Deadman Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 I'll pm you with some info thanks https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
Deadman Posted April 1, 2012 Author Posted April 1, 2012 Well I have recast the AN/ARC 164 knobs and they turned out great along with the new Air Refuel Control Lever. Several other molds did not turn out well do to trapped air even after putting in the pressures chamber so a 50 50 day. I here are some pic in the folder http://s236.photobucket.com/albums/ff236/Deadman-722/Knobs/ Witch ones are the originals? https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
Deadman Posted April 1, 2012 Author Posted April 1, 2012 Thanks but with the amount of time and money i have put in to this so far I really hope its more than just a few of you guys feed back has been limited. I am trying to get the left counsel done then open sales. to generate some cash flow. The nice thing about these knobs it that they will not need any sanding or filling. Just drill and paint is what i am working for that is why i just scraped the last two molds. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
linden Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 I think it seems like a good idea to sell one side to get some money to the rest of the cockpit. Hope I can see you post it for sale before the first series is gone:)..
Deadman Posted April 1, 2012 Author Posted April 1, 2012 I amnot sure what you mean before the first series is gone? dmarsh07 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Hi Deadman I'm also interested for a full set and all other A10 controls you are desigining checkyrsix@shaw.ca
Deadman Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 I will post here when I start production here ar some pictures to wet your appetites. All of the clear knobs resin is degassed and pressure cast but there are still a few glitches to work out. I may have to remold the canopy defog knob you can see it is trapping Minni bubbles around its edge. Now I have some packing to do all most time to hit the road https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
linden Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 looks nice!!! I think it will fit in my cockpit real nice:)
reactorone Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 very nice !!! I can not take the complete set unfortunately. Can you tell me the price for knobs, I can not remember? R1
Deadman Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 (edited) It will depend on how many people order and what type of knobs the the clear resin is more expensive takes long to work with and is being a pain in the but with bubbles. I am hopping to keep the price in the $6 range but that will increase do knob size and volume as well for example.I cast the AN/ARC 186 thumb wheel as a part of the knobs for that radio panel. The cost of the mold and time to make it must be distributed across the orders if only three people order it unfortunately it will cost more. The same may be the case for the RCV knob. I can't give you an absolute firm price until things are made I have a fairly large investment in time and cash at this time I am not looking to get rich but, I cannot afford to give these away all so I hope that i can provide the quality and value that satisfy most of you . I have sold several sets of knobs and a few individual knobs to pit builder on another form and am waiting feed back. If i can fit casting in to any breaks i may have in the next several weeks i may open orders on limited items such as the AN/ARC 164 ,186 ,RVCR knob and Clear knobs for the AUX Lighting panel because the mold function and i need some cash flow on this project. Deadman Posted July 4, 2012 Author Posted July 4, 2012 (edited) new molds HI guys I have remolded the AN/ARC 164 Radio knobs, molded the TACAN , Intercom panel, AN/ARC 210 Radio knobs, ILS. I just need to remold a few other knobs.I still am looking for knobs from the Avionics Auxiliary Panel (AAP), (CMSC)(EWIP) I am not happy with the material i have for the gray and black knobs it has a shinny finish where the previous material i had all ways dried matte so I think I will reorder the older material ,and I will be able to get some quality casts made after the holiday Edited July 4, 2012 by Deadman https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
BHawthorne Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Do you have a ballpark figure on full set kit price?
Deadman Posted July 4, 2012 Author Posted July 4, 2012 (edited) Brad the problem with that is I don't have the complete counsel set, I am missing the Avionics Auxiliary Panel knobs I will do the math and list a panel by panel cost. after the holiday thanks DM Edited July 4, 2012 by Deadman https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
Deadman Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 (edited) Yes as full a set as i can provide I am remolding some knobs now and casting others for the first time. The materials are degassed and cure in a pressure chamber. Even with these precaution for a quality mold or cast. One bubble in the wrong place ruins the knob mold and i have to remake it.Hopefully these will all turn out soon Edited July 11, 2012 by Deadman https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
