Updater issue with 1.27

I am really pissed I bothered updating to 1.27:mad: or tried to update and still trying.

 

Open DCS saw update available ..... clicked ok updater went off to update and never seemed to do anything .... waited and waited, in fact got fed up waiting.

 

Therefore downloaded new dcs world files 1.27 and modules to reload, removed corrupted version and installed from fresh .... then guess what fired up and updater went sync and same old problem of waiting for ever!

 

Does anyone have any ideas other uninstall and put back 1.26 which I am considering!

 

Love the game and the graphics etc, but I wish DCS would sort out there f#*king loaders!

I understand your frustration, keep in mind this is a small company doing big things with small groups of people.

 

To avoid the headaches of the beta and constant update errors and bugs keep 2 ver. of the sim on your PC. I use the Beta 1.2.7 as the headache ver. and I keep 1.2.6 separate to always have a playable copy. I even have the Steam ver. on a different drive. I use for steam games.

Is there anything in the log files to indicate a reason for your troubles?

 

I've had no problems with the updater (currently running 1.2.7.23803).

 

Check the DCS Logs under: C:\Users\<your userid>\Saved Games\DCS\Logs

 

I would also check the Event Viewer (Control Panel, Administrative Tools), Windows Logs, Application and see if there is anything listed related to the Updater.

 

Post the error here and someone might be able to figure it out.

I have the exact same problem except that in addition to all of the above, I cannot even close the update window and I also fail to get the system to shut down or restart normally. When I force a reboot of the system and try to run DCS, I get an error message telling me that the updater is incompatible with my system and requires me to check with the administrators. I have found though that if I start the game directly from the DCS.exe file I am able to get the game to run without going through the updater. I do hope that a solution will be found for this updater issue! I will try to port some log files when I get back from work.

Some have had to run update dcs world from the start menu to avoid this error. it may work for you too.

Um, I like to stick to the facts here...

 

Look at the date of this post. DCS's current 1.2.7-1.2.7 beta are new and semi stable. Better than 1.2.6.

 

So again do not take OP's statement out of context. IMO.

 

To help the OP. I would recommend you take the time and follow these steps.

Reinstall 1.2.7 to current ver. Get the beta well, updates now check on their own, we are in limbo to see if it works!

I believe we had a bunch of these threads and one consistency was that all affected people had bit defender.

I had the same problem and the fix was easy. I might have shut down bit defender momentarily (not sure if that was necessary) then I right clicked on the updater.exe -> restore previous version. Chose an old one like a month or two old. and run it again and it should go without hanging in initializing or anything.

If that doesn't work please read the threads that are already existing about this issue. It's solvable, don't worry

Had the same issue, I'm a Bit Defender user. I turned off everything (mainly firewall), we'll see what happens. Hopefully I can get this to work before tomorrow when I can get CA and FC with my birthday money, and before my computer shits itself with the firewall off lol.

 

EDIT: Turns out Malwarebytes was also blocking it. Need to turn that off too...

 

EDIT 2: Turned all of Bitdefender's crap off and nothing. I think I may have a separate issue, maybe.

It says the computer won't let the updater run because it is 32-bit or some crap like that, this is the issue I had before. I can play the game just fine via using launcher.exe, but I can't update the game and I need to to play anything other than the absolute base DCS

As I said restore an old updater.exe and have Bitdefender and firewall off as well just in case.

Other threads about the same issue might have more solutions or a downloadable old updater.exe you can use in case you dont have an old one under "restore previous versions".
