Am I the only one struggling with keeping the speed low enough not to break the sling? It's painful now doing long range transportation

Dead AI pilots continue to fly helicopter
Whisper replied to nomdeplume's topic in Bugs and Problems
Mi8 is just THAT badass -
Got it, I didn't know
-
MIST-wise, I'd advise to put a Late Activation group and clone it each time you need it respawned.

It's a pretty defining feature that may warrant dev time. They have the incoming Mi24, working on multicrew is not time lost for them, quite the contrary

AAR switch- is it a 3 states or a 2 states switch?
Whisper replied to BarTzi's topic in Resolved Bugs
There is, but it's currently on the wrong switch. -

Whisper replied to BarTzi's topic in Resolved Bugs
In short, RAZBAM has used so far a switch for the Refuel Light that is not IRL the switch for Refuel Light. The 3 position AAR switch is the correct implementation -

Probably some lighting somewhere :) -
The ПУ-26 (PU-26) control panel
Whisper replied to stefaanadriansens's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
PU-26 is not UV-26 (yeah, it's confusing :) ) Stefaan is asking about the Gyrocompass settings EDIT : I've not yet read the new manual about this system, but I've developped the habit of re-aligning it to True North during startup procedure, not sure if it's something that must be done IRL. -
This, +1000 I use zero curve, zero trim, and a cut down spring on my X55 to have a sensitive, low friction/counter force stick. You'll tame it pretty fast, tbh, it's not that difficult. The thing is, without the pitch/roll channel active, it's pretty damn difficult to stop it from going everywhere but where you want it to go.... And to add to it : at the beginning, you have a tendancy to be a little too rough on the controls, and when doing so with the collective on the Mi8, you often end up in a transitionnal "RPM low" state (it doesn't last long, but Bitching Betty warns you about it). In this case, your generator doesn't have enough power and some function are stopped, namely, the pitch/roll channel (in fact, the whole AP system) is disconnected!! So whenever you get an audio warning and the lady gets uncontrollable, check the green LED

See here : https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2963439&postcount=10 A) "AP Standby" button on the HOTAS section puts the AP on standby and resets the trim to neutral B) There's a trim reset button juste below the AA/Charge switch (left front panel)

The Détecteur de Départ Missile (DDM) - Bugs and observations.
Whisper replied to Zeus67's topic in Resolved Bugs
Again, it was designed for IR SAM threats. There's nothing misleading there, ofc it can detect anything provided it's presented in the correct parameters, but the people who built this had the IR SAM threat in mind, hence why they built it detecting in the downward hemisphere of the aircraft. . See here : https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=177756 Anyway, like jojo said, a bug report about it will necessitate an acmi file to check it. @Azrayen : Roger that, I understood it the wrong way, sorry for getting touchy :) -
You're probably onto a bug, but just for my information, why do you push "Magic Slave Button" when using 530D missiles?
-
Gonna test asap, this was working fine until now for ground vehicles

The Détecteur de Départ Missile (DDM) - Bugs and observations.
Whisper replied to Zeus67's topic in Resolved Bugs
Dammit .... Yes, I know it's not about the missile type ... I'm just saying it's designed (downward looking detection device) for detecting ground-based missiles, and having air to air missiles not detected is probably most of the time normal behaviour (BFM mostly include turning into your opponent, which means he will be on your upward hemisphere) and should not be reported as a bug. -

I can understand that, but "It didn't warn me about an incoming <Insert AA missile here>" is probably the intended behavior. Let's not complain about something the D2M should NOT do. -
[OLD BUG REPORTS] Cleaning and Organization of old posts
Whisper replied to RAZBAM_ELMO's topic in Resolved Bugs
Seeing 1) the post date, 2) the latest update date ( == exact same day), and 3) " I'll push this fix to development by the end of the day so should be in next update.", I'll take a wild guess and bet you'll have the fix in the next update, as indicated ;) -

It's not designed to be a magic 100% proof warning tool. It only detects below your airframe, for instance. It's supposed to be a warning for ground pounders when a IR SAM is launched at them. Not for dogfights. -
Just tested, things have changed. The option to take control of AI aircraft in multiplayer now exists, when used, the aircraft takes the identity of the player, but it's still impossible to get into the cockpit unfortunately.

Depends. If you can roll, Mi8 is a piece of cake to land, it's a plane with altitude choice, best of both worlds. If you have to make a vertical landing, you're in trouble because that thing get into VRS whenever it feels like :)
-
@Diditopgun : check https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=177320 , maybe same bug for you?
-
It's a bug in current 1.55 version, choppers refuse to land on non perfectly horizontal ground. I'd wait for a fix.

I think it's granted that SAS Off behavior is poorly modelled, if not simply absent. And I agree SAS on feels far too perfect on Gaz' atm, to the point certain things feel simply non modelled as well. But otoh, maybe we are used to overmodelling of said effects in the other modules, even if only a tad bit. Conjectures, as I'm not a RL pilot by any mean.
