Warthog_Farmer Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Hey folks, This is a truncated version of a Sticky in the forum on using the Autoupdater and applies to those with DCS OpenBeta (not steam) already installed but it's not picking up the new beta straight away. Credit to SkateZilla for the technique Navigate to the folder where DCS Open Beta is installed, LEFT SHIFT and RIGHT CLICK the "bin" folder and then click "Open Command Window Here". Then type "DCS_Updater.exe update" then hit enter. Et voila!
djbordie Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 will try it, thank you hope it applies also to fresh beta installs who are stuck @ "initialization" and "downloading me" windows.
drummer Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Thanks, followed instructions carefully and it worked! Gierasimov Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Run DCS_updater.exe install first Hey folks, This is a truncated version of a Sticky in the forum on using the Autoupdater and applies to those with DCS OpenBeta (not steam) already installed but it's not picking up the new beta straight away. Credit to SkateZilla for the technique Navigate to the folder where DCS Open Beta is installed, LEFT SHIFT and RIGHT CLICK the "bin" folder and then click "Open Command Window Here". Then type "DCS_Updater.exe update" then hit enter. Et voila! Well, if the above doesnt work run (type in command window) DCS_updater.exe install first then run DCS_updater.exe Intel Ultra 9 285K :: ROG STRIX Z890-A GAMING WIFI :: Kingston Fury 64GB :: MSI RTX 4080 Gaming X Trio :: VKB Gunfighter MK.III MCG Ultimate :: VPC MongoosT-50 CM3 :: non-VR :: single player :: open beta
djbordie Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 unfortunately neither works for me, both sit at "initializing"
djbordie Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 EDIT FIX* teamviewer and or bitdefender closed both, as sometimes teamviewer does funny things to programs/games. worked right away crazy fast download speeds. faster than my steam regular.
Evilducky Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Didnt work for me. Still started the updated, then closed it right out :(
bawki Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 dcs_updater update does nothing and dcs_updater install tells me that it couldn't resolve the hostname, I dont know which though since there is no log I could possibly find on my system.(checked Saved Games but it is empty) This is on a pristine install of DCS 1.5 beta on Win10x64

Mojeaux Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Updater problem that returns with each new update Updater problem that returns with each new update; In the past I have ran the "USER SUPPORT" route trying to get a fix for my problem..I can not get a handle on it Support can not get it either!... Normally when a stable version comes out this error will not manifest on my PC. I have to do a complete fresh and new install everytime a update is released. I held out this time, before asking or posting for help, but this last little update is going to cause me to have to do a complete and fresh install with all my modules....This time when I ran the updater I got a autoupdate_log.text -Notepad, log to appear. If someone could find a clue as to how to fix what it always says "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process." It would be great! This error prevents autoupdates. I've been with DCS for a long time so I think I know the drill... here is that log!autoupdate_log.txt [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
TWC_SLAG Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 All I get is a window telling me that the auto update feature has been suspended, and that the only way to update is a full re-install. Chops Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I am unable to update DCS World with the latest update, and have been trying for 2 days. I have run the Repair utility several times also. Additionally the download is very slow. My log file is attached.autoupdate_log.txt
Koriel Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Tried the regular way by just launching DCS Tried a repair, tried a forced update to the latest beta. When the installer actually starts to download, after a second or two when I see a few mb's have been downloaded I get the error. Attached the logfiles.autoupdate_log.zip

ED are aware of this issue some users are having, hopefully a new updater will be available soon. Some users have solved the issue by using a vpn, which seems to be the only work around at the moment, alternatively wait for the new updater. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? I was editing my previous post with screenshots and already have another option to try. And sofar it works! I don't get my usual 12mb/s download but only around 3MB/s, but it works! Might want to put this solution in a sticky as well. Actually for when I travel I use my own vpn, now I had to look elsewhere. Having success wth https://www.vpnme.me/freevpn.html no signup or anything, just an ip, login/password. Excellent!

Another work around is to just change your region in date and time while you update then change it back once finished. Forum rules - DCS Crashing?
