  1. I figured why I was getting such crap frame rates. With a 1920x1080 on top, and a 1280x1024 below, there was a black hole on the right of the bottom monitor of unused pixels, but it was still using video memory and processing power!! So I put them left to right in windows, but still top/bottom physically as it's like in the cockpit the windscreen up top and shkval down bottom. The original way was rendering 4039680 pixels = 17-20FPS The new way is rendering 3456000, = 35FPS That's pretty amazing jump in frame rate just due to dropping 14% amount of pixels!! My theory is that those 14% just pushed the card over the edge of it's memory. So now I've turned back on high view distance and civ traffic, and still getting 35FPS  If anyone wants res files to get multiplayer screens onto the main monitor in a 1920x1080 main and 1280x1024 screen2, I've attached them here. Remember it will only work if yours matches my screen sizes, or else you need to edit them. 1920x1080_1200x1024.rar
  2. Curious how you can get 60fps, I have an i7 with nvidia gts 295 and I get 18fps with my multi monitor in windowed mode!! Graphics are up high except for water which is normal.. maybe I'll try scenes to medium. What's your visual distance setting? I'm also w7 with nvidia 195.62 in windowed mode. Are your monitors left/right or top/bottom? Is the main window on the left, top or right? If it's not the same as me, this fix won't work unless you go in and edit the files to suit your screen. If you just want to do the chat window alone, I think it is chat-log.res and chat-say.res. Try adding to the first section \dontinflate{1} and then fiddle with the coordinates and test it until you're happy with the positioning and sizing.
  3. ok it took a fair bit of fiddling, but I've managed to get it working for me. What I've done is made all the main screens stay in their fixed size so that they don't stretch across the whole multiscreen config. However they do want to center themselves in the middle of all screens. So I've modified x and y coords. You will have to modify x and y to suit yourself, the good thing is that after trial and error on one screen, you can set the same coords for most screens the same. My setup is a 1920x1080 on top, and a 1280x1024 below. If yours is the same, then these files will work without modification! I'm glad I'm back in multiplayer now :pilotfly: I hope in the next patch ED set it up so that it calculates the position and stretch of all MP menus and dialogs based on the main screen ONLY, not the full res. See attached for instructions and res files: Multimonitor_Fix_For_Multiplayer_Screens.rar
  4. Ahh no this is really terrible now I have multi monitors I cannot manage to click on the briefing button!! It's not visible! I want to play online tonight, I will look in that location at the res files and find a solution now. I'll post back when I've found a way to do it.
  5. Ahh no I have the same problem.. My small screen is on the left. It doesn't make sense to put the secondary screen on the right because the mouse is there! If I set my left screen to be "right" of my middle, it's going to be weird using it in anything outside of blackshark... I hope ED patches this to allow negative coordinates.
  6. Thanks for that Dragon, great to see a replay of our battle :joystick: With the lights, I always have mine off as I learnt to fly from the simhq guide to flying.. so I thought it does make you more visible. Anyone know for sure whether the AI considers lights or not when detecting target??
  7. What's the range of the HAWK sam units? I tried Dragon's operation pushback last night and those HAWKs had a severe desire to kill me, smoke trails coming constantly and it seemed like it was about 8k.
  8. HT hasn't made a difference for me. I used to leave it off due to recommendations that it's not needed since there are 4 cores anyway. However these recommendations were based on an older chip that HT wasn't so good in. I've got it back on now and it's fine. Regarding 2.66Ghz to speeds as high as 3.2Ghz I've done exactly that with my Core i7. 2.66-3.2Ghz overclock with 1600 memory speed was a cinch I didn't change any hardware. I do have a HAF (high airflow) case though that's got a fan in top, side and rear which may help. I like the i7, but if there's a faster i5 one day an upgrade will come. Do you know what socket they are? Will they fit on existing i7 boards or do you need a new motherboard?
  9. Regarding is it safe, it would never be 100% safe I guess. However default the fan is only at 40%, so in theory if you crank that up you should keep your card at the same temp. You can get the tool here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_system_tools_6.03.html It installs 3 apps, open the performance app. I initially followed this guide: http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=620&pgno=1 But the fan at 100% is WAY too loud for me. I settled for 60% fan. Because I'm far too lazy to do all the testing little by little that they recommend, I just took their stable figures, and reduced them a little and I figured that would be safe for me. I have played black shark stable for 5 hours straight on full 1920x1080 without any glitches or crashes. The important part - make sure you setup profiles to launch the overclock when you open your game, and close it when the game closes. Otherwise you need to create one to start overclock when windows starts as it's not automatic. Also make sure your power supply has > 30amps on the 12v or you might get reboots as the power draw increases.
  10. I voted coop, but I could see the other way working too. Air to air against each other, would need to have some well designed missions. e.g. SideA task ka-50 to kill some ground targets, SideA also has Su-33 fighter cover, SideB has some F-15s, who have to get past the Su-33 before getting to the ka-50. Since servers do not always get enough players, what is needed is a way to change roles without having to close and open programs. ED should make a multiplayer launcher, where you can join a DCS server, and pick from any FC2 or DCS aircraft. If you own that particular game, then you would spawn as that plane in the server. That way, if a target was too far for your KA-50, you could take out the SAMs and then spawn as the Su-25, and then fly and blow the target. This is important if your team mates drop out for instance.
  11. Sounds good, that resolution is fine then. Same as I have now on 22" monitor. I've got a GTX 295 with all settings, except for water. Setting water = 0 doubled my framerate. I just got the nvidia system tools yesterday and overclocked my card as well.
  12. Looks awesome, I like my big desk and 3d headphones but I'd really like a massive monitor. What resolution do you run on that screen? Do you need SLI graphics cards to handle the res?
  13. I've updated the attachment with a new version. Changes: * Fixed mismatched skins. * Gave R-60 air to air missiles to the Georgian Su-17s, the air war is now more serious. Likely that only one fighter jet will remain on the winning side. * Other minor tweaks.
  14. Hi All, Here's my first mission (single player), I'm still learning how to use the editor so please try it and let me know how to improve it. It has one issue I know of - the wingman takes off slow as takeoff clearance doesn't come straight away, if anyone can help me with that I'd be grateful. Mission details below, it's all in the briefing too: ######################## TAIPANs "The Georgian Navy" Mission: 01 Version 1.01 Date: January 01 2010 ######################## A few years after the Georgian Oil War, relations with Georgia have remained tense. Georgia is refusing to come to a compromise during negotiations over renewal of oil field leases. The new hardline political parties in Russia that arose after the second global financial crisis have a serious agenda. Georgia has been building up it's military power with foreign money. In particular, it's Navy. Georgia has repaired damaged ships and made operational a number of new ones. In a provocative move, Georgia has sent 5 of these ships within range of the Russian border. The Georgian Navy is on the move as we speak. Russian naval assets are not in the immediate area. However, a message needs to be sent that Georgia is not immune even in the short term. TASK: Our strike aircraft cannot get within range of the Georgian Navy without high risk of loss of life and aircraft. The KA-50 however can hover to avoid detection at low altitudes. Your flight must destroy a Georgian Navy vessel. This is a task that the KA-50 has never completed before, succeed and your name will be in the history books. You will be equipped with the Kh-25ML laser guided air to surface missile. It can be employed by the KA-50 under 15km, however it's recommended to fire from within at least 10km. We will declare war soon after takeoff, you have permission to engage any resistance that gets in your way. Friendly units in the area: * 2 Su-33s may provide fighter cover against enemy Su-17s. * 4 Su-25s have been tasked to bomb ground targets. * No friendly helicopters are in the area. * No friendly ships are in the area. * Russian ground units will begin pushing across the border as war is declared. Reloading: Only select the default payload to receive the Kh-25ML. Hints: 1. It may be necessary to switch to manual fire mode to make use of the weapons range advantage. 2. The ships WILL try and shoot down your missile as well as your helicopter. Fire both missiles using long burst mode to maximise chances of a hit. 3. Use the terrain to your advantage to avoid SAMs, the ships will run out of SAMs eventually, then stay extremely low when coming in for the attack. 4. The enemy has some Su-17 fighters, do your best to avoid them if they are scrambled. Our Su-33 fighters will sweep the battle area. 5. Your mission is clear, sink a ship. Try not to get tangled up in the other battles unless it is necessary to complete your mission. TAIPANs #01 The Georgian Navy.miz
  15. I found the problem with the infantry, Manpad is not a movable infantry and it was in the group. So now I have an infantry patrol with just AKS and RPGs which is fine. Cheers
  16. Just finished it, was never engaged but destroyed a Zu-33 emplacement. I spotted him only 3km out, but he never engaged me. There was a manpad next to him who also never engaged. With the deactivated groups, are they still visible on the map? Was this an inactive group I saw? Nice mission by the way, the radio is cool as well as the other activity going on makes it seem real.
  17. Hi All, Just wondering does it matter what direction you place units facing? Will they turn around to point at the enemy as the enemy approaches? Also AA guns like the ZU, can they rotate fully? or do they need to face the right direction? How do I make infantry move? I put them "on road" and gave them waypoints, and the rest of the vehicles move out but the infantry just sits there like dumbasses. Cheers
  18. I'm trying to kill some ships with the anti-ship missile. Firing around 13km out. However they always managed to shoot down the missile. Any tips on how to avoid this? Is it better to fire from altitude or from low level? I think I might set burst mode to long and just fire both missiles at once... Cheers Taipan
  19. Thanks for a new mission! I will download it now. Cheers Taipan
