  24. This was brought to my attention by Klimov design bureau representative with whom I worked together 2 years ago. Perhaps he was just throwing stones at the Motor Sich factory which develops the AI-9(V) :) Myself, I don't have any idea what the Sapphire APU is like, but the AI-9 needs a replacement or at least modification IMO- especially of the ignition.
