Stock Aircraft Skins...

ENO

Recommended Posts

Eh guys... I'm having a trouble getting any search with the word "skins" in it weened down to a realistic number of results.

Basically- what I'm looking for is a display of skins that are already included in the game. There are about 20 included skins for the A-10 but unless you've had experience with them it's tough to figure out which is which.

Has anyone ever put together a portfolio of skins or do we have to do it the old fashioned way? (write them all down then go searching for images on google / load each individually and then "fly."

Wouldn't be too hard to get 20 A-10s on a flightline each with it's own squadron markings and then screenshot them all with the name of the stock skin- I'm just wondering if anyone has already done that and save me the redundant effort...

I think someone did actually make a bunch of screenshots of each aircraft, but I don't know where that thread is at.

However using the model viewer is much more powerful and useful for this sort of thing.

I use a batch file with

bin\ModelViewer.exe

placed in my DCS install folder.

Within the model viewer you open up the 3d model file generally found in bazar\world\shapes and you can change the livery in real time.

Its also the best way to create skins as you can quickly check your texture alignment.

I ran my Modelviewer.exe as Admin and nothing happened..:music_whistling:

There might be another way to open it, but I've always used a batch file. Just create a text file and add the following to the file.

bin\ModelViewer.exe

Save the file and change the extension to .bat

This turns it into a batch file. Place this file in the root DCS install directory. It works like a link, so just double click the batch file and it should open up the model viewer correctly.

Thanks for the hard work getting these, but I recommend turning off HDR, and adjusting the sun angle with the far right slide bar :)
