I believe that the logic required for this relies on a datalink implementation (no way for AWACS to know what you're locking otherwise), which is currently absent in the F-18.

They can know via the provided radar cursor bullseye reference, I guess.

DISCLAIMER: My posts are still absolutely useless. Just finding excuses not to learn the F-14 (HB's Swansong?).

Annoyed by my posts? Please consider donating. Once the target sum is reached, I'll be off to somewhere nice I promise not to post from. I'd buy that for a dollar!

That might be a problem unless you are really close overhead, seems like the laser beam ends at like 10nm from the emitting source, known issue in the harrier

Could definitely do it with JDAMs though. Punch in some coordinates and you're pretty much able to drop that thing from any height you want

I voted for air to surface radar, because I have never seen a proper simulation of this, and am eager to learn more about how it actually works and looks.

I know that it is not the most important thing, nor is it the priority, until now I love everything we have. But I'd like to see more scratches and dirt on the Hornet's glass. They did it with the Mirage 2000 and they guessed right. Just have the feeling that there is something that separates the pilot from the rest of the environment. This would help immersion.
