MadTommy Posted June 7, 2011 Author Posted June 7, 2011 Thanks a lot mate. Heh, were you trying to make it bigger to get all the weapons data to show? yeah.. i've messed about with these files quite a bit in the past..but the menu width (rearm) has me stumped right now. (so i started changing numerous lines trying to id what each section does.. only to find my back up for 0.7 was quite different. i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. MadTommy Posted June 7, 2011 Author Posted June 7, 2011 Yeah will do.. but god knows where it is... i can do just about everything to it except expand the width.. the width does not seem to be controlled by any of the files in the radio folder. :( i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. andyfoot Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 (edited) Which version on Notepad should I use? I'm not very familiar with programming, so please excuse the ignorance. I went to the Notepad++ website and downloaded the zip file, but it contains two versions "ansi" and "unicode". I use Win 7, 64bit, not sure which version of Notepad++ to use and don't want to risk trashing my install. Please disregard, went back to website and downloaded the Installer version. PeterP Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Try this: Drag/Drop and Click-able Radio Communication menu v1.1 for DCS 1.1.0.8 The ReadMe: Drag/Drop and Click-able Communication menu 1.1 for DCS 1.1.0.8 There a two versions and a backup: 1. Drag-Drop-Click tweaked layout Drag/Drop and Click-able tweaked layout has a greater font, the Headline is green and the chosen option is highlighted with a Gray underlay. (The gray underlay is very helpfull in a outside view - when you have a bright background and/or no visible mouse-pointer !) Loadouts are now fully readable if you use a horizontal res. higher than 1440px. 2. Drag-Drop-Click default layout Drag/Drop and Click-able default layout of the Communication menu without visual changes. 3. Backup Backup of the overwritten files if you want to have the default non-click-able communication menu back. Installation instruction: Copy the contend of your preferred layout into your DCS A-10C root folder and allow to integrate/overwrite the folders and files. Example: G:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C Follow this link if you have annotations and/or questions: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?p=1234565#post1234565 How to create a unique spawn point of the Menu: Edit the "menu.res" with a text-editor (I recommend Notepad++ -its freeware!: notepad-plus-plus.org ) in ...\DCS A-10C\FUI\Resources\Radio You will have to edit line 20 and 32 Default line 20: \coord{802, 25, 1024, 40} read as {802=Horizontal starting position, 25=Vertical starting position, 1024=Horizontal end Position, 40=Vertical end position} -all values are drawn from left to right and top to bottom. And you have to know that DCS will always create a grid of 1024x768 to position the menu on the screen - whatever your used resolution is. An example using THE default values: Lets assume you use 1600x1200px as your resolution, the Headline of the Comm Menu will spawn at 1253px horizontal (X) and 39px Vertical (Y) - because: X: 1600 / 1024 = 1,5625 and 1,5625 x 802 =1253,125 Y: 1200 / 768 = 1,5625 and 1,5625 x 25 =39,0625 You will have to repeat this calculation for every value in the line 20 and 32 of the menu.res with your own resolution to get a spawning point that fits to your needs. So you now understand that you have to do this edit yourself and it can't be included in this mod because the spawn point depends on your unique resolution. -PeterP- 2011/06/27 Download 1

PeterP Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 (edited) Now I just need to make that actual radio trasmission text bigger too and then my old eyes will be happy. Hope that The following explanation and files will help you out. To make the text of the spoken transmission bigger we have to edit the log_list_box_item.res \istext{1} \fonttype{font_dejavu_lgc_sans_condensed_15} ; default {font_arial_10} \thickborder{0} \xshift{0} \yshift{0} \drawitself{0} \activating{0} \pressing{0} \sendparent{1} \hasborder{1} \alignmentleft \elevated{0} \isswitch {0} \upclick{1} \frameinactive \is3dtext{0} \is3dtextdown{0} \readonly{1}And the to prevent that the text will be cut off at the end (similar like the payload menu) we have to edit the log.res \dialog \begin \tag{-1} \coord{0, 0, 1024,768} \acceptmouse{0} ; \musthavecursor{0} \dontinflate{2} \onmainview{2} \layer{100} \end \static \begin \tag{2} \coord{802, 25, 1024, 40} \color{200, 200, 200, 50} \drawitself{0} \fonttype{font_arial_13} \fontcolor{255, 255, 255, 255} \alignmentleft \caption{} \end \multicolumnlistbox \begin \tag{3} \coord{0, 20, 1024, 768} ; default {0, 20, 800, 768} \defaultitem{Radio/log_list_box_item.res} \columnswidth{1024} ; default {600} \rowsnum{30} \alignmentleft \bordercolor{255, 255, 255, 255} \visiblescrollbar{0} \hasborder{0} \readonly{1} \endThe lines that I edited are "marked" with a annotation including the default value. In these post I explain how to change the font size: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1235389#post1235389 use this info to customize the font if it doesn't fit to your needs. A notice about making the spoken transmission = Log with the mouse controllable. Yes its also possible - but after fiddling quit some time with this around I have decided to not include it here and in further versions of my modification. The reason is that every new transmission with a different receiver will spawn at the default position (left-top corner) and not at the position you have dropped the previously one. This will trigger more problems than it will solve. To get around the problem to always "bend your neck" to search for the Log you should edit the Spawn point of it to your needs. Example: Go to log.res and open it with a editor. Go to line #27 And edit the cords like I describe in my readme of upload. To be more specific for the given problem that you would like to have it in the centre of the primary monitor: \coord{0, 20, 1024, 768} ; default {0, 20, 800, 768} edit the red number to move the Log to the right. min=0 ; max = 1024 So lets say you want it spawn in the middle it has to be 516. You can copy the attached files without problem in coexistence with the "Drag/Drop and Click-able Communication menu 1.1" mod because the files are not interfering with each other. I will see how the feedback will develop and than decide to include it in the mod as an 4th option. edit: I was happy how it is now - as I said before I made this mod first for my own to have quick access to the comm with a touch-screen... and I always used successfully my ears to get all the info and relied that the JTAC would include all critical info in a text massage that I could look up in the MFCD and put it in the CDU. But I'm interested in your opinion and would like to invite you to test for debugging. Edited July 10, 2011 by PeterP

cichlidfan Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Works like a champ!:thumbup: I love it. The size is just perfect for my display. I am running a 27" @ 2560x1440, BTW. The thickness of the letters makes a huge difference. The white now stands out even against a really light sky. With the menus moved there is no need to move the logs. The big issue there is that I kept having to look left then right (until I get used to everything) and it was driving me nuts. The menus are plenty close now so my neck is much happier. Not to mention that with TIR it was a little disorienting as well.
