I'm happy with Logitech K800. It's good size, wireless (so can be moved out of desk if needed) and illuminated. Keys are clearly visible in bad light. But at the same time, my G940 has plenty buttons so i don't need keyboard that much. Price was around $75.

To krz9000: You got it wrong sir. Work of ED Team is mostly based on personal creativity and willingness to work for niche who never will have volume of COD or Battlefield. They (ED team) are obsessed with idea to maintain the highest level of reality with their products and must constantly battle with hardware limits. ED is not a huge company focused on surplus. More than that, they are just bunch of knowledgeable enthusiasts who are trying to prove, yes we can. Yes we can make a sim which gives player wings he wanted for so long. This is how I feel about ED (not based on direct knowledge of company). Problems you mentioned are small nuisances. If the games would be presented in the same level of "polishnes" as for example COD, ED would must employ at least twice of much stuff (just my estimate) and the game would probably cost much more. I personally am OK with current status. I wish you many happy hours with DCS.

I believe, uninstalling DCS World, does uninstall all installed modules. Only if you will install again, you need to start with DCS World (like 5 GB) and after that all relevant modules. like KA-50 (~320 MB) .... Be careful, since ED website holds several versions of the same modules. For example for BS, there is version for people who had BS1 than updated to BS2 and now they have to use specific module for installing BS2 under DCS Word (it has upd in the name). At the same time there is module for BS2 for people who purchased full BS2 in the past (without BS1). That's different module.

My apology to Leafer. I should be more careful with names.

Guys was that Hash problem solved? I saw Leroy's post. I'm trying update and getting Hash mismatch msg all the time. I think it was posted before and general answer was try to update later. Unable to zoom In/Out in Su-25T cockpit.
Dusan56 replied to Dusan56's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Thank you very much Mustang. Works well. -
Gentlemen, after a lot of fun with KA-50 I've decided to hit Su-25T. Started to set up controls on my G940. Everything works well except Zoom In/Out (slow in cockpit). I know, on keyboard it's Num* and Num/. I bind these to my POV (or to rotary, or to straight buttons ...) but nothing brings desired effect in the game (even keyboard buttons don't zoom). Let me add that KA-50 under DCS World doesn't have any problem with zooming. I suspect that hardcore TM guys start blaming my G940. But why is it working so well with KA-50 and not with Su-25T? Actually I am just wondering if someone else experienced this problem and eventually if managed to solve it. If yes, please let me know. My system: i5, 6GB RAM, 256 SSD, N560GTX 2GB Video, Trackir5, G940, 42" Samsung TV as display in 1920x1080 (love it). Thanks in advance.

Upgrade X52Pro to Thustmaster HOTAS
Dusan56 replied to Nybble's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thank you very much for your post. With all due respect, let me add, I haven't mentioned so call Reversal bug, because I don't think there is any. Some players indicated that they had noticed some kind of a weirdness with throttle and pedals behavior, but also there are some who had indicated the exact opposite. I (knock, knock, knock) belong to group of players who are using G940 (for 7 mths now) without any significant problem. I still believe that G940 is huge improvement compared to Saitek X52 for a reasonable price. My biggest challenge with G940 was to discover dead man sensor. After I blinded it, G940 works very well. At the same time need to add that I have zero experience with real planes. -
In DCS World, all sound files in above mentioned folder are actually .wav files. Should I replace wav with ogg file? Here is the path: Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Sounds/Sounds/Effects/Weapons Am I updating wrong folder?

Upgrade X52Pro to Thustmaster HOTAS
Dusan56 replied to Nybble's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
TM Warthog is certainly the best what you can have, but if you are little money wise,I'd recommend to look for G940. Had X52 and Saitek pedals, but switch to G940 was just huge improvement. For apox $350 you can have decent stick and pedals. And as special bonus, guess what? It's FORCE FEEDBACK!!!! There is not too many guys using G940, but those who managed to went though setting up process, love the system. I have to add that I never played with Warthog, so I can't compare Warthog with G940. -
Thanks for info. Got Driver SF. Almost 9GB download. Quit impressive game. Thanks again.

Nazdar Suchaci. Ja lietam skoro vylucne BlackShark. Zacal som s X52, potom X52pro a teraz pouzivam G940. G940 ma fair number of buttons (2 china hats sa nedaju pouzit v BS2). Tak to by asi bolo vsetko. Good luck pri rozhodovani.

VAC Friendly Radio Mod

Sounds good to me. Would you mind if I occasionally ask for advice? -
VAC Friendly Radio Mod
Dusan56 replied to AJ.eightFive's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Looking forward to use it in DCSWorld. As I understand you are working on A-10C (VAC) profile. Would you mind me working (under your supervision) on KA-50 profile? So that both satisfy certain level of quality. Then both could be released as combo.Let me add that I have copy of VAC (also World with both modules) installed on my computer. Have some experience with VAC, but not that much. -
Also drive developers salaries down. The number first reason they go somewhere else.
-
Would be nice to know how. For future reference.

Thank you Joey. So if i understand properly I need to uninstal bs2 and a-10c, install dcsworld, download new 1.2.0 versions and install them utilizing my original serial numbers. Hope I got right. Thanks again.

In expectation of DCS World I abandoned my BS and BS2 patch and purchased standalone version of BS2 on 6/28/2012. Now I want to install DCS World. Red forum and got confuse. Since my installation files are like KA-50_full_en_1.1.1.1... it seems I have buy new version KA-50_1.2.0... Could you please confirm? Or it will be OK just uninstall KA50 before DCS World is installed? What about A-10C. I have a Stem version. Do I have to buy new from EA? Thank you.:helpsmilie:

Thrustmaser Warthog or TrackIR?
Dusan56 replied to Quantenpresbyterianer's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Another alternative would be Trackir + Logitech G940. G940 costs around $300 and comes with force feedback joystick, dual throttle and rudder pedals. I used to have X52 and X52 pro but it's just incomparable with G940. Good luck and let us know what you got.
