hello guys!

is there a way, to tell AI planes, to attack only specific targets in a big dogfight, while ignoring all other threats/planes?

with the waypoint option attack unit, this is only partly possible, as planes then still seem to react to other threats, and forget about their task, attacking suddenly other planes than set in the ME...

thx for your answers in advance

haha thx guys for your fast answers...but im afraid i do not understand either answer... :)

-whats roe?

-invisible, you mean that all the other planes really are invisible, and that one cant see them?that would be a no-go for my purpose...

Invisible just means invisible to the AI... so let's say you set one "threat" that is supposed to be ignored as invisible... it's still very much there- but the AI can't engage it. for example, if I wanted to set a human JTAC up in the vicinity of enemy forces to simulate it being hidden- I could make it invisible. It's still visible to human players but AI with its magical x-ray vision would not be able to see it.

Invisible is also something that can be turned on / off with a condition. So let's say you configure it to work in conjunction with a flag that turns on / off... you can set a flag to turn on at a certain point in the mission which would turn the invisible setting off so that that aircraft could be visible for the rest of the mission.

Let's use my JTAC as an example: I want him to be invisible while he is in the trees but I don't want him to be able to come out of the trees and park next to an enemy vehicle... or go out into the open and engage targets with impunity. I can set up a zone around the JTAC vehicle with a condition on the invisible setting to turn invisibility off if the JTAC exits the zone.

I can have invisible set on the condition that flag 1 is true... in the trigger section I'd need to make sure that while the JTAC vehicle is in the zone, flag 1 is true. When the JTAC is outside of the zone, flag one sets to false. This means that invisibility would turn off when the JTAC is outside of that zone- which should keep him in place (provided the JTAC player realizes that condition exists).

If he's playing against a human- invisible setting or not, he's still visible.

Make sense?

The invisible option makes the unit invisible for the AI only. Players still can see them.

Did you try the advanced waypoint action "Reaction to threat" set to "no reaction" or something?

(Or doesn´t this work and you ask for another way?)

well, what i am trying to achieve is, that there is a big dogfight in a mission, with p51s and fw190s.

i want them not to just engage randomly, but pretty much set for every plane a certain target-plane, so that for example p51 #1 only attacks fw190 #11, while fw190 #11 only attacks p51 #5....

what i did so far, was to set all planes to "fightersweep", and in the advanced waypoint options i set it to enroute task, engage unit, and set for each plane a certain "target" plane....

generally this would work, but as soon as the other planes are somehow near, the planes will skip their initial task, and engage other units...

ill have to look into ENO's way...but if i set a plane invisble, isnt it then invisible for all AI planes?

Yeah- given what you're looking to do invisible doesn't work.

However if you go into perform command you can tell it to engage a specific unit / group. Unfortunately if a greater threat exists I think Grimes mentioned that the aircraft will deal with that threat first then go back to task. In some respect that's the way it should be...

I have a somewhat similar question.

I would like to make a Bear intercept but I'd like to make Bear stay on it's path and ignore the interceptors. I tried using "Reaction to threat = no reaction", but the plane still started evading me when I came close.

Is there any other way to make it happen?

Was the Reaction to Threat at the top of the list? If it wasn't I don't think it will work. You can also try making all enemy fighters invisible.

It is the only thing on the list.

Players would be flying the intercepting fighters, would invisible command work with live players?
