Operation "Blue Flag Normandy" - 24/7 WWII PvP Campaign - ROUND 1
BM357_TinMan replied to xcom's topic in Multiplayer
I think it's a combination of: People being a bit overwhelmed when they first join People not knowing about it People already having their favorite servers The fact that nobody is on leads to people not wanting to get on the "boring server" Unfortunately, I think a lot of people don't realize that there is stuff to do on the server while you wait for others to join. (See point 1 above) EDIT: Also doesn't help that, apparently, even when the server is "online", according to the website, it doesn't always show up in the multiplayer list (like right now) [2021-03-25 02:09] -
Bump: I haven't flown this server for a few months so some of the above may be out of date Still, check it out. It's pretty fun.

Operation "Blue Flag Normandy" - 24/7 WWII PvP Campaign - ROUND 1
BM357_TinMan replied to xcom's topic in Multiplayer
I JUST found that blueflag WWII was back up and running!!! I'm very happy about this and hope that people will check it out. See Slayer's and my previous post to clarify how this server works!!! It is a very fun server and I hope to see it more populated -
Ok, yeah, so trains don't work in a MP Normandy scenario? Well that explains some stuff I've been struggling with in my attempt to learn some mission editing.
-
Ok, so I own the reflected campaigns and they are mostly pretty good but, So many times I just want to jump into a sort of free flight quick mission where you can attack random trains/trucks/planes, etc with a flight. Unfortunately, DCS World, QMB is atrocious and really needs work so I'm asking the collective wisdom of the community if there are good quality QM packs for the wwII birds for purchase or for free somewhere. I know there are lots of missions out there but, I hope that by asking for suggestions I can save myself some trial and error. Thanks, BM357_TinMan

I've been trying to learn to fly the 109 the last few days (because a lot of the time I go online, the allies outnuber the axis quite a bit) so, I can say for certain that the 109 on the channel map has several scenerios in "intant action". I've been using "cold start". It is pretty well done. There's plenty of friendlies flying assorted missions and you get a flight of four accompanying you. You can also encounter several different enemy flights you and your flight can engage or not. I would assume that the other war birds got the same treatment on this map.
-
So, I bought the Channel map and noticed that more effort was put into not only making more instant missions but the missions themselves are fleshed out more. This is very much appreciated and I hope that maybe the Normandy map and War Birds will get more and better "instant action" missions. Given the fact that the QMB in this sim is abysmally bad, these instant action missions would be very much welcome by those of us that aren't good enough to really enjoy multiplayer so much. Mostly I just wanted to say, thanks and keep it up.

Wish List: BF109 Gunpods and rockets?
BM357_TinMan replied to Xeon's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Stipulating to the veracity of your comment, as a pretend sometimes sim pilot that occasionally enjoys flying a 109, I would still like to have wing gun pods and wing rockets to mess around with from time to time. -

Bump for rockets and wing gun pods and...a G6... ;) -
Just wanted to drop a note thanking DCS for finally getting out the windex and cleaning the canopy on my P51. This little change make a huge impact on my product satisfaction.

Check out the Blue Flag Normandy Server. I’ve been on servers where people complain that they “can’t find the action” and I’ve seen pilots text chatting to each other, “meet me at ‘x’ and alt ‘z’ and we can dogfight”. On a Blue Flag Normandy server with pilots on both sides, this would never be an issue, even if there was only one pilot on either side. This is not because it is an “air quake” server. The reason this would not be an issue is due to the way the blue flag server missions are set up. The server mission has a clear, achievable victory condition. The victory condition is met when all the objective assets are in the possession of one side or the other Which assets are objectives is clear The mission is persistent and dynamic Objective assets can and do change hands multiple times during a mission Mission does not end until one side has won [*]Defending or attacking these objective assets organically will tend toward pilot to pilot engagements without a mindless, and pointless “airquake” scenario [*]What objective is being attacked can be ascertained by various methods The website In game F10 “PAK” info In game server messages (these are really spare and generally only are sent when an action is initiative and are not persistent) There is a little bit of a learning curve but, I have provided a breakdown here: There are zones called "PAK". Each of these zones have capturable objectives that belong to one side or the other. Use the F10 menu to get updates on the status of each of the objectives in each of these zones (you can also get an easy quick view of the map with the states of the objectives on the website)Every objective (whether town or airbase or airbase/town combo, etc) has a certain amount of destroyable targets (along with various static objects that are not destroyable; it becomes apparent fairly quickly which objects should be engaged and which should be ignored). These targets consist of AAA, flak, barracks, trucks, T-Shaped buildings, tanks, halftraks and towers. As these targets are destroyed, the objective's "health" decreases. As long as the objective is "open" it will slowly "repair" (destroyed targets will be replaced)When almost all the targets within the objective have been destroyed, the objective will "close". I'm pretty sure at this time the objective will no longer repair When all the engageable targets within the objective are destroyed, the objective will go neutral and become captureableNow you must deliver troops to capture the objective (turn it from neutral to your side) This is done by delivering troops using a TF51 (whether you are axis or allied). To deliver troops using the TF51:Spawn in a TF51After the troops have been unloaded the objective will switch from neutral to your side but will be closed [*]To open the objective a TF51 must used to deliver a repair crate (side note, all logistical items, crates, troops etc, must come from open objectives in your side's control) to deliver a repair crate: Spawn in a TF51Access the F10 menu and Select CDTL (or whatever it is)Find logistical crates and select "repair crate"A crate will be delivered. You must load this crate. Use the F10/CTDL/Crate commands (or something like that) to load itFly to the objective and landUnload the crate in the same way you loaded it.After the crate has been uloaded, the objective will reopen and begin to repair -NOTE: Items 6 and 7 may have some errors. I am at work "working" and I am writing this from memory so I can not verify the correct exact steps but the gist is correct. When I get home, I'll double check and update/edit as required.- There is a bit more to it, but this is the basic idea on what is going on as of today, 24 April, 2020 And slayer has provided a more detailed and comprehensive break down here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=269779 (google translate will translate nicely on the forums) Visit here for more info: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=191068 Hope to see you on the server. Axis pilots are especially needed at the moment. Access the F10 menu and Select CDTL (or whatever it is)Find Troop Transport and load troopsFly to the objective and landOnce landed, unload the troops in the same way you loaded them For example, when an asset is first attacked the server will alert the defending side once at the initial attack, then not again.

1st time on mp yesterday... totally overwhelmed by everything
BM357_TinMan replied to ramtsi's topic in Multiplayer
MP performance decrease I have this same issue. Nowhere near to the extent as described in this post but, stuttering is always more pronounced and frame rates are always a bit lower on MP servers for me. I'll try the shadow thing and see if it helps me. Thnx -

I found myself on the opposite side from Slayer last night. We had a couple of spirited and fun back and forths before I had to call it an evening. With the new system that allows captured bases to be used by the capturing force, hopefully the axis disadvantage will be eliminated and more axis pilots will join up. -

Allies Counter 05 May 2020 Last week, after capturing the entirety of Normandy, the axis forces crossed the channel and pushed the allies hard on the British Isles. There was some back and forth, where Funtington was lost and regained a few times and even Tangemere changed hands a couple of times. Then, over the weekend, thanks largely to the efforts of Ziggy (slayer) and his Russian friends, the allies regained a foothold in Normandy and Chippelle. Joined off and on by other players, these three have methodically, over the last couple days, increased the allied presence in Normandy and are now axis are starting to feel the heat. -

Britain in peril!!!!! All of Normandy, save the Naval base at Cabourg in PAK4, has fallen to the Axis and, at the time of this writing, Funtington in PAK 1 (in South Britain) is under Axis control. This is an urgent call to allied fighters to join me and turn the tide. The most likely time to find me online is sometime during 19:00-22:30 US CDT (00:00-03:30 UTC) during the week and sporadically during the weekend. It is unlikely that I will attempt a cross channel recapture alone. (Last week I tried to defend some airbases on the continent by myself and only succeeded in getting beat time and again and loosing those airbases anyway) If I am not on the Buddy Spike server during those times, I may be in either LFDM or SoW (Normandy). Feel completely free to jump into those servers and send me a text. I will join you on Buddy Spike. -

Axis on the move Looks like it is time for an allied surge. As it stands right now, the axis are pushing through PAK3. If the allies aren't careful, they'll be pushed back across the channel. We don't want that. Time to recapture some allied spawn points before it is too late! -

FAQ Sorry, I meant to get back to this and forgot all about it. As far as FAQ outside the game, I don't know. I have suggested that information be made more accessible and detailed on the website because the whole Blue Flag environment can me a bit overwhelming at first. However, to answer your question, there is a "help" menu within the game (under the F10 menu). It does have a good deal of information, however, because it is in the game, it is a bit clunky and difficult to use. The basics, in case you don’t already know: There are zones called "PAK". Goulet Defended After a relatively calm first week of Easter with slow allied gains in Normandy (I think Amazing took the week off?), ... At around 1:00 UTC 20 April, 2020 what appeared to be a concerted axis counter attack out of Hauterive on Goulet was underway. Noticing that I was alone on the server against 3 or 4 axis pilots, Heavy joined to aid in the defense. In short time, we had more people join on both sides. Some skirmishing took place over Goulet and Hauterive. As it often does, Real Life interposed itself and I had to make an abrupt departure with, If I remember correctly, 5 allies to 6 axis. I woke up this morning (I'm on US CDT) to find Goulet still in allied hands. It was good to see more people joining up. -side note, I think I like the addition of the halftraks and tigers. Makes it bit more challenging. And the heavies flying around seem to add a bit of life to the ambiance of the server -

The heated back and forth that happened during Passion Week did not repeat itself this week. With some push back from the axis forces, the allies are currently making methodical and steady advanced in Normandy. An important "tipping point" for the allies is approaching where, unless there is a concerted and heavy counter attack from the axis, there will be no coming back for Germany.... stay tuned and join in. -

Pretty engaging back and forth going on right now. Almost the entirety of last week had the allies were pushed back to the British south coast. Even to the point where Needs Oar Point was taken and recaptured at least once. Footholds in Normandy were gained and lost repeatedly. Until a break through was made Saturday evening. Normandy was once again almost completely retaken by the axis. But, the allies pushed back right away, reestablishing their presence on the continent. For the moment, things are mostly stable with a slight allied push but, everything could change in a matter of hours........... -

Last night, there were just two of us on: 701_Snooper and Me. Thanks almost entirely to the efforts of Snooper, we were able to "close" the Azeville airbase. But, both of us had to quit at that critical time. As soon as circumstances would permit, I checked the status of the map on the website; hoping that somebody, maybe Heavy was able to connect and finish the capture before it was too late. Alas, to my great disappointment, not only was that the case and the base was fully under German control again, but, Oars Near Point is now under German control. Just need a couple more guys on at the same time to turn the tide.... -

I was on for a little over 90 minutes last night. I made three runs over the channel on Maupertus. Each run resulted in a flak and a AAA emplacement destroyed and each run ended with me getting killed by AAA fire. Before I arrived on station on the last run, I got a mesage that the airfield had been repaired. I think it would be next to impossible for a single plane to cap accross the channel. Maybe, if I was more careful and managed to take out the emplacements in one run without gettting killed I could then focus on trucks and assests. -

It didn't. I still plan on tonight (Tuesday, 7 April) at around 19:30 US CDT. I can see how my post could be confusing as 7 April 19:30 my time is 8 April 0:30 UTC and, upon rereading, it became apparent to me that I did not make this very clear. so, Hopefully some allies will show up [my] tonight.
