Can't launch weapons or fire in missions and campaign

Hi guys,

I have worked my way through the FA-18 training and was excited to start with the campaign. However, I have been dealing with a very frustrating problem, in missions or campaign I can't fire my gun or launch other weapons. My throttle and other things work, but I can't seem to shoot any weapons. I use a simple thrustmaster flighstick x. I have key bindings for shoot cannon, and weapon released assigned to but my joystick and my keyboard. Whether I use my keyboard or my joystick it does not make a difference.

I have also checked that all the firing requirements are set correctly, master arm is on, so it must be a software issue.

Does anybody have had this problem. Help is much appreciated!

What weapons are you trying to use? Are you in the air to ground or air to air master mode? Are there any “dud” cues on the hud?

It's impossible to know without a video or track file. It wasn't long ago I was at the same stage as you. I had many occasions when I couldn't get things to work. Every time it was me not understanding or omitting a vital step. It probably isn't a software issue or thousands of people would be reporting the same thing

Remember the 3 basics:

You MUST have a weapon selected in the stores page (boxed)

You MUST have selected A/G or A/A mode

You MUST have master arm selected ON

I had usually omitted one of these ..........

Then each weapon has it's own parameters that must have been set. Rockets are good for testing as they don't need any fuse/codes/delivery mode.

Create a mega simple mission. 6 trucks in the desert. Your aircraft 10 miles away. First practice strafing. Then some rockets etc etc. THEN you can post with a track file if you're having problems.

No, except when I've misconfigured something or forgotten part of a procedure i.e. to uncage the seeker before firing a HARM in TOO mode.

AFAIK all works fine for me till yesterday evening at least.

Question: were you able to shoot before?

I mean, were you able to shoot during training?

Thanks for all the answers, I got the problem for all weapons A/A or A/G. In training everything works fine, i can launch different weapons and fire the cannon. I am 99,9% sure this is a bug, because for instance for the Cannon i have all the things below ticked off.

Check to see you aren't in game avionics or game flight mode. Also check that your controls are sim/real not game/easy layout.

He says he has gone through the training, so he must have used the weapons successfully. Why wouldn't they work in missions other than training? I wonder if he has game mode or game avionics mode ticked, and maybe those options are overridden in training missions?

Yi-haa I fondled around with game flight/avionics (I have them both off now), and for some reason it works.
