ADMIRAL189'S CORNER - INCOMING SHIP MODELS
toan replied to Admiral189's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Hi Admiral, Thanks for the good news concerning the USS Kidd. I currently have an expeditionary force training in the Persian Gulf, with your excellent Oak Hill, San Antonio, along with several LCAC, all escorted by Duncan class frigates with several transport and support helicopters on board. I'm just waiting for the USS Kidd to provide a deterrent AA protection.... Concerning the French ships, a multi-purpose FREMM frigate "Aquitaine" was available for FSX, and I think one also for DCS 1.5.x. Maybe a model could be reworked from these. This would make an interesting carrier group with the Charles de Gaulle and the Durance supply ship that are already available for DCS 2.5.6. Thanks for your superb ships. Toan -
Hi Evan, It should work fine with the new version 002 of the Mirage F1 and F1CT. Check the update (January 6, 2021), here : Fly safe, Toan

Superb ship Admiral. I'm looking forward to include it in my armada. Thanks for all your excellent Mods. -
Hi, I was recently busy with my night trap qualification on the Clemenceau, flying the SEM. So, I missed the launch of the new Charles de Gaulle carrier, sorry. Excellent Mod, thanks for the new lighting and details. Superb ! You shoot faster than your own shade !... Double refueling ops below... Excellent travail.

[RESOLVED] DCS crashes during Engine start on MP server only.
toan replied to Skunk 2-1's topic in Resolved Bugs
Hi all, I have since 06.00 pm UTC+1 (Europe) a message "DCS web site not available at the moment". And the local execution just doesn't work either (no login asked for). I'm running DCS 2.5.6.59625. Any clue ? Thanks Toan -
Hello, A big thanks to you for this great refuelling ship. Together with the Clemenceau or Charles de Gaulle carriers, it makes an amazing naval airpower task force. Only missing is now the FREMM AA frigate, which was available in FSX, I think. Thanks for sharing this amazing Mod !... Toan

Thanks ggrewe and Admiral for your help, Indeed, I think this is due to other Mods I'm currently using. I'll try to figure that out. All the Admiral's other Mods work perfectly, by the way. Thanks for all your excellent work, Toan -
Thanks GAE, Excellent video, showing the SEM at its best !.... A scenario that really happened during the Falklands (aka Malvinas) war... There was a thrilling record from one of the pilots that flew the real attack and who severely damaged the Sheffield. The Atlantic Conveyor, a cargo ship that had important supplies, was also sunk during a similar raid. Nice recollection. Fly low and fast, Toan

Hi Admiral, Which version of DCS are you using, please ? Mine is the stable 2.5.6.59625. Seems to me that this might be the problem for me concerning the LCU-1627. I just downloaded it using the new link and reinstalled it with no success... Thanks for your help, Toan -

Hi Admiral, Thanks for all your work, your great models and ships, they are really amazing. I'm looking forward for the USS Kidd and the FFG. I'm using the Duncan, the San Antonio, LCAC and Oak Hill. They are absolutely great. So far, I have just one problem, i.e., with the LCU-1627, which doesn't appear in the list of available ships in the Mission Editor. I know this problem was already mentioned previously, but I can't figure out how to solve it, although I've tried several alternatives. The LCU is correctly inside my ....../Saved Games/DCS/Mod/Tech folder. I currently use the DCS stable version 2.5.6.59625. Thanks for your help, Toan -
To fire the Exocet, once the square (aka diamond) is visible in the HUD, you must move it on the target, THEN lock the target (Enter key, or whatever stick button is assigned) to be able to fire. Training is the key, as is for every aspect of flying... You'd better have a very low ingress profile to avoid detection by enemy radars (Argentina pilots flew at around 50 ft above sea level...), go up to 500-1000 ft at firing distance, switch the radar on, lock the target and then fire the Exocet. Next, you must fly fast and low to egress... That's how the Argentina pilots damaged the British Sheffield during the Malvinas (aka Falklands) war. The boat was so severly damaged that it was sunk later on, being un-repairable. Now to be historically exact, when the Royal Navy fleet sailed from England to the Falklands, their Harrier aircraft had combat training with the French Navy Super Etndard, off the French coast, to experiment with the respective aircraft performance and abilities....

Bons vols, Toan I agree. I'd like to have the rescue helicopter fly during carrier air ops. But I don't know if these helos are available anywhere, except MFS. Meanwhile, training for night traps are going on... Fly safe, Toan

Toan

I totally agree: with the F-8 Crusader, the Alizé and the Breguet Atlantic, we would have the whole French Navy air fleet in the '70-80s. But for that, we need to ask Santa Claus for several years... Now, concerning the surface vessels, there is a huge gap concerning the escort and supply ships to form a realistic naval airpower group. There used to be a detailed frigate FREMM and supply ship to escort the Charles de Gaulle carrier in previous versions of DCS (1.5.x ?). But they havn't been updated and don't work anymore. And so far, nothing for the Clemenceau carrier. Currently, I form its escort with Australian Daring class destroyers using the available Mod for DCS. And the escort for the Charles de Gaulle consists in modern Spanish frigates of the Cristofo Colombo class (Mod for DCS also). These make nice multinational fleet operating in the Persian Gulf ! Toan

Superb mod update ! Even the long range air radar antenna of the Clemenceau has been updated to correspond to the real large square-shaped one.... All the five radar antennas are now rotating, and the AA turrets are now correctly positioned below the deck. Their firing rate correspond also to the real one, i.e., 60 rounds/minute.... Given that some of this was mentioned to them less than 10 days ago, congratulations ! The Cuesta Bros deserve some kind of a Medal for their outstanding work ! Really ! Awesome ! Toan Superbe Mod ! Toan
