I know! i've been confused as hell as well :D

man, it's been, what, 6-7 weeks nearly and we haven't seen a driver release until today, i nearly gave up on getting a driver this month :P

edit: jeez! so the techpowerup.com driver *is* the real deal

quote spyre at amd game forums:

"The driver page will be updated later today. The 9.1 package is version 8.57.3, not the same as the hotfix drivers though as these fix the 6 - 8GB install problem and the previous hotfixes dont. The hotfixes are faster in various games however due to the multi-gpu threading which wont be in the official drivers til later.

If you dont want to wait, the drivers are already on various other sites."

Install of new drivers completely FUBAR'd my BS Install - Single-Player refused to run, Multiplayer fine. Deactivated BS, uninstalled and will attempt to install again in the morrow.

I have a same problem. I have Vista X64. After I install 9-1_xp64_dd_ccc_enu_74231.exe BS won't run. :-( Later on I reinstalled the driver and the game too (twice) but it doesn't work.

I try to remove the ATI driver with Driver Cleaner Net. It seems to be succefull, but the game doesn't run. I try to overwrite the whole Blackshark directory from my "BS backup", but it doesn't work too.

Huh.....thats strange, i've been using them most of the evening with no issues

So far i've flown DCS:BS in 159th server for several hours and had a session on GTAIV, both have been flawless on my HD3850.

Are all you guys who are having issues 4850/4870 or X2/Crossfire owners?

Think we might have figured it out..... turn "Catalyst AI" Off! try that pple who are having problems.....

Need to ask this:

1: are the people who are having issues just plain installing the 9.1's without first uninstalling the previous ones first?

2: is it just the vista guys having crap?

reason i ask this is because i've had absolutely NO problems all evening using 9.1 (XP32 driver) in DCS:BS (online or offline), Lockon FC 1.12, GTAIV, World In Conflict, FarCry 2 or anything else

this will disble the other card if you are using a 4870x2.......this is why i always wait till other good people test the nre drivers first before i install them.

maybe its only people with Crossfire or X2 cards? Mustang are you running crossfire?

Nope, a single Sapphire 3850 512mb card, in Windows XP SP3.

EDIT: crap, seems AMD/ATi don't like us using external locations for hotlinking their drivers......look here http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894 and click on "Catalyst AGP hotfix - Radeon HD 3000 and Radeon HD 2000 Series AGP products 2/6/2009" to get the relevant drivers.

Catalyst 9.1 drivers were aimed at fixing a few media related bugs, not really doing anything in games. I'm pretty sure in 9.2 / 9.3 we will see an updated Avivo and some nice performance improvements.
