Hello ED and forum visitors,

 

We are experiencing massive lag on multiplayer missions.

We had around 30 guys and everybody had lag or we did not see other pilots move, or they stopped moving at some point.

We did a server restart, we tried other missions (to check if it was mission related) and these other missions have been running perfectly fine before, but same issue.

We are running the latest DCS Release version that came out last Friday April 7th 2017.

 

Are we the only ones with these issues or do more of you have this same problem?

 

If yes, are you guys from ED aware of this?

Stuttering/Lagging in DCS 1.5 & 2

 

Hi everbody,

I just wanted to test the new version but I've got a big problem.

As soon as I am in the game, I've got massive lagging problems. Every 1-2 second the frames drop von 70-120 to 1 and this happens all the time. Even when I leave the game, because the mouse curser starts also to lagg in the menu.

 

I've already tried to put all video settings to low, changed everything in ATI Catalyst Driver and used the repair function, nothing worked :(

 

This is the first time, I've got such problems.

 

My system:

 

Radeon 390X

i5 2500k (@4 GHz)

Game on SSD

16 GB DDR RAM

 

I hope you can help me.

nope i had it today

notably when both myself and the other pilot where fighitng in ground units near one of those damd buildings that gets blown up and keeps blowing up all through the mission

 

am assuming till i hear otherwise its realted to that as it got worse the closer i as host got to that building

While our lag is not massive, we are also experiencing increased lag, jerks and pauses with a much smaller number of clients. This is very disheartening to us because we did not experience these things in ver 1.5.5. Problems began with the first release of 1.5.6. A rather large number of "fixes" and "improvements" were incorporated then but at the same time a lot of other things were broken and new bugs were introduced too.

 

I think at the moment the stable release version is sadly lost in numerous bugs, problems and some amount of indifference. Nearly all of the attention seems to now be with Alpha, WWII and the merge to 2.5 instead of insuring the stable release is up to the high standards we've become accustomed to. There's just too many versions now for ED to manage. Unfortunately it the stable release that's going to be left behind in the race to new and better things.

 

We're not happy with it, but we do have faith, and will deal with it while still remaining unhappy until a new release version is playable without all the frustration.

 

EDIT: Multiplayer jerks, pauses and lagging when flying A-10A, F-15C, Su-33, Su-27, Su-25T, F86 Sabre.

Ah ok yes im getting big pauses in MP to then it comes back, At the moment ive only found it in the hawk, flown A10C F-15 spitfire and 109 and not found pauses.

Sorry to hear more of you have issues!

At the same time I'm happy to hear it's not just us...

Especially since I spent (another) 25 hours last week, on the mission we did today (I was afraid I messed up something in the mission).

 

It is indeed very bad for all DCS players, even more for bigger communities like us in TAW, where many players come to play DCS every Sunday evening and then we end up with these issues.

A lot of folks get unmotivated to join again, as they are expecting some form of issues in MP.

 

I hope ED will spend some time on fixing this asap, stuff like this might cause people to walk away from DCS and start flying BMS or one of the others.

Most of us are paying customers and we do expect the MP side of DCS to get some more love and attention.

 

Any word from ED would be very much appreciated!

Daft question, I know, but does it occur in any specific circumstances, or can it be reproduced simply? For example, would it occur on say... an aerobatics server or do you need some type of combat to occur and what type of combat, mostly ground troops, only with tracer fire, certain weapons in play? Usually if you can reproduce something simply it's worth then posting as a bug, but without much information its only a generic issue that can't really be solved. It might be reproducible you know, by say getting certain things to happen from AI. I know it's going to be really hard to do on a live server of quality where folks are wanting to turn up for your mission specifically, but I dunno what else to do than try to get more info.

I use hawk in ACG server does seem random sometimes after takeoff like yesterday then today halfway through a flight its only happened after this patch :( i know the m2000 gives a pause on server when entering slot but ACG dont have mirages its a strange one this

The only thing I can put my finger on is the CBU-97's exploding when dropped from the A-10A. Not when they explode and disperse, but when they explode on their targets. This is another old bug revisited. Most other jerks and pauses seem completely random as far as I can tell, happening when rolling in on a target and lining up the bombsight for a weapon release or just flying straight and level then beginning a turn.

 

We realize that a player spawning in or an enemy flight spawning in creates a pause, can't help that, it's always been that way, but all these new jerks, stutters and pauses are 1.5.6 specific only. They did not occur in 1.5.5.

for us its mainly when we use mlrs and the server is producing all the rockets th elagg goes when it stops

it would also be usefull for the servers casualty or dead units to dissapear after a period as saving all those burnt out hulks is part of the memory leak causing problem saving them plus adding new info as the day goes by increases the memory the game needs. there is no valid reason for dead units to remain visible on the map after a certain time frame
