Mig-21SMT or -bis Model for LockOn

hey folks,

my dream since lanker series is to have an Mig-21SMT or bis model for LO. non flyable would be ok-only a 3d model to add.

i love this bird and it would be a very nice and realistic addon for the sim

does anybody know if somebody is still working on a 3d model of this beauty for lockon?

i think it is a nice basic and with some modifications it would be a nice addon. what do u think?

The MiG21 even today is a real threat to other modern planes ;)

How many polys is that model? I would guess the things to do on it to get it in lockon would be some poly reducing or add poly to it to increase the detail (depends on how many poly the model is), unwrapping, animations and damage model. From the picture I would say the fuselage is good enough detail, maybee add some in the cockpit and undercarriage, although its hard to tell from that picture.

Francous, it's a nice looking Fishbed you got there, the only problem with it I see with my Mk.I eyeball is copyright, AFAIK most of 3D modellers build their models from scratch. In other words, model you got might bring you some copyright issues if you decide to commercialize it or publish!

Hint: heavy modding of polys might come handy!

I'd like to see a standard Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-21, Yolon made a great model and it's a real fun but me being born in ex Yugoslavia and now living in Croatia got used to seeing a standard delta Fishbeds (F-13, PF, PFM, M, MF, R, bis, US, UM, UMD) so having one of these in LOFC was always my wish. And a good damage model too! At least we can use it as a BVR drone.

hmm, i don´t see any problem with the model regarding copyright in this case. . . it´s absolutely freeware, and should really no problem in my opinion. (i´m a database and technology software license sales representative in real life :-)).

the yolon fly - model is nice, but it is a little bit to large in comparison with the other lock on models and it is the very old mig-21 f13. . . with the smaller fuselage. . . i dont know yolon´s (ricks) interest in creating a new one. . .

Yeah, it's a real shame that one of the world's most produced aircraft used in many armies of the world received poor tribute from ED. I always missed it world of LOFC, but considering the fact that none of the countries in the Black Sea region use it no more might justify it's absence.

But, like I said at least we could use it for drone shoot out! ;)

i saw the kroatian mig21 fly around at the adriatic sea close to istria, the next harbour was pula.

every year when i was sailing there, they made fly bys and practised over the sea area.

sometimes, during the wars that were going on in that region, we saw f-16 and ea6b prowlers from aviano ab too. once i saw a f16 low level over the sea next to the town pula, or coastline, headding for italy, and we also saw some of the migs do that a couple of times. but the migs never broke the soundbarrier like the f16 did :-)

most of Croatian MiGs are based at Pula INTL and they often practise at Premantura or Kamenjak parts of the Istra peninsula.

Our Croatian airforce often participates in execises with NATO so seeing a Falcon or a Prowler over Istra is nothing new.
