BitMaster Posted March 27, 2017 Author Posted March 27, 2017 If you bought 32GB 2133 you payed at least like 240€ now, that is still quite some money. 16GB 2133 will buy you a nice 850Pro SSD 256GB....about same price. I try not to waste my money more than I already do by gaming DCS on a Computer WAAHHHH Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
Pilotasso Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 they dont loose 240€ if they sell the 2133 mems. I have spent some time doing that in the past, I always got most of the money back, specially if the parts are recent. .
Moafuleum Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I hope you can forgive me when i didn't read the whole pages so in case I already missed it, I'm sorry, but: The thing we are of course only interested in, is: What would you prefer for DCS :D Has somebody already suggestions for a new processor, if someone liked to upgrade within the next month (i5-7600(K) vs. R5 1600(x)). How is the Ryzen expected to perform with DCS?
BitMaster Posted March 29, 2017 Author Posted March 29, 2017 You cant beat the 7700k if you oc it, thats a fact for DCS and most other games that do not utilize all or many cores. For anything else the Ryzen is an alternative. How much difference..?? nobody knows the hard facts yet. If I had to guess, maybe 20-25% less maybe. i7@5G and Ryzen@4G Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
Nash Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 I think for DCS nothing can beat 7700K as of yet ... May be Zen2 will have a surprise for Intel ... I have decided to stick with Intel till Ryzen decidedly beats Intel in both multi and single core performance. Pilotasso Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 your right the 7700K is faster for DCS. But I cant stand on that leg alone, I have to consider general use and have that projected into the future to properly engineer my next rig. And during my research I came to the conclusion I'd rather give up Mhz rather then cores. Why? there's nothing that the I7 can run that R7 can't almost equally well. I can tweak and overclock any CPU but I cant grow more cores. I can change the AMD CPU later for minimal cost, the I7 is on a dead end. Adding insult to injury, 6 months from now (at most) they will finally lower the I7 7700K price when they re-brand it as I5 8600K cofee lake tech for 100$ less and no IPC improvements. That's mental. .
BitMaster Posted March 30, 2017 Author Posted March 30, 2017 No doubt, if you build a general purpose machine with "some" DCS you just cannot disregard the Ryzen, I wouold do that too then, actually if I had the time and use for it I would just get one to "have it". It's just I dont need an 8-core for anything I do, I can run 3-5 VMware machines off 3 SSDs with this CPU for testing. Sure..and 8 core could do it faster and even more..4 more cores..no question at all ! Wish I had one to play around with...LoL Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
BitMaster Posted March 30, 2017 Author Posted March 30, 2017 ooops ~45% faster than 7700k after optimization for AMD.... not that this is true for each and every game but it shows that there is significant potential in that Ryzen monster. *found on [H]ardocp forum btw Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
alessander Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 anyone tested dcsw with ryzen cpu? Yes. I compared R 1700 vs FX-6300 in DCS1.5. The FPS in heavy processor load track (unrestricted for VGA) to increase by 40-50% in default and by 50-90% at a frequency of 3.8 for both CPUs. I have HD7870XT VGA, therefore in DCS2.0 the difference in FPS is insignificant. 1 VR HP Reverb G2, Monitor Samsung C32HG70, CPU Ryzen 5800Х3D, MSI X570 ACE, RAM CMK32GX4M2F4000C19 2X16Gb (@3600), M.2 960PRO 500Gb, M.2 2000Gb, VGA RedDevil 6900XTU, EKWB CPU+GPU
