It is already shown, I know, thanks to modules like the A10c, the KA-50 and the p51d, and I know more will join the list this year, but, I think this is really the crucial point in time to show the Flight Simulation Market / User base / 3pds, etc.. the true potential behind the DCS concept. One just has to give it a try, and, will soon understand what DCS World and it's modules can give to their users in terms of immersion, not even having to enter combat if they, just like me, are more up to simply feel the remarkable flight characteristics of the p51d, the a10c, the ka-50 models.

The p51d I bought for a start showed how close to real DCS World can model even the complex flight dynamics of a powerful ww2 airctaft. I believe there are allways copyright restriction when trying to create a modern civil aviation aircraft, but having a B200, a Pilatus, a civil helicopter (B206, R22, R44, etc...), and aerobatic airplane, a Cessna, Piper, or even a high performance glider / motor-glider in DCS World would definitely turn the attention of the users even more towards this great platform.

Civilian pilots want an entire world to fly in... not just from batumi and back!

shows more potential, then any civilian chopper/plane can do for DCS!

DCS stands for Digital COMBAT Simulator, therefore it is unlikely to see civilian modules coming up. IMO, potential is even greater within the military simulation market. Moreover, other companies are trying the other way around (FSX's Tacpack for instance).

IMO, ED should definitely focus on doing what they do the best by capitalizing on their tremendous experience in combat simulation.

As Viper would say : "Gentlemen, DCS is about COMBAT...there are no points for second place...dismissed."

Yes, after all DCS World is a Combat-oriented platform, and it performs beautifully in that area, but take me as a good example of someone who is, in the very 1st place, a civil-type simmer, and couldn't resist DSC World, even giving away the all-World for a restricted (but still big enough...) scenery area because, above all, I seek quality, accuracy, detail in a flight simulator, and DCS perfectly fulfils those requirements :-)

I may end up entering some aerial combats, but for now I use DCS primarily for the pleasure of "flying" !!!

And... military versions of civil aircraft used in logistics would be welcomed, without falling off the boundaries of DSC World... Or a KC-135, a Starlifter or a C5, a C130 !!!!, etc...

I would like to see a much larger area to fly in, and more civilian aircraft.

I know a lot say its a COMBAT simulator, but in my experience there tends to be civilians around wherever the combat happens so why not in DCS ?

Adding more aircraft to this simulator can only enrich the experience for everyone, its up to the mission designers to set a scene and add the applicable aircraft. :)

+1

Ideally, there would be a lot of civilian activities going on during combat, especially near towns and cities (just like in RL). One of the biggest concerns in modern warfare (not the game :D) is well-being of civilians and strict adherence to RoE.

Civilian casualties are huge negative propaganda (and big moral impact) and it would be great to simulate negative aspect towards the side which ignores collateral damage in campaign - less public support results in cut budget back at home so no more endless supply of AIM120/R77 in later missions, or opposing AI gets particularly aggressive and brave, for example ...

However, CPU toll is huge even without lot of civilian activities at the moment, so that is another side of the coin ...

DCS needs major UI overhaul , briefing screen is no go.. tiny text box and couple map pictures (if your lucky)

Everything feels so exel ( yes , it may be popular style in russia but not in europe)

Immersion begins in UI ... and thats is always broblem with dcs, it was sterile in Flanker and its not much better today.

Fancy seeing you here Jcomm!

Ditto, I think expansion to at least offline General Aviation would work very well. But online would work if aircraft restrictions were applied, eg no ammo or only GA type. They have the navigation working, so it really wouldn't be that hard. We will certainly support and publicise the cause!

Just check the list of upcoming mods.. soon you all will have your 'novelty' plane/chopper (as long as the chopper is a huey) to play around with.

I myself don't really get the thing about 'almost useless flying objects', but i'm thankful for their implementation anyway, as the might draw a bigger crowd.

I just updated Falcon BMS, so my presence here will be minimal for a while..and I will be in the right side of the amraam again!

Fancy seeing you here Jcomm!

It had to happen, sooner or later :-)

DCS p51d is the very first prop aircraft simulation I almost have nothing to complain about, and even the few aspects I complained about in the first contact with this MASTERPIECE were easily overcome as soon as I got rid of the bad habits from other simulators...

The flight dynamics model used for the p51d, and most certainly for the other modules in DCS World is sophisticated enough to allow for a realistic simulation of prop effects (torque, p-factor, gyroscopic AND SLIPSTREAM) up to the point of taking into account clipping effects, interference effects between surfaces, etc... It's PERFECT! or at least, the most perfect I was ever able to experience!

System's wise DCS World is also the best I have seen after Aerowinx PS1 (the famous b744 simulator by Hardy Heinlin). My only problem are the weapons, which I really am not a fan of, but will probably start to be... :-)

Then, and while I have started it only a couple of times to taste it, came BS2, and soon A10c. They are all so overwhelming, and even the scenery area so good, with all of the excellent light / weather effects, scenery (even if sparse), that I really can't see myself getting back to any other sim.

I tried A2A's p51d before taking the plunge, it was excellent for msfs standards, but the moment I started DCSWs p51d... WHOW!!!!

BTW: Are you from Avsim?
